Hello Folks :)
I hope I find you all well. So today I had a go at making this traditional treacle tart :) I’ve never actually eaten this before, so it was both my first time making it, and trying it! This was so delicious…especially with the vanilla ice-cream!
Everything I used will be below.
-Cheryl x

So this is the tart Dumbledore was crazy about? Makes sense, it does look delicious!
Oh just needs custard 🍮 😮😊
It looks a bit like caramel. Caramel pie sounds FABULOUS.
That looks so good and no soggy bottom. 🏴🇺🇸
It’s thanksgiving day here, so happy Thanksgiving to you ❤
Happy Thanksgiving to you! Hope you're having the best day 🤩👍
Corn syrup is a very poor substitute for Golden Syrup. Here in Canada I cannot easily locate Golden Syrup so I've begun making my own. Plenty of Golden Syrup recipes on TH-cam. ❤❤
Happy Thanksgiving from the US!
Happy Thanksgiving to all who are celebrating! Thank you, Cheryl!
This is my dads favourite, im going to make it for his birthday, looks yummy xx
Happy Thanksgiving from Arizona, Cheryl! I'm off to make a green bean casserole!
Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you have an amazing dinner
Today is Thanksgiving here so this recipe is perfectly timed. That looks really good.
fond memories of school dinners XX
That looks wonderful. I'm tempted to get some golden syrup - love it on a crumpet😋
This is a beautiful tart!! Thankfully I can get Golden Syrup at a shop near me. ❤
Also, I love the lattice top, it really adds to the final dish! You did a great job!
I've always heard of Treacle Tart. Now I cab bake one. TY. Love ya.
Not had this since my Gran used to make it, she would use desiccated coconut instead of bread though & make her own pastry from scratch!! She was so fast I kinda missed what she was was doing, I regret not asking more questions. Going to buy a roll of pastry! Thank you Cheryl!!
Coconut sounds good as an addition!
Hi Cheryl my mum would always bake a tart blind first , no soggy bottoms for us😎 Mum would use up the trimned pastry by making 'pastry biscuits' post war it was use up, not waste . Cheers
There are recipes on the web how to make golden syrup if you can’t find it at the grocery store in the US, which a lot now do, but it’s pricey. 🏴🇺🇸
MMmm! School dinners.
That looks so yummy.. and easy to make.. thanks Cheryl ❤
Looks great Cheryl. I've found Maple Syrup is an ok substitute for golden Syrup. Thank you for sharing xxx
My favourite pudding with custard at school in London in the 50's and 60's. I think I will try this recipe, Thanks for making it.
That looks delicious & very professional Cheryl, bet it went down a treat!😋☺️
Thanks for sharing & take care. xx 👩🏻🍳 🥧 🍨😋👌💕💞🩷
Big plate please hen x
🥇🤩👉🍽
Looks delicious.Will definitely make this.
I love treacle tart. Nice with thick cream too.
That looks absolutely fantastic.
Looks Delicious 😋
Yummy.😋👍
Wow this is my Favourite xx
The wet mixture looks a bit like porridge - or, as you would spell it, porage!
Looks yummy, though! Nice with custard - as it’s homemade, use the proper stuff you make with milk - don’t ruin a good homemade piece of baked indulgence by using that custard that you make with water!
I’m deffo going to try this !! Looks soo scrummy 😋
That looks amazing! 😋
Ooooo I want to try this!
You can get golden syrup online. If you're in the USA you can substitute dark corn syrup + a bit of molasses but it will be a different flavour. ❤
I'd imagine honey would be a good subsitute for golden syrup in this. That's how gingerbread was originally made back in the medieval times; bread crumbs, honey and spices :)
Bigger Bolder Baking has the best video on how to make golden syrup. Honey is not a good substitute for golden syrup. There's a bunch of videos on TH-cam showing how to make golden syrup.
@@CricketsBay @CricketsBay I saw a recipe online that did use honey for this calling it a honey tart so I think it would work. Obviously the flavour wouldn't be the same though. Ive also seen recipes that used part honey:golden syrup:treacle. So perhaps if you wanted an easy sub you could use half honey half "molasses". Just an idea.
Very nice
Hi Cheryl thank you for sharing all these recipes that you do being Scottish I had my mum clothie dumpling recipe the treacle tart looks delicious my question is what is the size of the foil disc?
yummy yummy cream ice cream and custard on mine please
Isn't black trickle American molasses?
Brilliant.............are your temperatures for fan or conventional oven please?
Conventional oven 🙂👍💙
Many thanks - I'll adjust for our fan oven...........
Wot! No custard?
😋😋😋😋😋
🤤😋❤👏💐
Regarding golden syrup: it is NOT the same as Karo, which is corn syrup. It's sugar syrup, flavored with a small amount of lemon juice. There are recipes for making golden syrup, which is not difficult.
Can u use a substitute for cream
Oh I'm not sure 🤔💙
