I actually carried a tinker for 30 days and was a great challenge when you have 300+ to choose from. Out of the ones presented I would say the explorer even though it is somewhat bulky. You will be glad for the in-line screwdriver when you unpack. Also as you have said several times you may need the small screwdriver for your glasses. I also think you’ll be glad you have scissors and the tweezers.
I've been carrying the Pioneer X as my edc for the last 8 months or so. I go between that and the Cadet for when I wear more slim fitting pants. Have the scissors to me is a must and the Pioneer X is as thick as you can comfortably carry imo. I attached a clip to mine and it fits well in my right front pocket.
When my family and I moved across the USA in 2021 I found myself in a similar position. I chose to do the packing and make the 2500 mile road trip with a Tourist and Rambler. It worked out great! But... since you only want to go with ONE... I would have to vote for the Explorer for a few reasons. First off, it's got the tool set of the Tourist/Rambler combination that served me so well. It's larger, so your less likely to lose it in the packing/moving/unpacking process. Last, despite being on the thick side, it's actually pretty light weight (way lighter than a Deluxe Tinker, for example). If I can have a second choice, it would be the Spartan Plus. Can't go wrong with a classic SAK like the Spartan and the Plus scales offer some nice extras to help get you through in a pinch. Congrats on the new house, Dan! Seems like life has been treating you pretty well lately and I wish you and your family nothing but the best.
Congratulations on the new house. If your actual move-in date is within your 30-day window, and if you don't mind the weight in your pocket, I would recommend the SAK with the most tools on it. I think that would be the Boy Scout Explorer. You will find plenty of things to use it on during your move!
I vote for the Compact. That‘s what I‘m carrying myself. I used to carry a Climber for many years which is my other favourite. If you don‘t need a large blade then the Rambler or Manager in 58 mm on your keychain is an excellent choice.
I would go with the Explorer. The hook is great for moving picture by the wire. The inline scree driver snd magnifier will also come in handy during the move.
You're moving and it's one and one only, no sneaky SD on the keying? It's gotta be the Explorer surely. A good inline Philips for taking down any shelves you've forgotten or adjusting furniture doors and drawers that get knocked out of alignment during transit. Scissors for trimming those hang nails or fabric threads that get caught up while packing and unpacking. Magnifying glass and tweezers for removing splinters from those packing crates, plus it has those two blades, one for work and one for on the go food prep or opening those convenience store scooby snacks. Finally those highly visible bright red scales mean you are less likely to put it down and forget about it. If you're carrying an SD on your keyring though, you can't beat the pocket friendly Pioneer with it's robust knife blade, flat blade screwdriver and tough Alox scales, if you're faced with some heavy duty prying, poking or reaming, an Alox model is your guy. But if it's one and done, it's the Explorer for my money.
Just for fun, will say... commit to the Classic. Regardless, parcel hook was a finger saver when I moved for tying boxes with that “cheap evil plastic cordage” (that have never known the translation for) instead of using tape. Happy moving.
First, Congrats Dan on your new home and of course family.. In my rotation I have an Explorer, a Compact, a small Tinker, and a Signature Lite on the keychain. With your choices I think you should pick the Compact as it is the most versatile and efficient in size vs utility...the yellow one.
I'd go with the Explorer. I had one (now stolen) and liked it quite a bit. Since then I've gone to a Huntsman, and it is pretty much ideal for me. I do plan to get an Explorer again if I find a good deal.
Decisions, decisions, decisions. What is a SAK person to do? The executive would be my choice in your collection. As for my SAK collection, I carry the Huntsman and on my key chain it's the classic SD
Explorer! I'm happy for you all with the house! Moving can be hectic but they will also have some great memories you'll never forget! And memories you'll attach to whatever swiss army knife you carry. Just another great thing about swiss army knives
Today I doubled a Tinker with an Executive. Used the Executive’s scissors in the office. In a few moments I’m going to pop open a bottle of wine and neither one of these has a corkscrew. In comes a Climber.
I edc a sailor some times i take the firstmate 😤 If you have its the coolest knives, design wise because of the long bag needle. And its realy all you need
Pioneer X for the Win.... If you had a Super Tinker considering your moving that would have been perfect too have a Phillips on your person to help you remove screws doing your move. But too me I think the X is your go to doing the move, the Awl might even come in handy also. 😎👍. 🙏 's on your move Dan. I take it back I forgot about the Explorer that's your work horse 🐎 for the winner 🏆. Explorer Dan !!!!!
Kid, wife, house..... I think you are becoming domesticated. Lol I vote for the explorer. The dedicated Phillips + full size scissors with dirty/clean blade should be perfect for moving chores. Congratulations on the house buddy.
My vote would be: carry the one you'd get the most use of. I bring my Rambler and Explorer everywhere (unless I'm at airport security's mercy). Hope you'll be left with a suitable sak after this. Stay kind everyone!
There's a fair bit of redundancy in that combination though to be fair, 2 inline Phillips, 2 scissors, and 3 blades. Both great knives but I'd personally do a different combination e.g. Farmer with Rambler. I'd buy a Rambler if they made on in Alox so it wouldn't get dinged up on my keychain, as it is I'm just going to get the Minichamp Alox.
No way to say. Where are you? What are your hobbies? I'd say if minimalist but functional, then carry Compact or Super Tinker. Beefier & have use for the tiny pliers Tinker Deluxe or better still carry the Evo S557 or Handyman or Swiss Champ. If I could only have one, I'd wear a vest or carry a shouldbag and carry the Champ. I carry a fresnel 3" x 5" magnifier in my wallet behind a SwissCard making the Explorer SAK moot and in my pocket a Compact or more likely a Super Tinker. pocket If I'm thinking heavy use there's the Evo S557 or the Handyman or the Champ. For more serious work or power or overnight travel I'll carry a Leatherman Wave+ or Ti Charge in my Duffle or Suitcase as Checked baggage. Suggest you scrap the one knife plan and have 6 on your dresser and decide day of. Keep track of what tools you use or wish you had for 13 weeks. You may need more or less than you think. That got me to the Compact / Super Tinker. Compact is better in dress pants, Super Tinker better in Chinos.
For me it’s the mini champ alox. It doesn’t get better. I like the idea of pen and tweezers/toothpick, but I have a better pen and nicer one and I never ever used tweezers and toothpicks from SAKs. The nail cleaner on the nail file is perfect (I prefer the classic over the classic sd) and the two extra blades are useful for day to day since you will always have a very sharp one for opening stuff if needed. If the made a rambler alox, I’d go for that (or vagabond alox). Bigger than that I can’t see being useful for me.
12 hours to go. The Explorer is winning!
If size is not an issue I'd go with the Explorer
I carry the swisschamp in sak clip on belt and goes in my poocket about 6 months,no problem
Been carrying a hunstman for several years now. So far I'm satisfied with it.
Congrats on the house Dan!
Explorer!
Best wishes
I'm a bit partial to the Explorer. I carry one every day and it really works for me. Good luck in your new home.

