Always complete & concise, so much controversy surrounding this M1 chip, people want the ipad pro to be a Macbook, i say let the ipad be an ipad and the Macbook be a Macbook, great video, not that hard to figure out, keep up the great work...

iPadOS will be allowing apps to request memory above the limit, so an M1 iPad with it's larger memory limit will be even more important. Per MacRumors report on iPadOS 15 Beta 2
all the news is that this did not happen with the recent update, and another update of the OS isn't supposed to come for another year. have you got some confirmed news otherwise?
@@akafuguvids what the heck are you talking about?! iOS and iPAD os has beta 1 and 2 and 3 and so forth. Updates dont happen after a year. Even ios 14 didnt stop updating like ios 14.1 to 14.7. There are updates each month...but to people under beta
@@samuelmanny6231 Hope you are right. I am just repeating what i've heard from many youtube reviewers who are very disappointed in the recent update and seem very pessimistic that apple is going to change it for the better anytime soon. Everyone seems convinced apple will continue to deliberately handicap the iPad and keep it from reaching it's potential as a computer replacement in hopes people will buy both.
When comparing the specs, I couldn’t justify an M1 iPad; so I got 2020 A12Z Refurbished and saved some money. hopefully I don’t need more for a while 🤞🏻
i have used the 2020 version of ipad pro 11" for over 6 months, i have no complaints about it. as i promise that i will only upgrade once 5 years or more, but whether it gets more future versions of ipados then it will be even longer to wait before upgrade. the 2021 version looks very nice tho, but i don't need to upgrade unless i need more storage more than 256gb (which is the option i have choosen because my first store where i bought ipad pro didn't sell 512gb or 1tb, even 2021 version too). to be honest the 12.9" version has a better display, but the size is too big to be familar with, so 11" version is the alternative option for me
I just got my first iPad about 2 weeks ago and After all my research I went with the M1 128gb. It’s been great so far. Nice and fast and it looks great. I went with the 11 inch because I just don’t need the larger size because I have a 13 inch 2019 MacBook Pro. I am really enjoying view content and thinking about getting procreate for work and fun
I have the 4th gen iPad pro Its been having issues bcuz of the storage. Every time I took it to the apple store it got worse. Now after taking it to the apple store last night ...it comes on to the lock screen and shuts off. Im trying to start a business and need my iPad to design I just had a mini crying fest 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Whipped my tears and said maybe God has something in store for you so start researching the M1 Thank you for your video
Unless you some super hardcore on the go music/video editing ... 3rd gen even, is just as capable and you won't lose sleep over anything "especially" the wasted money for the performance increase that you will NEVER notice day-2-day... (for the avg user) .. i could give the majority (which is a avg user) a 2021 for a month and one day swap it out of the blue and they wouldn't even know it ... Understanding the power level of what software needs vs what current hardware is out should be the focus, not "because its newer" ...
I have both. Bear in mind non HDR content is literally identical on these ipads, the screen is not a big deal or a selling point imo. Even looking at photos theyre identical.
Thanks for making this video. I'm currently on an ipad air 2 and looking for an upgrade that will serve me well for the same length of time. I'm heading of to university next year so think I'm going to buy the 2021 version.
I needed a 256 Gb model, but I found a deal on a nearly new 2020 11 Pro. The 2021 has the exact same display, so the only things that I'd be paying more for are the better CPU, more RAM and Thunderbolt I/O speed. But tests in magazines have shown that IOS doesn't generally make use of these much, and in 90% of use cases you couldn't tell them apart. And the 2020 model was already very quick. So I saved about $200 and got the older one.
I bought the 2020 iPad a couple of months after it came out. It’s currently 2023 and it’s been working perfectly fine. Ps: That’s just my personal opinion. Choose what’s best for u and make the decision that will keep u happy with your purchase
@@Kapa-co8kr it's still doing amazing. Very fluid with the 120hz. I used it with notability, Goodnotes, and 3D anatomy. They all work perfectly fine. It's still very smooth with note taking apps. i've had the same question a while ago cuz me myself i'm a medical student and i want to replace my laptop with ipad for studying/netflix . after lots of digging i found that you don't need a pro model ipad for studying. studying itself doest require such high specs so it doesn't matter weather its the 20 or 21 pro models. im getting myself the 20 pro 11 inch mostly because of the high resolution screen for watching content online as a treat
which storage option is better? 128gb or 256gb? I am going to use it to watch movies and videos, take notes, draw illustrations, and light photo editing.
Thanks for the video! I’ve been using the 2017 model 9.7 inch, for 3 years now, and I want to upgrade to a newer 12.9-inch. I’m a professional illustrator so about 90% of my iPad usage is all Procreate, and I use quite a lot of layers. Besides that, I just use it for TH-cam and some casual gaming once in a while. Should I get the 2020 or the 2021?
You can get the iPad Pro 2020 for around 829 (12.9 inch) bucks from Apple Refurbished, and for the M1 iPad Pro 12.9 inch, it’s $1100 new. If you really wanna get extreme with your workflows and gaming, go with the M1 iPad Pro. Not to say that the iPad Pro 2020 sucks now, it’s very very capable. But just for some future proofing, go with the M1 iPad Pro I am sure it would be worth it. I use an iPad Mini 5, and it’s brilliant and I can’t imagine how powerful the M1 iPad Pro would be.
