    Which has longer battery life?

    • @CarrotsNotCake
      @CarrotsNotCake  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nyxi is the one that's all jank. Random inputs from the left joystick, triggers, and face buttons. Comically, Nyxi also feels better in the hands.
      Nyxi for sure, judging by the batteries. In the teardown videos, you can see how much bigger Nyxi's batteries are. That's all for naught, though, since it's glitchy.

    About the middle piece on the Doyoky, someone asked on their site and they said something in the line "this is the first batch, we'll make changes after we get feedback from the market".
    So, subjectively, for the price close to official JoyCons and without hall effect joysticks (not that it bothers me much since I have those solderable drift compensating boards but still) , we get the privilege of beta-testing the controllers that'll get changed in the future and we'll have to buy a brand new controller should we want those changes.
    As for the back round bumps (or whatever they're called), I can only guess that Doyoky was going for the feeling of the wired GC controller since that one had those bumps.
    For me the NYXI "loses" due to the sheer thickness (it not being flush with the Switch on the back), the awful-feeling buttons, ugly button font, gimmicky LEDs, the cheap feel and poor QC (at least from posts on Reddit).
    In the end, I ordered Doyoky ones because NYXI ones don't do it for me, but the price IMO could have been lower for a "first batch" (something like 55/60$ with shipping included in the price).
    EDIT
    Doyoki have just said on their product page that they're supposedly going to release the hall effect joystick version in the following "1 or 2 weeks".

    • @CarrotsNotCake
      @CarrotsNotCake  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, paying to beta test is how it works with online gaming. With like every launch, there are issues. So, why not hardware, too? Thing is, I don't think we'll see the revisions. I think that the sales will be so bad that they won't do it. And the sales are bad because they created inferior products. Nyxi having random inputs is just unacceptable, and Doyoky with the weird lump that serves no function. Nyxi got all of the attention since they released first, so the one that had horrible face buttons is what people remember, and they'll be conflated. Doyoky is a better replica, so it's a shame that Nyxi got all of the publicity.
      The wired doesn't have any bump: twitter.com/CarrotsNotCake/status/1663625723599372289 They just... did it to do it, I guess? I don't think they ever played games with GameCube controllers.
      I agree with all but two of those points. The flush is no bother to me; I just want my finger to rest as they do with GameCube controllers. And the feel isn't cheap. The plastic actually feels pretty great, and the shaping of the triggers is nice. Quality control is like... nonexistent, it seems. Can't be bad if it doesn't exist! But yeah, it's terrible.
      I hope they revise it, but I'm doubtful that they will. Hall effect joysticks are so unneeded. Hall effect triggers would be great, though. Oh, and better face buttons. It can be perfect! I fear that they'd end up making it worse, though.
      I... yeah, their release predictions were wrong for half a year, so it's safe to presume that it's not happening in a week or two.

    • @jeikWazTaken
      @jeikWazTaken ปีที่แล้ว

      My bad then, I thought by "bump" you meant the round bits that were meant to house the d-pad and the right joystick.

      @@CarrotsNotCake Yep, I saw the disassembly video you made. What I was trying to say is that my guess was that Doyoky added that just to make it resemble the wired GameCube controller (which did utilize that space).

    Hey i would like to know is their anyway to mod the small c-stick and put in a full one? the small one just doesn't feel right to me anymore so i want to mod a Doyoky and put in a bigger one. is that possible?

    • @CarrotsNotCake
      @CarrotsNotCake  ปีที่แล้ว

      Certainly. If you have other controllers around that you're willing to take apart and get the stick cap off of, do that, and see if it'll fit on the Doyoky. If it does, you can order that stick cap online, and then you'll be in the clear. Or, if you're willing to sacrifice it's original use and it doesn't fit correctly, you can cut into it with an exacto to make it fit (if it's too small). I don't recommend using anything that's too big. I suppose you could use tape, or heat up the plastic and reshape it, but it's best to get something that works by default, or that's a bit small, and that you just cut away at it, see if it fits, cut away some more if it doesn't, see if it fits. Bit by bit like that, and eventually you'll have it! The next comment will have a much easier way.

      Doyoky's GameCube JoyCon comes with a full size yellow cap. Just get the small C stick cap off, and put the full size one on. th-cam.com/video/bXLMUWps6qU/w-d-xo.html I had to squeeze my long fingernail under it and pry it off like that. If you have a thin enough pry tool, it should be able to get it off.

    • @CarrotsNotCake

      For me, random inputs from buttons, and joystick doing its own thing without me touching it. Others have experienced those issues and more. Nyxi just needs to up their quality control. Some people (maybe most) get controllers that have no issues, but I've read at least fifty comments complaining about issues. Nyxi did send me a new controller that isn't doing it, but still, it shouldn't be happening at all, let alone to the degree that it happens.

    Since I pretty much play my Switch docked 100% of the time, the Power A wireless Gamecube controller is still the best and closest thing to the OG Gamecube controller on the market.

      @@CarrotsNotCake Any recommendations for a 3rd Party Pro controller that has lower latency than the official Switch Pro Controller? That thing has 12ms(Tested and confirmed) more input lag than the Joy-cons, which is pretty bad in most cases. Just makes your in-game character feel a little heavier and less responsive.

    • @CarrotsNotCake
      @CarrotsNotCake  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NeonPizzas If you want as little latency as possible, wired is the way. I barely play outside of handheld, but I haven't noticed any latency with Sunwaytek's H510. It's also just such a fun controller. The mechanical face button switches, the Hall triggers; I love it. But! Terrible D-Circle thing instead of a real D-Pad. Makes it a nogo for a lot of people. Retro Fighters seems to be a good brand. I have their Duelist. If the rest of their controllers are of equal quality, I think you'll be pleased with them.
