Did I share this on another video, but I got a free desk from where I volunteer. They were getting new desks, and I asked them if I could put my name on the desk they wanted to get rid of, and come back later with my two uncles and a truck and take them to my apartment. Didn't cost me anything, and I had a perfect nook for it to go into. It was the perfect sized desk for me. I'm still happy about that! It's made out of wood.
I appreciate anything I can learn on this topic since I will be turning 62 this year. Sure hope you will be talking about medical copays and how you make it on Medicare.
I spent $9.00 on three gifts for neighbors, I made Apricot Coconut pistachio balls, they were vegan, and each person got 18 large pieces. One year I had 5 gifts to make it cost $25. I made Belgium Chocolate covered Maldon salted caramels each person got a pound of caramels. OMG they were thrilled. I always make gifts, I did candy classes in Belgium, and pastry classes in France. That was 45 years a go.
Well, I pulled the trigger! There is now a copy of Dining on a Dime destined for my mailbox.📬 I can hardly wait. 🤗 Come to me, little book! Come to me!🤗
We freeze chocolates that we get discounted. Christmas Kisses come in in red, grre, and silver. Then I have red for Valentines, green for St. Patrick's, etc.
I bought Christmas presents today @ 75% off today @ Big lots, 2 pairs of slippers $3 each ( size13 & 14) for my adult sons, A troll hat & mitten set for my granddaughter $2, two pairs off mittens for &1 for two of my grandsons & a pair of mittens for my self. Total being less than $11. I love a good sale.
What an inspiration! It’s so nice that you think of your Grandchildren throughout the year... planning ahead for them!! Its so sad my children’s Grandma doesn’t do that. She will not get anything for all holidays, 90% of our birthdays , and expect us to lavish her on Mother’s Day and her b day, As well as every holiday. She is on SS so that’s her excuse. But she will buy herself extravagant items, have 5 TVs 3 non paying live ins ,(my siblings all 30& up )using her. But complain every time she sees me ... that oh my bills , car payment, property tax, doc. Bills .!!!! I’m at my wits end , I’m so tired of being expected to listen to it all , feel guilty , because I have a business. So it’s like we don’t deserve anything. However. It Hurts and I feel used! Sorry to vent , I don’t know what to do, any suggestions?
The red hots are great with pears too or baked apples. I mix them with white chocolate and melt them onto puffed ,(plain ) rice. Yummm. Or sour cherries, are great with white chocolate too!
Jill, thank you for this video. I live on Social Security as well. I cannot afford the gifts that my daughter whats me to buy my teenage grand kids. Then it dawn on me. I buy the gift that I want to buy.
We shop clearance at Walgreens and big lots. I’m normally able to pick up gifts, groceries etc. I also regift-i put the givers name and when I receive it so I don’t regive to the same person.
These great sales are not only for holidays cuz b4 school starts I got school paper for 19 cents each package of writing paper & also notebooks! That's when I stock up for the year!
Thank you for sharing. I do a lot of the same things. I was able to order your cookbook last week. It took me three months to save, But I know when I get it it will help me save. Thank you again
Last Easter I bought the hollow chocolate rabbits for .30! I stocked up and froze them. I use them in your banana bread recipe. Thank you for the wonderful ideas.
I am disabled and I coupon when my health allows. I went to Walgreens when after Christmas sales hit 90% off. I have enough Christmas bags for the next 15 years. I got perfume sets, make up sets. At target after valentines 70% off and got lots of goodies.
Love a clearance sell esp. With clothes. Got a $3 purse last weekend after mine i had for years finally bit the dust and i recycled it into a dog toy cause it was a jean pocketbook. So glad to hear that you guys donate as well. Yes Operation shoe box is awesome. Wow Jill..my daughter had the same pink and zebra bedroom. My sisternlaw found new looking chairs 6 i think it was found at the dump. Very expensive ones for a patio tall like bar stools tall. So jealous.
