    My question is: Are there any requirements that need to be satisfied before selling in local open markets? Legalities? Do they afford traders with tables, etc. ? Do we have to pay anything?

    • @Sweetthingsbyamy
      @Sweetthingsbyamy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Good question - With markets you usually have to pay for the plot (sometimes includes a table and marquee) the price typically depends on the status of the event if its big or small. The same restrictions apply in regards to being registered and insured, you have to be insured up to £5 million for markets and £1-2 million for normal running of the business.
      I did a series on markets as I recently did one in December I would recommend watching the 'selling at a market' video for more information :)
      Hope this is helpful

    Natasha’s law seems so unclear and I couldn’t find a sold answer anywhere to the following. I note that you have toppings on your brownies such as Jammie Doddgers etc and you list the name of those goods. I am unsure as to if you should also list the full ingredients list of the topping in you own ingredients list. If you have 3 or 4 toppings including what chocolate you melted that’s a long list! I cannot seem to find any official information on this, did you find any that helped you decide what to do? Great videos by the way, thanks, Glenn.

    • @LilysVocals
      @LilysVocals 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to list everything in the product now with the new law, you can’t get away with just putting jammy dodgers

      Please watch my video on natashas law, as the rules are slightly different depending on whether you prepack your goods eg baked before or after you sell them. Mine after basked to order after the sale so the rules are different :)

    • @Sweetthingsbyamy
      @Sweetthingsbyamy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, for postals you have to list the ingredients used eg. eggs, flour then the chocolates eg. Milkybar chocolate. As far as I’m aware you list the chocolate by name but not it’s ingredients, you just need to put the allergens of the ingredients and the things like chocolate.
      For in person orders (not postal) you just have an allergen sticker with the 14 allergens and tick which it contains :)

    Hi Amy , I hope you are okay. May I know how you make sure the food is still fresh and still in one piece when they arrive at the customer's house? A lot of times, the food I order will arrive in a right mess. If your orders arrive Damaged, would you offer the refund refund or discount on their next purchase? Thanks.

    • @Sweetthingsbyamy
      @Sweetthingsbyamy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, I leave mine in the trays which avoids them breaking, then in cellophane for freshness and bubble wrap to protect. I have never had any issues but it depends when they were baked, if refrigerated and the way they're packed. I use tight boxes so the items can't move around.
      I would be reluctant to issue a refund as its not necessarily our fault it could be the postman throwing it around. If the product was opened on dented i would claim with the postal company for refund to customer. At most a discount, but like I say I always package well to avoid this. Thanks

    Some one with allergies should ensure they are ordering according to their dietary requirements,

      That’s correct, however that doesn’t change the fact that if they had a bad reaction you could be sued so you have to have detailed information on your website or packaging.
      Not to mention the people that buy as gifts and say “they’re allergic to Nuts but it should be fine to order something with nuts” 😅 I don’t sell any products with may contain to a person with that allergy.
      Some friends or family don’t realise the severity that’s why you have to assume people won’t know that the item may contain these allergies 🙂

    Hi Amy, with regard to mixed boxes where the ingredients will vary per item how do you do your ingredients and allergens labels? Many thanks, Bryony

      Hi I would list them the same you may just need to print them off as and when so you can customise them. My main components of the recipe stay the same e.g. flour then I have a section for toppings where I write any extras e.g. Nutella spread

    Surely you can’t be making a full time wage, with the amount of orders to the amount your spending to run this business ?

      Hello, it vastly depends on your idea of a full time wage as it can vary so much.
      I think it is based on your pricing and the amount of orders you have.
      I’m not far off my accountancy wage and I’m fully booked for February as I not only do postals but cakes too.
      Lots of bakers are opening shops which cost the same as other businesses to rent, if your pricing is right for your skill than you can earn well from a baking business. 🙂
