    I appreciate the quality of the video. For doing it all by yourself you do a great job. No unnecessary dialog and right to the point on each topic. Only dealing with what your doing and not getting side tracked onto other parts of the bike. Really nice and professional job.

    Hey man, i recently got myself a running 98' Banshee and one of the first things i noticed on the machine is that the clutch is very tight, i have rode on a Banshee in the past and i dont remember me needing to struggle with the clutch like i do with mine. was wondering if you had any input, thanks

      anything JASO-MA certified
      I run Rotella-T myself
      T-4 and T-6 is also JASO-MA
      Yamaha ran SAE-30 in them from the factory so I stick to engine oil rather than ATF,although many choose to run it. I leave my oil in for a whole season. I just change it during the winter or during a P.M.

    awesome video. I found out that this is what my issue is on my bike and Ive tightened it once already with a dab of locktite and it fixed it, rode it for about 20 miles and the adjustment screw went loose on my again. ( I did wait for the locktite to dry and the set screw was free from oils) any idea whats causing it to loosen other than the motors normal vibration? maybe theres and locking nut missing? and im just tightening the set screw with the nut against the basket but theres no outer locking nut?

    My banshee has free play in the clutch too, also when I'm in gear an I hold the clutch down and give it some gas the bike moves a little. Do you think this video will fix my problem? Thanks

    Question,
    I’m trying to adjust the freeplay set screw and it’s not adjusting. It seems really stiff. It won’t screw in at and the Phillips head it’s starting to strip out slightly so at this point I’ve stopped to prevent further damage to the setscrew. What would cause the screw not to adjust the play?

    I have an aftermarket lockout clutch on my banshee and it doesn’t have the nut to keep it locked down. Do you know what size nut that is, I’ve tried loctite but it hasn’t worked.

    Hey Kevin or anyone else have any experience with machining out the clutch cover so you can access this without removing the whole clutchcover/waterpump? I have seen some companies offering this service, jdscustom specifically. Most dirt bike engines work this way.

    I really appreciate your fast response on my other comment! I had a clutch cable break on my Banshee so i replaced it and it was fine for a few rides. I had it out just barely and it felt like the cable broke again but i looked and it didn't the little bracket that holds it down by the carburetors came out. But I held the cable and and feels like its not engaging the clutch could this possibly be the adjustment i need to make? Or is there something else that may have broken?

    • @kevingalindo1
      @kevingalindo1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you put the clutch arm back in and try it? There is gonna be alot of free play until the arm touches the pushrod in the main shaft. You won't be able to actuate the clutch by hand using the cable, you'll need to use the lever.

    • @adamfitzz123
      @adamfitzz123 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't I think the bolt is gone. I will go pick one up today and try it out. Thanks!

      Same thing here. So many parts. Apparently if you have been riding a lot at high speeds and holding the clutch in you can actually weld the ball to the end of the push rod

    On accident I tightened my adjuster screw too tight. Not crazy tight but too tight and heard a snap. What could I have broken? Could I have broken a clutch fiber because when I put it back when I release the clutch in neutral I hear a rattling noise and when I pull the clutch in it goes away

    • @richardkey4289
      @richardkey4289 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might have the pieces underneath the adjuster screw loose, a bearing & washers that ride against the clutch plate, turn your adjuster screw back, then in again , hopefully its just a few parts than weren't sitting right & need to be settled flat against each other, just speculating a possible cause...

      Yea you need to some, not much, but some. Otherwise the clutch won't engage all the way

    • @richardkey4289
      @richardkey4289 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a tiny bit a slack on pressure plate , have your lever adjuster almost threaded all the way in, but with a bit of room to add slack if needed when your machine has oil in it & is warm.

    When I pull the clutch is very hard. Do you thing that need adjustment or maybe is the clutch cable?

    • @richardkey4289
      @richardkey4289 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your cable might be dull of dirt, dust, crud, rust.you can detach it from lever, have it sticking straight up, use wire/ tape/ ect. & spray some lube to run down inside the cable.its best to spray a bit over a few days, its hard to get lube in there.if your cable is kinked or cracking apart , you should just get a new one

      car buyer
      Use this one, and if there’s no damage to the clutch rod it’ll be fine to reuse. Just sand the end and be sure it works smoothly.

    Isn’t there arrows on the case and the lever arm that has to be aligned?

    • @kevingalindo1
      @kevingalindo1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They won’t always line up unless you are using everything OEM and there is no wear what so ever on all your components. The first time you use any non OE. Part things change.

    hey man i was riding my banshee today and when i pulled in the clutch it stayed in after i let it go for a couple seconds then it popped out , it did that about 3 times then the clutch started to slip then the clutch locked up making the tires skid . the actuator arm turned 90 degrees facing the gear shift and locked up and the clutch cable popped off the actuator arm . the bike still starts first kick and goes into gear any ideas what the problem is ?

    • @kevingalindo1
      @kevingalindo1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      you'd have to rear down for a visual inspection. might be either a worn or broke actuator arm and or the clutch ros and ball welded together if you don't have a Chariot Pancake bearing.

    • @kevingalindo1
      @kevingalindo1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Richard Dassonville
      I dont, if I had a set of cases here I'd do one for you.
      you'll need to take a sharp chisel and split it down the side, then it'll come right out with needle nose. lube the outside of the new one and tape it back in with a socket the same diameter of the bearing. keep a small telescoping magnet handy incase you drop a needle bearing down inside.

    • @richardkey4289
      @richardkey4289 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Take the clutch spring screws off, turn them out evenly in stages, not removing one at a time, then your pressure plate will come off be careful, there are loose washers & bearing behind pressure plate, make sure you dont drop any or forget which order they go back in, take pics of each step! If press.plate is off, you can slide out clutch plates & examine them for warping/ heat damage.when putting press.plate & springs back on, screw bolts back on evenly in 3-4 stages