I’m currently using an ipad 9th gen and love it. But getting frustrated with some things. Seen an iPad Pro 2020 used for around £500 with one year warranty. Considering selling the iPad 9 should get around £150 for it so will only pay around £350 for the iPad Pro more or less the same price as what I paid for the ipad 9. Think buying flagship models from a year or two ago are becoming more appealing than buying budget or mid range models when you can get them for more or less the same price nowadays and with warranties
Great video!! Can you do a comparison between, the iPad Pro 2020 vs the iPad Air 4? I am thinking of buying an ipad but don't know if i should bang the buck
Great video, very informative. I am looking to purchase my first iPad and I always seem to go for the best. I will be using it mainly to watch video and you tube, which model might you suggest, also would you consider buying a refurbished iPad from Apple. Thank you in advance.
So here's my issue. I have had the 11 inch 2020 ipad pro model and love it. I only use it for Procreate ND medibang paint. However.. an iPad pro 1tb same year became available.. with the apple pro keyboard case (alone thats 299), apple pencil Gen 2 and Bluetooth wireless mouse All for 300... I'm not looking for top of the line as I only use it for drawing in those programs and light video editing on the go. Do you think having a 12.9 compared to my 11 inch model would be better?
Oh gosh Im still having a dilemma, even after this amazing review. I’m a soon to be college student, who mainly uses procreate and gaming on their iPad (mostly Genshin impact), as well as a bit of TH-cam and Netflix. I’m not in a place to splurge on a hefty price, but if the difference is small I wouldn’t mind getting the M1 iPad… the question is tho- is it worth it? Or should I just buy a refurbished iPad Pro 2020, considering that I’d have to calculate an Apple Pencil + a keyboard to the overall cost..?
I would prioritize the refurbished 2020 from Apple (they replace the shell and add a brand new battery) and use the remaining $ to buy accessories. As much as I despise the price tag, the Magic Keyboard truly is something. The 2020 model is strong enough to last you years.
I'd like to know more about the A12 bionic chip and M1. My main concern is if the A12 chip will be obsolete in the near future (considering that it was launched in 2018). With this, should I get the M1? Or is the A12 chip still good? I'm more concerned about how long I'll be able to use it and also the updates...
Yeah I would like someone else to comment on this. I need a new laptop/suitable iPad and need to know if the 2020 version will good for app updates and software upstate’s over the next 5 years or so. Does anyone know any information about this?
@@ballooneyjr4294 Nixe one. I’ve got it and it’s going great. Especially with the Apple laptop/keyboard case. I think I’ll always have an iPad in my life now. Great devices. And being able to hotspot if from my phone has opened up even more capabilities. The build quality is just amazing. Slick and sexy.
I just bought a 2020 11” iPad Pro off of Apple certified refurbished lol. Sure the new one will be out soon, but I’m very happy bc I just want to watch Netflix and stuff but I get motion sick on a 60hz display so I’m happy I really don’t care about the slight difference in speakers cause I use my AirPods for everything
do you think the m1 will last longer and be snappier? nice it's the new format apple is transitioning too I'm a bit worried! the old one is 200$ cheaper after tax and everything
The conclusion? The 2020 iPad Pro is completely justifiable and still a performance beast in 2021 If at all I may see the centerstage and the Plugin SSD usability with the M1 iPad for heavy users maybe people who do a lot of presentations
Don’t agree with buy it nice or buy twice, I got the MacBook Pro just before M1 was announced and I watched as it wiped a huge amount of money of my Intel Mac. I would say learn to accept limitations as the latest speeded is not worth the money in most cases. Before you know it m2 will be out and these M1s might actually have something. Makes sense in a laptop but it will be years before anyone takes much advantage of the iPad m1s. I wish apple would make some decent software to start running on these high end processors like final cut and Logic Pro.
I'm planning to buy an ipad pro. Should I get the ipad pro 11' M1 128gb or ipad pro 11' 2020 256gb? The price is about the same here in my country. Help me choose please.
I need you advice as I only want to buy it nice and not twice, if you had a first-gen iPad 12.9, and you wanted to upgrade, and there was only £140 difference for a secondhanded 2020 or 2021, which would you buy 2020 256gb unlocked £630 and the same spec 2021 £770
I’ve been using the iPad Pro 12.9 inch 1st gen since 2016, it still works good but I’m finding some apps fail to load sometimes or load slowly. Going to get myself the iPad Pro 11 inch 2021 this Christmas, looks like there’s been enough spec improvements compared to 1st gen to justify the cost of upgrading.
advice: there’s not much difference between 2021 and 2020, you cant even tell them apart on their appearance. my sister got the iPad Pro 2020 last year and i got the 2021 this year and the 2020 still runs like new and there’s almost no difference between our iPad.. though the 2020’s sound was different and i think it was just the aging process
@@ADIWAII05 Thank you for the advice. I bought the iPad Pro 11 inch 2021 today, not going to use it till Christmas. In the UK the 2020 and 2021 models are priced more or less the same so it worked out better to just get the 2021 model.
@@london2064 if you’re in a budget then i think you should get the 2020. its not bad. the M1 chip is very unnecessary because ipad pro 2020 is enough to run almost everything or everything but if you have enough money to buy the ipad pro 2021 then go for it!.. i heard its running much faster and smoother and the battery life is good
I will point out that it’s not the processor that makes the difference sometimes, it’s the RAM, 2020 iPad with 6GB RAM may be good for now…. My 2018 iPad has 4gb RAM and while opening some high res PDF’s it struggles badly and stops responding sometimes and/or crashes…. Also, more RAM means apps are kept in the RAM, therefore you can go back and forth between apps without worrying about reloading or loosing work

