    finally someone who advocates advertising for musicians in an actionable way. i have used ads to grow my channels successfully. thank you for your actionable advice.
    question:
    for selling merch to a new audience, would you run a conversions campaign, tease the music and link to the store? or is there a more effective way to sell merch?

    • @Burstimo

      I wouldn't suggest attempting to sell merch to a new audience as they need to be invested in you to want to buy anything. Sell to existing audience

    • @DrewGallagherMusic

      @@Burstimo the only thing that is confusing to me is if you are retargeting an audience that knows you and seen your videos and they came from a non conversions goal campaign, then you would be advertising to people less likely to convert. curious what campaign goal optimizations work best at each stage for you?

    Sorry but this whole thing looks a bit fishy... whenever I hear someone has millions of streams on Spotify I just check their TH-cam videos because a popular song on Spotify should ultimately also have a decent amount of views on TH-cam and, more importantly, have lots of real comments (cause of course TH-cam streams can also be fake but real-sounding comments are much harder to fake). So your artist has this one song with over 2 million streams on Spotify but on TH-cam it has around 2'000 views and 2 comments? Hard to believe that those Spotify streams are real but maybe you can explain this massive difference in streams

    • @ricerice245

      her campaign was completely targeted at Spotify and it didn't send anyone anywhere else accept Instagram Spotify and tiktok, so that means 2thosund people actually searched for him and didn't click a ad or get caught in tiktok or Instagram algorithms, which means essentially he's dependent on those 3 platforms

    • @ricerice245

      thats okay tho because as a small artist managing every platform is difficult, if you want to spread it more i recommend linktree or something for the ads which will result in lower stats but it'll make people spread

    • @anon8qwhekq

      This is a really good point..what this post is saying..if you have 2 million authentic plays then that should translate to more than 2000 plays on TH-cam, even if the marketing is just for Spotify a lot of fans will check out the TH-cam channel if they actually like the artist..2000 is a very small number

    • @ricerice245

      @@anon8qwhekq idk if you have tested this and checked the statistics but they didn't just market to Spotify, they made a marketing bubble. in my experience when you market to one platform even if they like the music the usually stay unless you send them somewhere else. how many times can you really say you googled a artist realistically? then how many times did you then click the song, probably not much, people are lazy and if you make a bubble where you send them to all the same places they tend to stay

    • @ricerice245

    Basically if you saw the video by Jesse another marketing guy he said the girls and the gays rule social becusse strsight men don’t use it as much and not into commenting about their emotions so isn’t this really always ads to them not men for any pop song? Hard rock maybe men or metal more? What about Edm love songs or dun songs house?

    • @Burstimo

      If you look at data, it’s pretty split with users - around 50% men, 50% women.
      The content you create has to be for the audience you want, so if you’re posting super emotional content, yes you’re more likely to have women following and engaging.
      You have to think of the audience you want and what they’d engage with.
      Saying social media is just ruled by girls and the gays is mad. Scroll through these comments, it’s mainly men, our audience is mainly men. It completely depends on the artist/creator.
      It’s easier to come up with reasons for why something is difficult or excuses for why you can’t succeed, than put in the work…
