i have an original genesis and an authentic copy of this game and this track manages to _lag out the genesis's soundchip_ it's nuts and really speaks to how full this track's instrumentation is
True story. Even if Metal Squad it's praised more than any track of this game (which it's understandable), in my Model 2 Sega I had that thing with this one and War Like Requiem. Years later I tried in a new Model 1 and there's no problem. I think it's because the sound chip ram it's shared with the VDP in Model 2 onwards but no in Model 1 were each part has it's own dedicated ram, so it could be the size and animation of the bosses what causes that problem. This was one of those games like Dynamite Heady and Alien Soldier that absolutely fries the Genesis' hardware. Thunder Force IV, alongside the aforementioned ones, it's one of those that are not recommended to play into a Genesis 3, due the overheating problem in cheaper models while the processors are at full capacity.
This fight is something in a million, i mean, you fly at insane speed at sea level against a thing that tries to smash you with his tail, there are trails of water and stuff and when the gargoyle is blown to pieces around you everything in your mind is like ffuuuuuuuck yeah!!
I discovered this game a few days ago, it's a sahme I wasn't into SHMUPS as a kid. This series have one of the most hardcore soundtrack I've ever heard!
Probably the best ever end of level boss music in the entire galaxy known to man. As a kid i played the first stage repeatedly to listen to the action of the track unfold to accompany me in battle. A++++++
MaxKelvin Nah, that is for whimps, you don't listen to mission control while being this badass! No you crank up your sound system with Metal Music from the 80's in your cockpit turn of that nasty Mission Control shouting in your ear... and kick the arse of anything that even dares to come in your crosshair! That is the Thunderforce way! How do you think those pilots did it? By listening to mission control warning them? Pfft! ;).
True story. The Rynex isn't some joke either. Hell, the ships in Thunder Force V are back-engineered Fire-Leos, specifically, Rynex (Fire Leo-04, if i'm not mistaken).
@@xgundam99 I had to fly the piss out of Rynex here. My brother had the easy job, keep shooting. Incidentally the Galaxy federation mass produced the ship as the Fire Leo 04C Rynex R
Ill say it again, I like how none of these bosses go down quietly. Its either the fight is a long, drawn out slog-fest to determine victory or a stubborn grudge match with the broken body of the enemies fighting on. It's perfect
The most awesome boss music I've ever heard in my life. And boss music usually has a good beat but this just hits differently. All hail the Yamaha 2112
The FullCrumb I got a Sega Genesis on my 14th birthday lol. Came with this game. Love it to death. Can't beat it without the 99 lives thing you can do in the settings tho
ZOMG ! might have to load up my emulator and fight that first boss again with my hi fi on loud :) bring back those childhood memories of this epic game with it's awesome background music !
does the song imply that the boss is a destroyer whom is evil, or is it about the Rynex being a destroyer of evil/wicked things :-? deep shower thoughts...
FM synth POWER!! the Technosft people make magic with the Yamaha YM2612 all games of TS has this insane metal music check herzog zwei, Thunder force 2 y 3, Devil crash Regards!
I can justify spending £30 on a copy of this game, I live in the UK and TF4 is especially obscure. I love the soundtrack on this game so much that I've done covers of songs from it on my own channel, planning on doing this one next.
@herttaaa Let's think. This game can be revitalized, brought to the ignorant eyes of new gamers, and bring whoever owns it money for a game they released years ago. It can have achievements, high rez graphics, in game galleries, new features like coop and arrange music. All of these things can even be optional; choose to play it at it's most minimal like the Sonic CD and R-Type ports on XBLA. What fan wouldn't want this or rather bash the idea?
The metal.
It is strong with this one.
0:42 This theme is the one that appears in the SilvaGunner Boss Battle Fusion Collab.
This is a really good example of the style of music Genesis can do well.
Genesis can do well a lot of music styles in the proper hands.
+n fani This, techno, synth pop/rock, jazz/fusion are its strengths I would say.
+Okami™ and it's weaknesses?

