I found two promising studies for PFAS extraction:
      1) You can donate plasma (not blood), which can be hard to do for some blood types.
      2) Some bile binders like cholestyramine very effectively bind PFAS before it can reabsorb in the ileum.
It would be great to see Rhonda discuss these and also tell us how to find a way to donate plasma in our area when American Red Cross does not support your blood type for plasma.

    Just as fyi -
The top five most common ways people are exposed to PFAS are:
    1. Drinking contaminated water: PFAS can leach into groundwater and drinking water sources, particularly near manufacturing plants, military bases, or waste disposal sites where PFAS-containing products have been used.
    2. Food packaging: PFAS are used in grease-resistant paper, fast food wrappers, microwave popcorn bags, and other packaging that prevents food from sticking.
    3. Non-stick cookware: Older Teflon or other non-stick pans may contain PFAS, which can leach into food when the cookware is scratched or overheated.
    4. Household products: PFAS are found in stain-resistant fabrics, water-repellent outdoor clothing, carpet treatments, and cleaning products.
    5. Personal care products: Some cosmetics, including waterproof makeup, foundation, and shaving cream, contain PFAS to improve durability and spreadability.
How to mitigate risk and exposure:
    1. Filter your drinking water:
    • Best bang for your buck: Install a home water filter that is certified to remove PFAS, such as reverse osmosis or activated carbon filters. These can significantly reduce your exposure if your water supply is contaminated.
    • Cost-effective options: Pitcher filters with activated carbon can help, but whole-home systems or under-sink reverse osmosis systems are more effective for continuous use.
    2. Limit consumption of fast food and packaged foods:
    • Fast food wrappers and other packaging materials are often treated with PFAS. Opt for fresh or homemade foods that don’t rely on these wrappers.
    3. Avoid non-stick cookware:
    • Switch to alternatives like cast iron, stainless steel, or ceramic cookware, which don’t contain PFAS. Avoid using scratched or old non-stick pans that could release PFAS during cooking.
    4. Be mindful of household products:
    • Choose furniture, carpets, and clothing labeled as PFAS-free or avoid items marketed as stain-resistant or waterproof. These items often contain PFAS-based treatments.
    5. Check personal care products:
    • Avoid cosmetics and personal care products that list “fluoro” or “perfluoro” ingredients on their labels. This is especially important for waterproof or long-lasting products that are more likely to contain PFAS.
Best overall strategy (bang for your buck): Filtering your water is probably the most effective single action you can take because water can be a significant source of PFAS exposure if it’s contaminated. Pairing this with avoiding fast food packaging and switching out non-stick cookware offers a powerful, combined approach to lowering your overall PFAS exposure without dramatically changing your lifestyle.

Hemp can do two things for us, first hemp plants absorb and break down toxins in the soil including plastics and pesticides, second non toxic bio degradable plastic can be made out of hemp. We need to plant hemp everywhere. Around all lakes and rivers, around all dumps, waste facilities, factories, farm land ect. This is the key to healing all of the damage caused by plastic and all of the toxic chemicals contaminating the environment. We need to ban the manufacturing of all plastics and replace it with hemp plastic as soon as possible. We need to force the government to implement something like a two year plan where we mass plant hemp all across the country and then use that hemp to replace conventional plastics over the next 2-5 years. We need to take the money they are wasting on wars and all of that crap and use it to subsidize the hemp industry in the United States. Growing hemp doesn’t require the use of any pesticides and also growing it on our farm land will heal the damage and contamination caused by decades of pesticide spraying on the land. This is the key and we seriously need to take action today!!!

No opinion on the book but "just do the opposite of what the government says" isnt very scientific or rational. It makes you no better than the people that blindly follow and believe the government. The best approach, but also the hardest, is to analyze each situation or claim on its own and come to your own conclusion based on information from trustworthy sources. And if you dont have time for that (which for the important subjects you do) then defer your opinion to a trustworthy source (not your favorite "guru" or political pundit) while not becoming too attached to your view and remaining ready to admit your ignorance.

    • @hodlwise2470
      @hodlwise2470 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@AOOOOGA There are a multitude of papers. If I link the papers YT will delete my comment.
You can search for this paper
*"Could probiotics protect against human toxicity caused by polystyrene nanoplastics and microplastics?"*
They mention several strains in particular towards the middle of the paper.
Just search for "probiotics nanoplastics pubmed" or something like that, try different variations and check the citations of the paper I mentioned above.
Also, melatonin and NAC/glutathione also have been shown to reduce/eliminate the toxic effects of NPs (nanoplastics). NAC replenishes intracellular glutathione, which is the master antioxidant in the body.
Melatonin is actually an immunomodulator, and an incredibly powerful antioxidant. Just search "Melatonin immunomodulator pubmed" and read some papers.
      VitC also seems to help.
Anyway, just having a hard focus on redox biology (antioxidants) and probiotics in order to get your microbiome/gut flora poppin' is crucial to overall health.
Virtually alll diseases and health issues derive from cellular dysfunctions, so combatting oxidative stress/excess ROS is very important.
IMF (intermittent fasting) is also a great since (among a vast array of other benefits) induces autophagy which helps clear out dysfunctional cells.
So combing all of the above aforementioned has a synergistic effect that greatly benefits your health and the ability to fight toxicity.
Also, your microbiome/gut is the heart of your immune system and essentially your "second brain". Very important to get your gut health poppin' with beneficial bacteria.

If PFAS is in our seafood, should the public be discouraged from eating seafood? Asian Americans in the US who eat a lot of seafood have higher PFAS levels in their blood compared to Americans of other ethnic groups.

You lose most of the sulforaphane when the cruciferous veg is cooked. But you can add mustard powder to the meal (containing cruciferous veg) and this causes some sort of reaction where you get most or all of the sulforaphane back (or something like that).

As usual, Dr Patrick exposes harmful chemicals in a clear manner with thorough and actionable steps to reduce our intake of these metabolically disruptive substances. However, with what is now known to be harmful chemicals within most vegetables, along with the equally harmful chemicals that reside on the surface of the plant's skin, are we not trading one set of harmful chemicals for another equally harmful set?

Thanks, Rhonda. Always interesting. I've learned a lot from your videos. I hesitate to bring up something seemingly petty, but one thing that bugs me (very slightly) is the way you pronounce the word sulforaphane, with the accent on 'for.' The word actually breaks down as sulf-o-raph-ane; sulf for sulfur, 'o' is a connective, 'raphane' from Raphanus, the latin name of the genus of radishes from which the compound was first extracted. So correctly it should be sulf-o-RAPH-ane, with the accent on raph.