Good points. But for a move I'd go heavy. The Champ!
I've got 8 different SAK and a handful of leatherman but usually end up carrying victorinox climber. Thanks for the videos 👍
I usually carry either the Explorer Plus or the Ranger Plus, so of the ones you showed I would go with the Explorer.
When my family and I moved across the USA in 2021 I found myself in a similar position. I chose to do the packing and make the 2500 mile road trip with a Tourist and Rambler. It worked out great!

Hmm, I would pick Mountaineer!😊

I think that would be the Boy Scout Explorer. You will find plenty of things to use it on during your move!
Carried a tinker for 25 years or so. Now it's mostly a cadet and sometimes a swiss champ.
I vote for the Compact. That‘s what I‘m carrying myself. I used to carry a Climber for many years which is my other favourite. If you don‘t need a large blade then the Rambler or Manager in 58 mm on your keychain is an excellent choice.
Good to see you back swiss army dan!! Also congrats on the house! I would pick either the black compact or the explorer
I would go with the Explorer. The hook is great for moving picture by the wire. The inline scree driver snd magnifier will also come in handy during the move.

Explorer. It has everything the other knives have, with the exception of the nail file.

I do plan to get an Explorer again if I find a good deal.
The black Sportsman, mainly on looks, but it’s a good carry, too.
Congrats on the house! I say go with the Compact, black.
I suggest the Pioneer X. I carry it daily. Found if it’s on a clip you can’t feel it in your pocket at all.
just bought a house you better carry that swiss champ around for a while
I know what you mean, I EDC a Swisschamp in sexy black in the 5th pocket of my jeans and hardly notice it's there.
Decisions, decisions, decisions. What is a SAK person to do? The executive would be my choice in your collection. As for my SAK collection, I carry the Huntsman and on my key chain it's the classic SD
Mountaineer
Congrats on the new home. I vote for either the Explorer or the Pioneer X.

My vote will always be for the Compact. Gotta love the plus scales. They really need to make a compact tinker. Adding the screw driver on the back.
Pioneer X!! But Explorer is my 2nd choice. Have fun, and congratulations! :)
You should be carrying a Voyageur but I have never seen a Voyageur in your collection. You are over due for one
Where do you buy your scales
Today I doubled a Tinker with an Executive. Used the Executive’s scissors in the office. In a few moments I’m going to pop open a bottle of wine and neither one of these has a corkscrew. In comes a Climber.
The Handyman. Next?
I vote for the Pioneer X, of course :)
(The black Pioneer is a great choice, too - the one I got from you is still in regular use.)
I edc a sailor some times i take the firstmate 😤
If you have its the coolest knives, design wise because of the long bag needle.
And its realy all you need
Classic. You will be surprised
Hi Dan
I often carry an Explorer along with a Manager
Explorer gets my vote
Take care
Graham
Congratulations on getting a house. Go with the explorer, it's got everything.
I guess pick the one that has what you think for your move.
Personally, I'd go for the Explorer or the Pioneer X 😊
Pioneer X for the Win.... Executive. It’s my favorite SAK
Kid, wife, house..... I think you are becoming domesticated. Lol I vote for the explorer. The dedicated Phillips + full size scissors with dirty/clean blade should be perfect for moving chores. Congratulations on the house buddy.
Pioneer X - I always carry one, it has all I need 🙂
The small tinker or the alox farmer... Those are my favourites
Compact is my EDC go to!
The Pioneer X. Congratulations on the house.
always good with scissors
The New Soldier would be a good challenge
Explorer for sure.
My vote would be: carry the one you'd get the most use of. I bring my Rambler and Explorer everywhere (unless I'm at airport security's mercy). Hope you'll be left with a suitable sak after this. Stay kind everyone!

Yay new house! Pioneer X.
I would like to nominate vic mountaineer😊
Compact: best power to weight ratio imo. But I love alox too! Best wishes to you and your family in your new home, hope the move goes well 🙂
Compact…enough said.
Pioneer
Compact in black
Evo-grip S10
The pioneer. ✨
I vote for the explorer 😊
The fieldmaster
I vote for the Explorer
Pioneer x would be my choice.
Pioneer is not sak spirit
Compact!
Easily the Sportsman.
Its not the size its the way you use it.
New Explorer,😊
Just carry a cadet
Explorer 🧐

Pioneer X, yellow Compact, white Tourist) I would choose one of those.
