Once again you have provided an excellent insight into the musicianship of 4 guys who did not get the credit they deserved, especially Nesmith who literally spearheaded the country rock genre that would take off a few years later (The Eagles, Poco, The Byrds, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, etc.). HEAQUARTERS is a masterpiece!! Thanks so much.
Thanks so much for this. This song rocks! Especially the guitar work. I love the happy bouncy feel of it. Micky really is one hell of a singer. So underated. IMO, he was just as good if not better than his contemporaries. He certainly had a greater range than the Beatles ever had, that's for sure, and Mike is in a class all by himself. He definitely can hold his own with the likes of a Denny Dougherty or a Paul Simon. The Monkees were awesome in a commercial pop rock application. No wonder they sold millions of records.
I broke down and bought myself a 12 string Blonde Gretsch. In the store I just strummed and picked some progressions. When I got home and tuned up, plugged in, that intro was the very first thing I played. Sometimes childhood dreams do come true! 😀
Thanks, I love it. I especially like Monkees background vocals, whoever is singing. So consistently good. It made me so happy, just the other day, to hear my 7 year old grandson singing "Mary, Mary, where you going to"!🥰
man you did a great job on this ,,, but how did you isolate without having the masters ,,and the drums sound,,not eddy hoe ,,wow it sounds like a beginner ,which is it ,,they carried him and thats cool ,,,it was the spirit of the time
Nesmith, my favorite Monkee

That's Mike on lead.

Great video...I love hearing the individual parts...and that everybody participated!
Wow never really heard Davy's harmony vocals on this before. So good!
Brilliant from start to finish.
💗
Amazing Stuff! 😊❤
These are interesting videos. It would be really cool if you would remix them and give us alternate versions!
Mick turned out to be a great drummer.
やっぱり こうやって聴くとミッキーのドラムはバスドラムの踏み方が普通に8ビート踏めてないですね 大好きですけど
