As a professional musician, I don't believe that Stephanie Mills has ever received the praise for her talent and pre-imminence as one the greatest song stylists of her generation.
Many years ago (too many, I'm afraid!), I remember seeing her perform live as Dorothy in the original Broadway version of "The Wiz." I have never forgotten that performance. Every, single time I hear this beautiful and moving tune, I cry... for happy.

I am a Kindergarten Teacher and I play music like this to my students around the world, i believe in music and i so believe in teasing the ear to know the differenc in musical notes. I had a student misbehave in his music lesson. I took him back to the class and for punishment I made him sit and listen to music that he would not have heard on a normal day. He held me so tight and said he would not miss his lessons ever again. I guess we all have different forms of managing bad behaviour.

With due respects to Whitney, Stephanie's "Home" is unparalleled in all of singing history and will remain that way for a very, very, very long time. I've had this version since the 90s and it has remained very close to my heart, so much that I feel I've memorised how she sings it. Her style is unmistakable and recognizable. I fell in love with this song mainly for the way she sang it.
I love her other early songs too like "Feel The Fire", both solo and duet version (with the late Teddy Pendergrass?).
I hope I could listen to some of the tracks she has recently recorded, if they have been released already. Thanks for this upload and thanks for sharing a great artist on youtube.