I've been using the 2010 MacBook, but it was starting to be a little slow so I upgraded to the M1 MacMini and an M1 iPad for portable stuff. I'm excited about having a tablet with slightly less memory, but otherwise just as powerful as my desktop.
Hii can you tell me what generation is your ipad?
@@nimishasingh2807 I think the box said 3rd generation? It's the newest iPad Pro that has the M1 chip.
YES!!! A new video. And on a topic I’ve been waiting for. Thanks for the serotonin this morning, Sagi!
Hope you enjoyed it!!!
@@TechGearTalk Always! Hence why I have my notifications set up when you post a new video 🙌
Always complete & concise, so much controversy surrounding this M1 chip, people want the ipad pro to be a Macbook, i say let the ipad be an ipad and the Macbook be a Macbook, great video, not that hard to figure out, keep up the great work...
Excellent review.
I am using the 2020 iPad Pro and I can see it is more than enough for now.
Glad this was helpful. Congrats on the iPad Pro!
Great review, one of the best I have seen. I already have the MacBook Air M1, so the iPad Pro 2020, was good for my casual needs. thanks again for the review
thanks so much for your thorough review, you've helped me, as I'm buying considering second-hand, the price difference £140, so I'm thinking of buying 2021 12.9
iPadOS will be allowing apps to request memory above the limit, so an M1 iPad with it's larger memory limit will be even more important.
This is incredibly useful! Thank you for sharing.
When comparing the specs, I couldn’t justify an M1 iPad; so I got 2020 A12Z Refurbished and saved some money. hopefully I don’t need more for a while 🤞🏻
i have used the 2020 version of ipad pro 11" for over 6 months, i have no complaints about it. as i promise that i will only upgrade once 5 years or more, but whether it gets more future versions of ipados then it will be even longer to wait before upgrade. the 2021 version looks very nice tho, but i don't need to upgrade unless i need more storage more than 256gb (which is the option i have choosen because my first store where i bought ipad pro didn't sell 512gb or 1tb, even 2021 version too). to be honest the 12.9" version has a better display, but the size is too big to be familar with, so 11" version is the alternative option for me
bless! i already bought the 2020 model but your videos never fail to entertain me!
So glad Sky!

