I am 76. Just started driving last year. Once I get behind the wheel I just love it. Will not let my husband drive. He sleeps imagine that. On our way to Mesa AZ as via southern interstate 10. Drove 7 hours today. It is really easy. My challenges are the gas stations. I try to find truck plazas. Been in some really good pickles. The trick is to have my husband get out and use our phones to help me. I learned this technique from a guy at a resort in California . After he helped me back into my camping spot he gave me confidence. I now do all the driving and my husband is okay with that. Keep on driving. You can do this. ❤️❤️

Hello. I have just found your channel. I am a retired Police Officer from Ohio and I travel America in a RV. I have a 2018 Renegade Ikon 45' coach, pulling a 24' stacker trailer with my toys in it.
Watching you learning how to drive is, well funny. It is very important that you learn how to drive your coach. If God forbid something were to happen to your husband you would need to know how to drive it.
Keep the rubber on the road.
    God bless.

You did a fantastic job just remember that your hips are your starting point for the turn and always use your mirrors it's just like driving your car but bigger there are other videos out there too on driving the rig it's best to know how just in case Phil can't drive safe travels

We are always worried about Phil not being able to drive. His back has gone out more than once since we hit the road so I gotta be able to drive if its moving day and we cant stay.
Thanks for the tips. I dont know why I kept looking behind me like it was really helpful! At least I never looked over my right shoulder! lol

AWESOME! You faced your fears and did it any way! Great job. The more you drive the more you will find your groove.
I can remember my greatest fear was this extremely curved mountain road heading to Yosemite . I knew if I did not drive it with our 21’ and flat towed Jeep, I would always be scared. So I did it... cannot say I wasn’t petrified the whole way but once it was done I knew I could pretty much drive anywhere. Mike and I take turns in 2 hour shifts so he gets a rest along the trip.
So excited for you on this win! Keep on driving cause practice makes it a piece of cake😍

You did a good job for the first time. When we bought out 45 fter in 17, we both took the RV driving school and learned a lot. We had to weave between cones, both forwards and in reverse, back in, parallel park, and finally on streets, in town, and on the highway. It is important that you are comfortable, and 1-2 hours at a time is a great start.

I do all the driving - I love it. Husband dozes or enjoys the scenery. When he does take the wheel to let me rest, HE gets sleepy too! and I have to take over after a short break. We sold our motorhome in 2018 because we couldn’t use it enough, but now we’re retired, and looking for another one. I can hardly wait.

Oh, girl, I feel your terror. I test drove a short Class A yesterday down a four way highway in Oklahoma where there's plenty of room. I did not drive it back into town to the dealership. My hubby got lucky and saw an opportunity to simply pull through an adjacent parking lot and park it back in the exact same spot we pulled out. You did GREAT and, yes, by great I mean no one died, nothing was damaged, and you arrived back at your site safe and sound. Practice makes mastery! You're my shero and I really needed this encouragement today. Thank you.

Well done! I solo now in my 22 ft Leisure Travel Van. I had driven it from the beginning, but husband always backed it in. He died and I had no choice if I wanted to travel in my van. I’m glad I learned. Bravo for learning. Have a friend who rode in the the passenger seat in their 40 ft bus until her husband became ill on a trip and if they were to get home, she had no choice but get behind the wheel with only him giving advice from the sofa. She got them home, but she recommended not learning by having to do it with no practice !

There is always the possibility an emergency could come up where YOU need to drive. We don’t like to think about it and we think nothing will ever happen but being prepared is better than not. We did the same thing, went to a school parking lot and I made my wife drive, back, and park until se felt somewhat comfortable. Now if I do some bone headed thing like trip over something at a camp site and injure my leg at least we can get home and OH yes she had to learn how to disconnect Everything, also. YOU go Girl!

Congrats on overcoming your fear, taking the challenge and a solid first step towards learning something new and building the confidence to do it! Two tips I'll give you. When your backing, the longer the wheel base, the slower it responds, so don't make large turns unless you really need to, say when you are making the initial turn into the spot. Once your fairly close to straight, a 1/4 turn is the most you need to make to adjust your angle. Just use patience and wait and the end will come around. Second, When your backing, if you put your hand at the top of the wheel, and move your hand the direction you want the back of the RV to go, you'll never turn it the wrong direction, which is always a challenge for drivers when their backing something new. It's the opposite if you have a trailer hooked up. Hand at the bottom of the wheel. CONGRATS AGAIN! Breath Deep, take your time, one step at a time and before you know it, your be pulling a shift driving some of those highway miles as a new milestone!

Nice job. Tip My wife is also vertically challenged so she made a cushion that slips over the seat back and moves her 4" forward while still letting her be supported.

GREAT job! No cones were killed!! Looked like a parade ground.

It was a parade field on the base. It is used for their motorcycle training course so the cones were out there. And it was the holidays so most of the military are on leave. We got really lucky!

Congrats... I decided to buy my Motorhome 36' foretravel diesel pusher in Florida and I live in Wisconsin. I did watch the RVgeeks videos because I was having anxiety about driving the MH and crashing it on the drive back 1200 miles. Well I did have a guy yell out his window at me and suggest a few things but other then that, I did learn how to drive it after 1200 miles. I had no choice it was just me. I had to back up in very tight spots without a backup camera since it stopped working and no damages to me or anyone else. I still have a bit of nerves but will drive anywhere I need to be now. thanks for the video... glad I wasn't the only one who was a bundle of nerves when I first started. Happy New year!

Oh man. I just started watching you guys and I love you. This video in particular I loved. I drive ours, but I have driven buses, eighteen wheelers, rock haul trucks and motorcycles. Yet I still get nervous sometimes. You did fantastic Stacey. I can't even believe how great you did. Your nervousness is only normal. Keep it up. Maybe if we ever go full time we will run into each other down the road. (Not literally, lol) Keep living the life and making the videos that entertain us.
