Living here in Austin with Jerry Jeff couldn't have been much better. We lost him this year. Nashville didn't even care.

RIP Jerry Jeff. Mr. Bojangles is one of the best songs ever, and on an unrelated note, Viva Terlingua is one of the best albums ever.

Wow, to get to hear Jerry Jeff Walker, who composed it,, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, who popularized it, sing this song is amazing. Mr Walker wrote an incredibly special song. How a person can take a passing event in his life and crack it open using music so others can experience it with emotions of their own is a proof of real magic in this world. In my youth “Mr. Bojangles” filled me with wistfulness for an old man’s life and a tear for his dog who up and died on him. Now I hear it at the beginnings of my own old age and add a new bittersweet layer of wistfulness for my own life. Thank you, guys.

One of the times I saw Jerry Jeff, was outside in downtown Waco, TX, at a Margarita Festival. I looked around and noticed something. I tapped my buddy's shoulder, waved my hand at the crowd. I told him: "Look, there's three different generations....all singing the words to Jerry Jeff's songs." It was cool. Enjoyed every time I saw, as everybody does.

I've seen Jerry Jeff live in Lexington, Va., Annapolis, Md and twice in Austin -- his birthday concert in 2015, and his last one in 2019. What a special artist, performer and man.

This song has always reminded me of my great uncle Charlie . He lived alone with his dog. His wife had passed before I ever new him. He was a character, in the summer he would go up on the mountain and be prospecting Dad would send me up to check on him . That dog was so protective of him. Love the song

I just believe Jerry Jeff owns this classic, he lived the young life that exposed him to the content and life meanings and others adapted that which he originally created.

What great time I've had trying to sing along to this phenomenal song...
I'll sing it in my own way(and warbling vocals...), many more times till I myself following Mr Bojangles who probably is skipping stones at the river with his dog long gone.
    Jerry Jeff, CIAO.
    🕯️or two for you...

Back in the day on a visit to NOLA, We went to the NOPD 1st precinct with the intent of seeing the holding tank where JJW got the inspiration for this song. We were sent away. Should have gone back in the day time and sober. Might have been allowed to pay homage.

Some how or other they screwed up in the recording so we got to hear Scamp's performance twice. This was maybe the best concert I've been to, at least I can't think of a better one. I know NGDB started playing about 7:45 and they were still cranking it at 11:30.

Nashville country has been putting out the sos for years. They didn't recognize John Prine or Jerry Jeff after they passed. They never recognized true song writers and story tellers. Listen to contry now, it is all the same shit. Put on a cowboy hat, add a twang to your voice and that is what it is, no substance at all.
