Rarely does this happen, but the TH-cam algorithm has clearly failed. Given my history, I can't believe that it took 2 YEARS for TH-cam to suggest this for me. This is absolutely PERFECT for what I need. Bigger than a microshop, but not as big as a cabinet saw, and I can still park the car in there. Thank you!!
Down with the algorithm! :). Glad you found it, may it bring you more joy than it does tears. just kidding, it's not That hard to build. Just check your measurements as you go and in no time at all you've have a little Octopus to call your own.
Thanks LTSBR, that's awesome to hear. When you've got little space you gotta get creative with it. I'm literally trying to make as small a stand as possible for a jointer and a planer right now and it is a real puzzle, let me tell you. :)
After watching literally hours worth of videos on multi tool integrated work benches, and not being able to settle on a particular design because of size or features, your design finally came to save me from the progress-crippling analysis paralysis I was experiencing. I have the same space constraints you have in a two car garage shared with bikes, garden tools, and anything my wife no longer wants in the house but is too nice to throw away. I really like how your design makes the most of all the workbench areas and provides the needed flexibility to functionally accommodate those tools that are not used very often. Thank you so much for documenting your project in your video series and well written plans.
Awesome gutierrem, very kind of you to say so. There're so many ways to approach a bench and it can be totally paralyzing with all the options. There's not really a right answer so much as what will work best for you. Mine is still going really strong for me; pretty solid and I don't see myself changing much in the future until I (maybe one day) get more space. Then I'd like to have the miter saw separate (for better dust collection) but other than that I dig how it all functions together. Good luck, I hope you can make it work for you.
Found your site through Shop Nation. I’m a retired General Contractor and cabinet maker with 50 years’ experience. I think you’re doing a great job. Your personality is great. Keep up the good work.
I came across your SuperPly video while looking for DIY gaming table possibilities, but I now I am a subscriber. Because. First, because "hiding in the garage" is apt, and second because who doesn't like a good shop apprentice?
My shop cabinets are the only real cabinets I've ever made and I'm really happy with them. The face frames kind of suck, but the cabinets themselves are solid, and for shop furniture that's the important part!
I have to say based on the editing, production quality, build, humor and even free plans (they're not terrible) you are awesome and TBH I thought I was watching videos from a large full time TH-cam woodworking channel. I've watched all four videos twice as I am in the process of rebuilding my bench in a similar manner. Keep up the amazing work, looking forward to your next build!
That's very kind of you, the voice can often lend a little drama to an otherwise boring build. And unless I'm mistaken You know drama, and might be a gal, and are born in September of 2012, and I just stole all your passwords. :)
I know this is 3 years old man.. I'm going to have to give this a go. I finally built a crappy temporary 2'x4' bench on casters just to get off my hands and knees. looking forward to building this.
The good news is mine is still holding up perfectly fine 3 years later, except for my sad octopus sticker which has peeled half off. This tragedy aside it is a solid bench, and I hope you're able to make one for yourself. Good luck, yell if you need me.
Another Shop Nation referral here. I also built a donkey from the magazine plans. As a beginning workbench it was ok but like you my needs outgrew it. It has also gone one to another owner.
@@withJordanFrank The table went intact to its new owner. I do like the idea of how the shelf stored away. My current shop space is so limited I haven't replaced the table.
not gonna lie, had I not already hit subscribe about 5 mins in.. I def would have when you mentioned your Sponsors.. I actually spat out the Coke I was drinking at that part.. Keep up the great work..
Came from Shop Nation and was not disappointed! The adjustable utility shelf is what really got me excited. I have wanted a modular-ish system to simplify using various tools on my bench. Clamping down a Kreg jig isn't that fun or reliable. A utility "side-car" like this makes it possible with many other tools as well. I'll be finding a way to do this. Thanks!
Wow! Described me PERFECTLY. Only fact that's different is I threw the last women out and now my shop is the first floor of my house. Life has been amazing ever since!
Well I was looking at two big empty rooms with nothing but a couch and chair and table and television. So a spare bedroom became the living room and moved in the tools. Granted I can't build a rowboat and get it out of the house. A kayak on the other hand.............
That's all you can do my friend... little bits at a time. That's advice that floats around and I think is solid: buy the tool you need for the project at hand, and then slowly your shop will grow as your skills develop. No need to rush out and get crazy. A bench like this you can totally do in parts; the basic setup is not too difficult, then you can add shelves, doors, router spot, etc down the road as needed.
gotta say I love the puns. as well as the general humor that the video is shot with. good call with calling out your own oversights and mistakes. I love the bench. EEEEEcellent.

Awesome, thank you! Travis @ Shop Nation put a big shout out to a few great resources, you were one of them. Thanks for using "regular" tools and nothing super crazy or expensive. I've built a whole store 2k sqft shelving (125 sheets 4x8 white birch) and now find myself needing a "temp" set up since we have 2 cars that live in my shop too, normally, here in winterland Wisconsin.
@@withJordanFrank Looking forward to it! I keep dreaming of 2x4' sections all on castors that can go against the walls, with various flip up/downs such as planers, or other items. Though not much for the woodworkers as an all around husband/home owner I need to get a multi-vice for holding and pounding some serious metal or the like. I will watch for more of your videos. Thanks for the time and effort you put into this, and also sharing your plans. I need to get onto doing more sketchups vs straight paper and pencil. That way I can share with others, and also have more cut sheets for time savings. keep it up!
Hi there! Its cool, if you’re new to TH-cam it depends on how you’re viewing the video (phone, pc, etc) but you should see something below the title (over by where it says “4 years ago” ) that says “more” with an arrow- click on that word or arrow to expand the Description and you’ll see the links, info, all that good stuff. That’s how it works for any video on YT. Hope that helps!
This Jordan Frank project brought to you by Beer. Beer: Giving people great ideas and courage to follow through with them since 1840! Don't let haters tell you your ideas are crazy and/or illegal. Let Beer do the talkin'!
Thanks for this awesome idea! I am brand new, and this is my first build, and it's been a lot of fun. I thought I'd enter the race for "dumbest mistake ever" so... I just finished basic construction and went to put my saw in it's place. It seemed too big. Then I realized I have the 7491. That was a whole lot of effort to end up in this spot, but I learned a ton along the way! Just wanted to share my little mishap in case you get a kick out of it like my wife did! Thanks agin!
Oh Max, that's both hilarious and also hilarious. We've all been there, and that is definitely not the dumbest mistake ever. But it is pretty dumb. Welcome to woodworking. :). Seriously though, were you able to adjust to get it to work?
@@withJordanFrank Haha yes, I'm learning that this is all part of the process. Something about measure twice cut once? Live and learn. Honestly, I haven't figured an easy way to adjust... any recommendations? I'd really appreciate it!

This Jordan Frank project brought to you by Beer. Beer: Giving people great ideas and courage to follow through with them since 1840! Don't let haters tell you your ideas are crazy and/or illegal. Let Beer do the talkin'!
We’ve made a lot of very big decisions together. Some even turned out well! Plus it helps me keep my girlish figure. Thanks Beer!
Thanks for the ideas and the plans - I will for sure use some aspects!
Thank You, I appreciate it. Good luck!
Shop Nation sent me this way.........Great videos!
Thanks Mike!
