That and Streets of Rage 2 (and 3 for being ahead of its time), Mega Turrican (for the best samples ever heard), and Adventures of Batman and Robin (for the best and most unique sounding Genesis OST ever)
As a huge SNES fanboy, I'll say this with absolute humility: this music blows almost all SNES games out of the water, well maybe not Chrono Trigger, but this gets close
@@thedarkflameknight7942 The European composers (Follin brothers, Jeroen Tel, Martin Galway, Rob Hubbard, etc) were the craziest tho, even compared to the Japanese. After all, their main background was the C64, a system well known for its flexible sound capabilities and the Amiga, one of the, if not THE first affordable computer to come with an sample-based audio chip.
Seriously. Takes me back to 94 when I was 6 playing this with my older brother on a Friday summer night after hoopin at the local basketball court/playground.
... pure badassness. You would think 15 years later people would come up with better songs and games, but wrong, all they focus on are pixel's and forget what games are all about, storyline and having fun and leaving memories cause their so bad ass. Don't get me wrong, some games are cool but nothing compares to these old games =]
Nope, I can't say all or even most of todays games suck. There are a lot of great games produced today. However, the feel of these old games is unique I agree.
I got to this via the music from Joels doom mapping contest 2 hellectric bogaloo. The music is in the second wad in the list called PanicinParadise made by a2rob.
@kirgeez i've managed from a little long ago to try the game & as i see yes that the stages OSTs should makes the player pumped up for the boss challenge X)
@SgtThom Reread my comment... "Forget what GAMES are all about, storyline and having fun" I didn't mean this one in specific, but who am I to argue with you? Everyone has different opinions. You stay true to your opinion and I'll stay true to mine. Peace
THIS GAME IS 25 YEARS OLD?! The music is so far ahead of its time.
timeless*
Preach.
Now it's about to be 30 years old

Thunder Force IV is easily the finest example of what the Sega Mega drive was capable of musically.

The best OST in the Genesis. This Game got me hooked to Game OST's until this very day.
Love the Genesis♥
What a bass line.
The bass line and that hook at 0:43. Good lord this song is amazing.
I think this stage's title, "Daser," is Engrish for "desert."
0:43 absolutely beautiful

Probably the classiest track in the game, it's subdue but motivating at the same time! Urging you to push onwards...
This song hits me so hard with nostalgia it’s practically overwhelming. Christ I’ve got goosebumps from a genesis song.....

Well, M2 did put out an updated port on Switch exclusively.