Awesome video. I bought some great candy at 70% off at Kroger. I buy the baking chips and freeze them too. They are great and so much cheaper. I love sales.
Walmart in my town in NY Dropped 4 tables of valentines stuff to .10. Candles Perfume some Bigger stuffed animals and candy Left with a big bag full for Christmas Angel tree at Church.
The workers at the Christmas tree lot gave me tree leftovers and I took them home and made a wreath and had enough left to decorate my fireplace mantel for practically free.
Stopped at Dollar General and Christmas had been marked down to 25 cents then 1/2 off. I filled an empty foot locker with white gift boxes and big Christmas bags for 12 cents each.
I love Christmas gift boxes but they are so expensive. After Christmas i found some med. Size ones for 70% off.I was so happy they cost me less then a dollar each.I got them from the general dollar store. I have learned to always check their sales table out when I go there.
Your channel imparts a lot of great information. The one suggestion that "hit home" with me the most is to ask yourself is there anything you've got that can serve the purpose without buying something new. Just by asking myself this question before running to the store has saved me $$$. I actually think of this many times when I say "oh I need this or oh.i need that". Often I can either substitute with something I have or can simply do without. Thank you!
Recently my Kohls had marked down a ton of things I found a nice Harry Potter hoodie for 5.00! I also luckily had 5.00 Kohls cash from my birthday so I got the hoodie free for my sister's Christmas gift.
I had a hard time convincing my adult children that I do not WANT anything for Christmas or birthdays - there is nothing I need. So one child sent me toys for my chickens (who knew they made that) and then I got pictures of the grandkids - more than enough for me. They got a gift card to their favorite coffee shop. I think holidays would be more fun if they would agree to do things your way - the hunt for the great deal would make the gift giving so much fun. I had a friend who's family only gave edible gifts.
Thank you for your video about saving money for gifts. Very informative and I thouorghly enjoyed your video and appreciate your time with us!!! Thumbs up!
I love after holidays finding the treats that aren't candy like little pretzel bags for lunch/snacks. Also target tends to clerance out their home decour after chritmas but normally isn't marked so I have gotten nice marble serving trays and throw pillows 50-75% off and it has nothing to do with the holiday. Also beauty gift sets are amazing to stock up on things I need.
Yes always after never before and buy the holiday before that way it's not old. Look carefully because stuffed animals are an item too. Also the sale tables.
I only buy big items during holiday sales, and smaller ones afterward too. You can save the most during the holiday sales on big appliances and furniture. Then they usually have 0 interest promo offers if that would help you when new in a home. Ideally all of that should be cashed backed though. It’s amazing what you can have when you don’t eat out.
Our .99 only store always has a great selection of candy...we aren't big candy eaters but we can always take care of our craving there. I'm not good at dealing with crowds or going at a crazy hour to get anything....always gain something from your videos though.😊
Can you do one of these for those of us who are disabled and mainly home bound and can't get around to these different stores. Since I have to use the medical van to take me any place I do almost all of my shopping online instead. Can we get these kinds of after holiday deals online somehow? Thank you.
@@AnnaLauraBrownHealthCoach that pretty much wipes out the savings though. Same with paying the medical van (they can transport our wheelchairs) to take us over. We do it to get our fresh food as we can't order that online but have to work the cost of the van into our grocery budget. To ask them to take us various places to catch sales would wipe out the savings from the sale unless it was a spectacular sale and guaranteed we would get it as we pay separately for each stop we ask them to make for us. That is why we mainly shop online now.
@@ruthlloyd1163 I do keep an eye out for regular sales at the three places we shop online but what I was asking about (in the context of this video) is it possible to get after holiday clearance deals online.

Wrap chocolate in FOIL then place in plastic bag. It keeps from getting freezer burn and do this with meat as well. A tip from our butcher.
It's very cold here tonight, and I want to go to bed early.
