As someone who does a lot of work on electronics, the Rambler is great. The phillips is the the perfect size and also fits most screws in kids toys as well. I pair it with a Tourist because I like the 84mm size and find a lot of non-wine-related uses for the corkscrew. I do sometimes wish I had a larger pair of scissors but between the two I get along just fine.
A good SAK combo IMO: 93mm Vic Farmer and 74mm Vic Executive. Besides the knife blades, nothing else overlaps here. One has alox scales, awl, wood saw, can and bottle opener. The other has celidor scales w/tweezers and a toothpick, scissors, nail file, an additional small blade, and an orange peeler as a bonus. I find the 58mm models a little too small so the 74mm ones are a perfect extra for a thin 91mm or 93mm.
I carry a Jetsetter on the keychain and main knife rotating: Pioneer x , Compact , Huntsman plus , Ranger , Handyman , Hercules , Rangergrip 55 , Evogrip s 18 its fun to rotate them and decide every day . Great video , keep the good work up!

Just purchased the Midnite Manager to replace the Classic SD I've carried on my keychain for years. Really like having the little backup flashlight and ink pen. I always carry a larger SAK too and a while back I bought the Compact so I'll be EDCing these two for awhile, really enjoying the combo. Thanks for the video!
I’ve been using my small pen knife blade on the Huntsman to open boxes. Since we are in covid times, there’s always some alcohol nearby to just clean the sticky off of the blade before closing it.
Manager and Farmer X is probably my favourite combo. The Classic SD Alox is also a great complimentary model as it's so thin it can go in a wallet even and allows carrying a main that doesn't have scissors or a nail file.

I do a 58mm Mini Swiss Champ + Spartan. When I'm home I just carry the Mini Swiss Champ and of course have all my normal tools at the home. But if I leave home then I take my Mini Swiss Champ + Spartan. I rotate out the Mini Swiss Champ out with a Swiss Card occasionally.
Great video thanks. I EDC the SAK Handyman pared with the SAK Mini Champ that has the red light. I already carry a big white light flash light for EDC. At timeme I care the 3 SAK combo of the (old school) Mini Champ, (old school) Champion Plus and the CyberTool 34. Then I will have most of the many SAK tools but in sizes that fit my hand and work well.
Love the 84mm series of knives. Used to carry the small tinker all the time. Saw one of your older videos and tried a Sportsman out. Love it! Had a rambler for me keys but upped to a midnight manager last year. The pen has been the handiest part of that combo! Trying to score an old artisan for the scissors. I was torn between this and compact but with similar price I cant justify the midnight manager. I got the compact for a year now replacing my hunstman for urban carry. Love it!
Nice pick Dan. I just don't like thick key fobs or attachments so I'm sticking by my signature lite. I do like the multitool blade on the manager but I gave that and the tweezers up for a better light and smaller package. Thanks for showing it to us.
I’ve been carrying my Spyderco for the last 2 years as my main blade however instill carry a Classic SD and it’s indispensable. Speaking of the 91mm I was up on the ladder today needing to punch a hole through the gutter to put in a couple extra screws and I used the awl on an Explorer in have. With all the tools I own including a dedicated punch/awl nothing works better then a SAK sometimes. Finally I just got a colored toothpick and tweezers from Smoky Mountain Knife Works for the classic; check them out they are cool!
I love the midnight manager i got myself send in one for service because i lost the battery cap i got a brand new one in return with thr white light instead of red
It would be nice if TH-cam was actually sending me the notifications I signed up for. I carried the Midnite Manager for years but switched to the Signature. But there is no arguing the usefulness of the Manager! I think I dropped the Manager when I started carrying the Explorer with plus scales. If I was going with a two layer, I'd probably go back to a Manager. Really nice thoughts about SAK Combos!
In my opinion I feel like for a minimal carry the @victorinox pioneer and executive are a great option when paired together or even a farmer if you wanted a saw I haven’t been working so I don’t really need one rn The reason I feel these are great paired because you get scissors,nail file,orange peeler and toothpick/tweezers in the executive where on the pioneer you got large blade,can opener/2d Phillips,cap lifter/large slotted driver and awl.
I tried the rambler/farmer combo for a while but I found I was consistently missing the 91mm scissors. They're just more powerful than the 58mm scissors, and that ends up being relevant to me. So I generally carry a rambler and a ranger, and if I'm going to be in the woods I'll add a 111mm soldier or fireman.
Over the last several months I've gotten in the habit of always carrying a combo. I keep a Mini Champ in my 5th pocket of my jeans with whatever larger knife is in my pocket. If I'm carrying an Alox like my Pioneer or Pioneer X I go with the celidor Mini Champ. If I'm carrying my Explorer or another celidor model then I grab the Alox Mini Champ. That way I always have the scale tools with me.

Trying a Rambler on the keychain with a front-pocket Waiter including the corkscrew screwdriver. Might replace the Waiter with the Cadet. For an EDC pen I prefer a Parker Jotter with a Fisher Space Pen refill. Jotters are inexpensive, and their refills are probably cheaper and easier to find than SAK pen refills.
Great video Dan. That knife makes a lot of sense. I carry a pen and torch as edc so I use the rambler or rally (dependent on if my main carry has scissors). Totally agree that the mini phillips is super useful, especially if you have kids as their toys always have those fiddly little screws. Every time I watch one of your videos it makes me want to buy a new knife! You’ve cost me a lot of money in the past :) All the best

I was surprised to see your knife has a red light I thought Victorinox had discontinued the red light version in favor of the brighter white light. I have the Spartan lite & the Huntsman lite they are the early versions with the gray housing. My Midnight Manager is brighter and has a better beam then ether of the 91mm models. I understand Victorinox has upgraded the 91mm model LED light when they went to the clear plastic housing. Hopefully It should be at least as bright as the 58mm LED lights.
Great choice. If I didn't already carry a small Nightcore keychain flashlight I'd definitely be carrying the Midnight Manager As it is I carry it's little brother the Manager. I thought buying the Compact would make it superfluous but I'm not a big fan of the compact's nail file. Carrying something like the Manager/Midnight Manager as a companion to another SAK is definitely the way to go.
The best combo IMO would have to be the regular Manager and either the Tinker or the Electrician. The Pioneer X is also very good, but lacks the small blade which I find extremely useful. Anything thicker than the Pioneer X (about 15mm) and it just starts getting too cumbersome for regular use. Alot of guys swear by the Compact which makes sense if that's all you carry. But with the Manager on my keychain, I'd rather have some of the other tools than the redundancy of another pair of scissors. That and I have no use for the corkscrew :-)
Under 40 years old: Spirit X + Climber Over 40 years old: Spirit X + Explorer If it has to be only SAKS, then: Rucksack + Climber (or Pioneer X) Rucksack is my favorite for the outdoors, it has the best blade, saw and handle ergos, of any of my SAKS. I use them a lot, mostly outdoors since I live by a Forest. PS The small ones, are only good for trimming nose hair. LOL

I keep my blades clean after every use. Those little square alcohol pads from the pharmacy are great for a quick cleaning.

The Pen on my manager has outlasted 3 space pens, so I’ve given in to practicality and just use the manager pen… works great!

I carry a manager on my keychain with a compact in my pocket every day. Both are scratched and dented but my knives are work knives so it's all good.