I just had a mini crying fest 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Whipped my tears and said maybe God has something in store for you so start researching the M1
Thank you for your video
Ahaha! I see what you did there! Great review and the detail is fantastic. I release my 30-day look at the M1 iPad later today!
Appreciate you watching!
I hope you're still working on the video of iPad Pro 2020 in 2021 and I'm waiting for it eagerly!!
Very informative and well balance review. Many thanks!
Thanks for the information I have the iPad Pro 4th Generation 12.9 I like it not missing much
I love your reviews man. Big fan. Well played. 👍
Awesome video, it was very helpful, thank you!

I have both. Bear in mind non HDR content is literally identical on these ipads, the screen is not a big deal or a selling point imo. Even looking at photos theyre identical.
What is HDR content, is it accessible on Netflix, TH-cam and such?
here because I have the 2020 11" and I'm not sure if I would like the 12.9"
but I love the 11 inch!! ((: 😂❤

What has better screen? 2018 12.9 iPad Pro, or 2020 iPad Pro 11 inch?
I’m upgrading from a 2013 iPad Air. Hopefully I’ll see a difference when it arrives later today!
Im a nerd too when it comes to tech
Such a hard choice . Movies look amazing on the 2021. But the 2020 can be found for under 800$ at some retailers. Thanks for a great reviews
Is the 2020 being sold brand new or refurbished??
If brand new, where can I get one?
@@jordanspence8580 hey at the time of my comment it was Best Buy. But you can get it at the Apple refurbished store which is good as new…
Great video since it’s almost 2022 would it be better to buy the 2021 iPad Pro Thank you Have a Merry Christmas 🎄
For my budget I’m looking at the 2020 iPad Pro vs the air 5, has the m1 got the winning decision factor?
What did you end up getting?

@@Tom-ji5ck I got the 12.9
Very good video. Thank you.
Now i see that deeper black you're talking about haha thanks for that comparison
Thanks for the video. Got one hell of a deal for a "like-new" refurbished 1TB 2020 iPad
@Sam sp why? Got mine for €990 in a pretty damn good condition with a 3 year warranty.
Apple is asking >1400€ for the exact same iPad (refurbished).
I have the 2020 iPad Pro 11 inch it’s great but the software is really LIMITING
it’s indeed a big hinderance so no point in getting the newer models
I needed a 256 Gb model, but I found a deal on a nearly new 2020 11 Pro. The 2021 has the exact same display, so the only things that I'd be paying more for are the better CPU, more RAM and Thunderbolt I/O speed. But tests in magazines have shown that IOS doesn't generally make use of these much, and in 90% of use cases you couldn't tell them apart. And the 2020 model was already very quick. So I saved about $200 and got the older one.
Does now updated in October 2021
I have a screen protector on my 2021 iPad Pro and the 2020 magic keyboard case works just fine, closes with no problem.
Appreciate you sharing!
I bought the 2020 iPad a couple of months after it came out. It’s currently 2023 and it’s been working perfectly fine.
Ps: That’s just my personal opinion. Choose what’s best for u and make the decision that will keep u happy with your purchase
Ist still nice now ? Fast quick and ist enough for taking notes ?
@@Kapa-co8kr it's still doing amazing. Very fluid with the 120hz. I used it with notability, Goodnotes, and 3D anatomy. They all work perfectly fine. It's still very smooth with note taking apps. The only thing i noticed is that the iPad slightly overheats with heavy/intesive 3D apps now, but not bad at all. Again, this is just my personal experience with the iPad
@@sk9584 thank you for telling me you're experience, appreciate your time , I bought a MacBook last month for my math classes but I haven't been using it that much , since I need.something to write on and my lessons became messy with alot of papers meanwhile I barely use my MacBook , I think ipad will do the job
Hey im thinking of buying the Ipad pro 2020 (12z) with 128gb instead of the M1 air 64gb. The 12z is just 20 dollars more expensive and it is apple certified refurbished. Do you think its a good buy? Will only use the iPad for not that intense CPU performance so what do you think?
Waiting for my 2021 ipad pro 🤞1st choice was ipad air 5 but the 256gb model is just 20usd cheaper than 11 pro, so switched my choice. no available stock in our country, have to preorder it overseas. But still had to wait 12 weeeks@@@@!!! 😣😣 Ive already bought a pencil and cases
hi! what do you recommend for a medical college student? ipad pro 11 2020 or 2021? Thank you 🥺
i've had the same question a while ago cuz me myself i'm a medical student and i want to replace my laptop with ipad for studying/netflix . after lots of digging i found that you don't need a pro model ipad for studying. studying itself doest require such high specs so it doesn't matter weather its the 20 or 21 pro models. im getting myself the 20 pro 11 inch mostly because of the high resolution screen for watching content online as a treat
Great comparison
Thanks - very helpful! :-)
which storage option is better? 128gb or 256gb? I am going to use it to watch movies and videos, take notes, draw illustrations, and light photo editing.
128gb is plenty.
I'm here for the juicy B-roll
@@ahujapradyut what do you mean by future proofing
but if I have windows as my main computer and I don't have thurdebolt or usb-c in it. so better not go with apple?
Great comparison video. Now for the real question; do we wait for the M2 iPad pro?
I’m currently using an ipad 9th gen and love it. But getting frustrated with some things. Seen an iPad Pro 2020 used for around £500 with one year warranty. Considering selling the iPad 9 should get around £150 for it so will only pay around £350 for the iPad Pro more or less the same price as what I paid for the ipad 9. Think buying flagship models from a year or two ago are becoming more appealing than buying budget or mid range models when you can get them for more or less the same price nowadays and with warranties
Same or you could get the ipad pro 1st gen or get a refurb m1
Or one on fb if you have a new ipad please tell me how its going

