I'm glad I'm not the only one that this song really speaks to. You really can hear the internal conflict in the notes. check out the cover by ornempire
I know your comment was 3 years ago but I don't care in the slightest. I have this song as my ringtone and I sometimes let the call go to voicemail just so I can listen to it. x
Even though this track doesn't have lyrics... At 0:48, you can sing the words "Stand up against myself" with the melody. This song already sounds amazing, but I would also love to hear a 80s style hair metal arrangement, complete with hair metal vocals.
_Stand up against myself_ _Stand up against myself_ _It's time to face the music insiiiiiide of my sooooooul_ _Stand up against myself_ _Stand up against myself_ _Won't let the darkness take control…_
Technosoft made some kick ass tunes. Herzog Zwei was another game that had great music. They knew how to get the most horsepower out of that YM2612 chip, man.
when i was younger, Outrun 2019 had my favorite Genesis soundtrack, but only recently i discovered Thunder Force IV and it's slowly taking #1 spot in my heart
+SouzoSagara77 A friend of mine linked me this song. I only just recently played this game because of this very video. I have to say though, the 50 FPS EU ROM of Thunder Force IV was significantly easier to play. The 60 FPS American ROM is Lightening Force: Quest for Darkstar. It suffers FPS drops when stuff gets hectic and that changes up the speed of incoming bullets almost randomly, adding another layer of fake lag difficulty.
Had this game stateside called "Ligthning Force"...the music was insane, among the best...used to get up outta bed and listen to the sound test before school....memories
This is still my most favorite version of all remixes and new interpretations i have heard. Every note is right there where it should be, it all fits perfectly. That's why we all come back to this over and over again. I always imagined an Eddie van Halen style real version (like the Top Gun theme) for this to be real. Like less synthesizers and more coil tapping notes and all the notes clearly played by guitars and just supported by keyboard. Sadly i was never good enough with my guitar to make it happen myself. It is still stuck in my head and my fingers can't make it reality...
I completed this game about two weeks ago and are still trying to do it on Maniac, but along with other ending themes for games like the Metal Gear Series, Zelda, and a few other old school gems out there... TO BE REWARDED WITH A THEME LIKE THIS LEAVES ME IN AWE! *0*
@MyVanillaIrony In thunderforce III they are seen clearly as male and female pilots. Maybe here they are they are couple or maybe not (but the ship is 2 manned for sure as seen in most illustrations) , maybe just pals, or maybe the girlfriend or boyfriend waiting home.. man i would hug my flying comrade like that too after the last 2 stage bosses.. holy shit xD
This music is great, no doubt. But that power chords rising notes at the exact 0:58 mark is something that gives me the bumps like very few musics do. This music is so great in fact I'll remix it with lyrics. I'll release it soon in my channel.
Genesjs..... lol. Funny mistake, most likely a keyboard error. The Genesis had good music, however, I am more of a fan of the SNES's sound capabilities than that of the Genesis.
+William Rodriguez. The SNES had great sound capabilities, but the actual compositions we got on the Genesis blew them all away. I've always preferred the raw and tougher sound of the Genesis.
That is very fair. I just like the soundtracks of games like Super Metroid or Megaman X or F-Zero. Essentially the triple A titles of the SNES have me more musically interested. I do not deny what was done with Genesis soundtrack, however.
William Rodriguez With games like Streets of Rage, Super Shinobi, MUSHA Aleste etc the Sega Genesis had for sure some awesome games with bombastic music. Though i am also a fan of the Super Famicon and i had both consoles back in the days i still prefer the Genesis due to its Bass. However its of course all a matter of opinion the SNES had also its moments as u mentioned but the music of its games is not comparable to the ones of the Genesis i think. Another one reason for the success on the Genesis was YUZO KOSHIRO :) Not to mention games like Out RUN, Afterburner or Super Hang on from The Arcade. Their medleys became timeless .....
@PsychoPoet406 i agree 100% this theme shivers my spine too. It evocates me feelings too complex to describe. I used to play this being 12,13... im almost 30 now and i still hold my breath and do like i am dodging somthin' when the lasers come out of nowhere in the fifth stage. I even "dodge" the crumbling ship! haha :) Thunderforce IV : The Shoot'em up
Okay I ended up here thanks to Valiant for Doom II, but I only got back into Doom because of Metal Squad sending me on a retro binge. The circle is complete 🙏
i remember reading about this game in a magazine. it got reviewed as B-, because of the difficulty. LOL i played this until i beat hard. many guys visiting me were wondering how i pull it off. frankly, today maybe ikaruga can be compared to it, but i cant finish that tbh :D
PS3 and 360 only have 128 bit (256mb dedicated ram and 500mb shared ram). This is accurate from multiple sources. Bits really don't matter much, it was just a way to confuse the market. They're both 128 "bit" systems.
Generally inferior? 2 more sound channels, higher usable audio quality, more song space and the ability to use squarewaves to emulate PCM/PWM, giving the Mega Drive a total of 4 digital audio channels along with 5 fm channels and a noise channel.
I don't it is too awesome, you would rise from your grave (as an Altered Beast) and kick the crap out of everybody while air-guitaring :). The song is just that awesome!
This game was made just to advertise this awesome music.
Thunderforce IV was not easy game. You had to EARN the right to hear this track. If like me you did it, you have my respect.
fred fredburger it had a sound test tho
TROLL TIME you're right now that I remember, I always just use the 99 lives cheat just to breeze through the game lol
Facts.. had to complete the game on mania
The only other games with music this food was thunder force3 and musha
fred fredburger There are so many people just have the same heart.Off cause I am.
It is so glad.
Such a powerful, emotional song, all this without any lyrics. This is a work of art.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that this song really speaks to. You really can hear the internal conflict in the notes. check out the cover by ornempire
feeeeels
There's a huge amount of 'story' in the track isn't there? It's like a sound of pure determination and against all odds defiance.
So true.. What is the name of the Artist??? This Guy Also did Elemental Master I think. I'm almost sure.
I know your comment was 3 years ago but I don't care in the slightest. I have this song as my ringtone and I sometimes let the call go to voicemail just so I can listen to it. x

I wrote some lyrics for it and I'll make an arrangement for when my anime comes out.
I'll hit Tomomi Otani and ask for his permission.

Earning this song after beating the game is one of the most gratifying feelings a game has ever made me feel.
I'm Blast Processing this out of my car windows.
Lol I blasting it in my car also and in my head I'm picturing an actual video clip of the ending
When all your major life goals have been achieved and you stand at the edge of a cliff, gazing at the sunset in the horizon...

I still stand by the fact I think Thunder Force IV has the best soundtrack not only on the Mega Drive, BUT OF ALL TIME.
I agree
The Three Kings of VGM:
Sonic Mania
Persona 5
Thunder Force 4

THE BEST TRACK ON THE GAME!!! PURE ROCK
As a kid felt this tune in my soul everytime i heard it...

This song is just fantastic!!
5 minutes ago... I finish the game... and this song... oh man...

+EchidnaKida So the Genesis isn't even powerful enough to handle its own games.. wow
*its so beautiful*
it's 2017..and I still LOVE the ending theme!!
holy shit... and this was the music of the genesis.....
Only legends got to hear this.
Hands down the greatest ending music ever.
Only the best will earn the right to hear this after achieving total victory.
Rynex's story doesn't end here. See y'all on planet Earth in Thunder Force V!

you could of never asked for a better reward, than to listen to this track when you beat the game.
One of the best shooters ever made! Ever! Only few of them come close.
This theme makes me en epic feeling. This song was reward for completing Thunder Force IV. True NUMBER 1 among ending themes of all time
