    Bought this for my friend for his birthday, and he loves it. Father-in-law was a little jealous, even. :) Built solid, but light enough to move around for projects. Easy to use th-cam.com/users/postUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe and makes great precision cuts. Doesn't come with a laser mount, but the fence is straight as an arrow and if you measure carefully, it's not a problem. Can handle dimensional lumber with ease, but of course, there's a limit to how thick. Handled a 4x4" post without a problem, but 4x6" we had to flip and cut twice. Only thing we've noticed is make sure to tighten the nut that holds the saw blade when you take it out of the box and maybe check up on it occasionally. For some, this is probably a no-brainer, but we neglected to do this and a few months in, found the motor running but the blade spinning at about half speed or less. Tightened the nut, and problem was solved. Very happy with this purchase. Dewalt makes sturdy stuff.

    As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement th-cam.com/users/postUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!

    Nifty idea. Seems like you do a good job of changing your strategy as necessary throughout your workflow. Sometimes I watch people build stuff and it seems like they've got the whole master plan figured out in every detail before they make their first cut and it makes me feel like I'm missing something. Watching you adjust on the fly makes me feel like I'm not the only one.

    ive watched 10 videos of this design of workbench., i moved into a house with a garage this year in scotland UK and want to build it. trouble is, ive collected that much scrap wood and joiners offcuts is that i have no room to build it. hahahah., its shit weather too so dont want to leave it outside on the grass for months. i think ile build it on the drive way. i cant wait to get it built. nice to see the slider feature. i actaully kept some from old drawers i took from a customer for one day using them for something.,and now i know. bcoz of your design . haha. thankyou. ps one more thing you can add to this workbench, if you add plyboard to the bottom, say 12inches up, is a thicknesser. and a router mounted on the underside of the top board.

    So what I have going right now is a built in table saw, planer at the bottom, and in the top left I’m going to be making a router table, and since I don’t own a miter saw I was thinking on the opposite side of the table saw I would make the miter saw part like you did. However, I want to miter saw to be attachable where I can wheel it out or something idk.

    I have been watching every video like this but I had one problem with all of them. I released the best way to do it is to make the miter saw slide out. I didn't won't to make it swing down, to much trouble especially when you are going back and forth from one to another. And low and behold this video pops up exactly what I was planning to do. My miter saw isn't as big as the one in the video so it will actually work out better. To me this is the best design I have seen

    • @DIYMAN
      @DIYMAN  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah, I didn’t want it to flip or anything. It seems like a hassle. I had some drawer slides laying around so I thought I’d try it.

    • @jerrytrejo9375
      @jerrytrejo9375 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Question: drawer slides aren’t usually so strong and sturdy to hold properly any miter saw especially the heavier ones, how have you been dealing with this?
      Are there any really strong heavy duty ones to use here?

      Did almost the same workbench in lockdown-1. My miter-saw is a bit smaller, so put it on a movable shelf. It slides into a lower position, put a lid on, and I have a clean table-top. Also added a cyclone-vac from an old vac and some plastic buckets and plumbing joints. No more sawdust everywhere (well less), and no bags needed anymore.
      Anyway - great vid - I recommend this project to anyone.

    • @DIYMAN
      @DIYMAN  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually didn’t lock the wheels down. They’re older casters so they don’t move super easy. It really doesn’t move around on me unless I’m trying to cut a giant piece of plywood or something. I also didn’t lock the drawer slides in. A little bit of saw dust on them keeps them from moving too easily, but it still pulls out without too much work

    Great work man. Not to come off as a know it all, just a couple pieces of friendly advice. 1. When using a nail gun, if you can, nail it so there is wood on the left and right of the head. At 9:29 that nail went right through your brace, nails naturally want to move either left or right, so making sure you’re “head on” with your gun will limit instances of nails protruding from the side of your work. 2. Watch your hands when your nailing 3. If you make a simple circular saw cutting guide (glue a square piece of wood your choice in length on a thinning piece of wood like 1/4 inch ply) you’ll get straight cuts every time)

    Very nice build. I am going to be incorporating this idea into my shop. But you had me a little worried with that nail gun and how you were holding the wood. Nail guns can get squirrelly as evident at time stamp 9:30 but other then that, its a great video.

    This is an excellent workbench. I'm gathering the materials now to build. Any particular reason why you didn't go the full 8 feet on the long end? Structural or just personal preference?

    • @DIYMAN

      Thanks! No, I just didn’t want it to take up extra floor space in my shop. It would be great as an 8 foot bench too

    Do you know what the wood dimensions would be for a full 4x8’ workbench.

    • @DIYMAN
      @DIYMAN  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest, I’m not 100% without building it myself, but theoretically, you should be able to add 24” to most of the measurements on the long side to make it work

    Thanx for your tutorial. After one year: what are your experiences? Has the drawer solution proven itself? I have a little doubt because of the weight of the Miter Saw. Would you do anything differently today?

    • @DIYMAN
      @DIYMAN  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for asking! So, there are really only a couple things I would do differently. First, I used casters that don’t lock, so it’s kinda annoying if I’m ripping a giant piece of plywood or something. Second, if I want to take the table saw fence off and set it over on the wider set-up, I kinda have to pull the saw out a little to do it. I don’t have to do it that often, but it’s still a little annoying when I have to do it. I would try to make that a little easier somehow. Dust collection would be nice, but I can live without it. As far as the structure is concerned, it’s just as strong as ever. I never clean the drawer slides out so they are a little stiff when I slide the saw out, but it isn’t super hard to pull out and I would rather do that then it slide out too easily

    I have to agree with Richard Adcock, this is the most practical workbench for me - just got my Dewalt 745 table saw and a Dewalt mitre saw - so was looking for a work bench to accommodate both. Is there a set of plans I could leverage for this? I especially appreciate the 4x4 vertical posts - very stable.