Which one would you recommend 2020 refurbish through apple 1TB or 2021 256GB cellular model im on a budget of $1500
Oh gosh Im still having a dilemma, even after this amazing review. Or should I just buy a refurbished iPad Pro 2020, considering that I’d have to calculate an Apple Pencil + a keyboard to the overall cost..?
you are literally me man
I would prioritize the refurbished 2020 from Apple (they replace the shell and add a brand new battery) and use the remaining $ to buy accessories. As much as I despise the price tag, the Magic Keyboard truly is something. The 2020 model is strong enough to last you years.
M1 is the way to go after the update
I'd like to know more about the A12 bionic chip and M1. My main concern is if the A12 chip will be obsolete in the near future (considering that it was launched in 2018). With this, should I get the M1? Or is the A12 chip still good? I'm more concerned about how long I'll be able to use it and also the updates...
Get the 2020 pro
@@ammara4349 is the 2020 pro a better option if I don't really need the new features in the 2021 pro?
Yeah I would like someone else to comment on this. I need a new laptop/suitable iPad and need to know if the 2020 version will good for app updates and software upstate’s over the next 5 years or so.
Does anyone know any information about this?
@@ballooneyjr4294 Nixe one. I’ve got it and it’s going great. Especially with the Apple laptop/keyboard case. I think I’ll always have an iPad in my life now. Great devices. And being able to hotspot if from my phone has opened up even more capabilities. The build quality is just amazing. Slick and sexy.
Which screen is better? Do you see a difference with the mini LED?
I just bought a 2020 11” iPad Pro off of Apple certified refurbished lol. Sure the new one will be out soon, but I’m very happy bc I just want to watch Netflix and stuff but I get motion sick on a 60hz display so I’m happy
I really don’t care about the slight difference in speakers cause I use my AirPods for everything
Sooo I have a 1st generation ipad, and i’m trying to see why I want to upgrade.
do you think the m1 will last longer and be snappier? nice it's the new format apple is transitioning too I'm a bit worried!
the old one is 200$ cheaper after tax and everything
The conclusion?
The 2020 iPad Pro is completely justifiable and still a performance beast in 2021
If at all I may see the centerstage and the Plugin SSD usability with the M1 iPad for heavy users maybe people who do a lot of presentations
I wish apple would make some decent software to start running on these high end processors like final cut and Logic Pro.
can you please tell me free animation software other than flipaclip and animation desk.....i have ipad air 4.....please help

It’s not “Oh! Lead,” it’s “O.L.E.D.” It is an initialization, not an acronym.

Do I have to use faceid to be alble to access the ipads in this video?
I will point out that it’s not the processor that makes the difference sometimes, it’s the RAM, 2020 iPad with 6GB RAM may be good for now….
My 2018 iPad has 4gb RAM and while opening some high res PDF’s it struggles badly and stops responding sometimes and/or crashes….
Also, more RAM means apps are kept in the RAM, therefore you can go back and forth between apps without worrying about reloading or loosing work
