    Informative and entertaining at the same time - good video! I see you make use of pool noodles (so many uses for those things!) and noticed that you have awnings over your slide toppers. So when Phil was sweeping water off of one of the awnings I remembered I watched a You Tuber just last week who had a great idea for using pool noodles under their slide awnings. They got the kind that are ribbed and they 'hook' (interlock) 3 of them together to form a triangle and then put them under the slide awnings to help the water run off the awning instead of pooling on it.

    I’m an Active Duty Command Sergeant Major in the Army, so I appreciate your attention to detail. We’ll be going full time in the next 12-18 months after I retire. I’ve been searching for the best, for lack of a better term, “pre-execution checklist” for a while now. I’ve gone through several variations. Your slap bracket idea is amazing! I ordered a handful from Amazon last night to give it a try. Great idea! Thanks! And go Army, Beat Navy! 😉

    So we JUST bought our rig, but I (NOT IMPULSIVELY!) bought a $100 pair of FRS walkie-talkies to let us stay in constant communications with each other. We've only used them for backing up in the driveway and chit-chatting on the road when I drove the rig home, but I see where hanging one on our pockets will let us really coordinate our efforts. Your talk about making sure everything/everyONE is clear before pulling in the slides is something I had not considered at all. Thanks again for a great video!

    We use 2 copies of a checklist for each move. My wife and I check each item. It may seem redundant, but we all miss things so it pays off. Our slide toppers have brushes that cleans them off as it rolls in. No need to be on the roof.

    As many RV videos as I watch, this was the first time I have ever seen the breakdown routine, well. . .broken down!
    So-o interesting, and w-a-y too much work for single, ol' lady, lazy me.
    I have fantasized about adopting a retirement RV lifestyle myself, but after seeing this side of it, I won't be giving it another thought! I'm absolutely stunned that you two accomplish this lengthy checklist -- and barefoot, or in flip-flops!
    They'd be "flopping" me into an ambulance!! 😄
    All you RV'ers enjoy your well-earned rewards; I'll be sticking to occasional getaways somewhere much less complicated -- where people much more agile and stronger than I am see to the details.
    P.S. I cook, however! When I do travel, a working kitchen is at the top of my priority list.

    • @todayissomeday
      @todayissomeday  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HAHA Ann. It really does get easier the more you do it. We can break down and set up our site in about 30 minutes or less depending on what we set up outside. Smaller RV will dictate less stuff.....so you could do it.

    • @annthrockmorton1517
      @annthrockmorton1517 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@todayissomeday Yes; smaller would definitely be the way to go for me!

    Good thing to check those tires on the towed vehicle. My ex and I were full-timing it for a while in our RV and somebody towing a CJ5 jeep was driving off with their tires locked up (and I don't know how but THEY could not hear it screeching along behind them). I finally jumped into our own jeep and took off after them to tell them they'ed left the vehicle in gear or with the parking brake on. They were thankful - but embarrassed. (I honestly don't know how on earth they couldn't hear it themselves but who knows.)

    Great video guys Phil I only have one question. when you were dumping your black tank did you go back and rinse out the tank really thoroughly to make sure you didn’t leave a lot of debris in the tank. basically you know that builds up after a while and it’s really hard to get out of the black tank. just curious because I’ve seen lots of videos on this and they always flush the whole tank like to two or three times with 5 gallon buckets to get a good cleaning in the black tank and leave some water in the black tank after that rinse guy love your great videos I was just curious that’s all

    • @todayissomeday
      @todayissomeday  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question George......I did go back and flush the tank. For video editing sake, we didn't show everything. You could ask 100 RV'ers if they flush after they dump and you will get 100 different answers as well. I make sure that I alway add water to the empty black tank to help with breakdown and from drying out.

    Informative video. Like the coffee pot with the metal carafe. Is it over-thinking to spend time on which model of coffee pot one wants to travel with? I'm thinking about going with a double insulated metal carafe model. Noticed a few other details that helps. Can't have enough channel locks for the water hookups. I saved back two from our garage sale. Also, our last trip I would have paid double for a paper atlas when we were making the circle around Indianapolis Indiana. Quick reference.

      Hey Our Future! I just found your blog...it's great and very detailed! Its never over thinking when it comes to coffee!! We broke our glass pot in Colorado Springs so that is why we chose the stainless steel carafe and we love it. We can even take it outside with us and it stays hot.
      We also purchased the R McNally atlas for trucks and we have used it several times to verify low bridges/tunnels when our Garmins disagree! Thanks for watching. Hopefully we can meet up on the road!

      It is reflective to keep the heat out on hot days while driving. It makes a huge difference. In the summer we keep it there some days while stationary as well.

    What about turning off the hot water heater? What about lowering the TV antenna? What about the dishes, especially coffee cups, that were just put in the cabinet but not positioned for travel? What about securing the contents of the medicine cabinet? What about securing the trash container after its last use? What about securing the toilet paper roll so it doesn't completely unroll as you are going down the road? You wonder why I ask about these things in particular. These are ALL things we have forgotten at one time or another when breaking camp and regretted it.
    Well, you fooled me. I was ready to feel sorry for you. When I saw the title saying complete breakdown, I thought the RV was completely broken at the side of the road. I am sure glad to see that it is/was not what you meant but you are breaking camp, not the camper! Perhaps the double meaning was intentional. If that is the case, you will be glad to know that it worked on me, thoroughly.

      We dont actually have to do most of those things. The only thing I should have shown was the hot water heater. We have satellite so no antenna, dishes and coffee cups are always secure. No need for anything different for travel. Medicine contents are in a bunch of acrylic makeup containers so they are also always secure. Trash is wedged under the sink. I have never heard of the TP thing. That is a new one to me.
      It is never our intent to put up misleading thumbnails. Sorry, if you were looking for something else. Thanks for watching and safe travels.

      @@todayissomeday I always enjoy the surprise when a title indicates one thing and it is the other meaning of the word when I get into it. I like to take things said, literally. Example: When someone says they are going to run to the store, I like to say that it would be faster and easier if you drive. I also like to take the wrong antecedent to a pronoun when the sentence structure is ambiguous but the meaning is clear. I enjoyed being fooled on the word, breakdown. It makes life a lot of fun. Thank you!
      By the way, imagine our surprise when we opened the bathroom door and found that a half roll of TP was sitting on the floor. Any more, I take the roll off the holder and put it in the vanity sink after making sure the sink is dry.