This whole game is a lagfest, it’s actually terrible. The soundtrack is it’s saving grace.
This song kicks your ass and gives you courage to beat the boss !
It is official. I am addicted to this song. I keep replaying it over and over and over!!
Same 😆
Thunder force IV had the greatest boss themes ever!! they made you feel ready to takedown anything that was in your way.
Thunder Force III was even better
Probably the purest boss song ever.
WE’RE ALMOST AT THE END OF 2023 AND THIS SONG AFTER ALL OF THESE YEARS IS STILL KICKING ASSSSS 💪🏽!!!
ABSOLUTELY !!!!
the best boss song ever...
I used to keep the engine power button pressed during this fight to add drama xD
You weren't the only one
Same here! haha
A connoisseur! :)
Genius!
Andres Zyca Next time on every dramatic drumbeat for even more Drama! :D

With this and Lightning Strikes Again they really catch a new player right from the beginning
Really felt like I was battling aliens with this track.
Oh god, my CHILDHOOD.
I used to play this game just for the badass music.
One of the best soundtracks i've ever heard :D

Strong Doom vibes from this one.
It's amazing how each boss had its own theme. Most games didn't go the extra mile. Some talented fucking people made this game.
Still one of my favourite game music pieces. Man it got the blood pumping.
No shmup soundtrack has come close to the energy of this. Not even the stuff Manabu Namiki made when he discovered the amen break.
*MUSHA has entered the chat*
This track doesn't sound like E1M1.
E1M1 sounds like this track.
@@Crimonit This game came out a year prior to Doom, so yes.
E1M1 is a slow piece of shit in comparison to Evil Destroyer
It's more just a general thrash metal riff.
Everybody, let's bully this person into our opinions
Y'all should grow up already
part of what makes this boss fight the most memorable to me is this awesome music , combined with the boss alert sound :D
I still hear the siren in my mind listing to this right as that battleship jets out of the ocean dropping off that giant mutant Seahorse dragon thing.
***** The only thing I wish this game had was the Darius style boss intros; WARNING! WARNING! VIOS BATTLE ARMOR 'GARGOYLE DIVER' HAS BEEN DEPLOYED!!

The whole DOOM (PC version) OST is a rip off of the band Megadeath.

Awesome track.Love It!
I love this music
This is in a completely different class of quality when compared to tons of other Genesis games, wow o:
holy shit the genesis soundchip went really stupid fucking hard
Anyone noticed that First Doom game's ost "Doom's gate" has the similarity to this ost? Wasn't that coincidence??
Well, to be fair, this game was released a year prior to doom, so it could be coincidental, maybe doom took inspiration from this
They're both metal and they're both badass lol
One of 2 of the greatest shooter games ever. This and ikaruga
Holy crap! That sounds like a remix of the Doom theme!
This is a fucking great theme
Best Sountracks:
Streets of Rage 2
Thunderforce 4

Elemental Master🔥
Shinobi 3
Do you mean Jewel Master? Because its OST is up there
HAhahaha. I had a mix tape of the various songs from this game. The music still kicks ass even today.
very good!
It makes me think of the very first level in the original DOOM.
E1M1, i have the same feeling
Absolutely
@herttaaa I agree entirely, pity my mega drive died many years ago, I mourn it to this day...
It's no use, General Calrissian, our crusiers can't repel metal of that magnitude!

The first of many bosses to come.
No remorse, no repent
We don't care what it meant
Another day, another death
Another sorrow, another breath
Dat square wave.
I was not expecting this to be so fucking metal.
One of the most baddass soundtracks on the Genesis next to Gauntlet 4.
Their hearts will begin burning right now
Is it wrong for me to have this as my ringtone? - should get my attention don't you think! :)
This here's proof that the Doom 32X soundtrack shouldn't have sounded like crap.

does the song imply that the boss is a destroyer whom is evil, or is it about the Rynex being a destroyer of evil/wicked things :-?
