A friend pointed out when I mentioned that when Mike died, there is going to be a huge gap in the greats like Nesmith. We had better be appreciating and cherishing the celebs we grew up with. Micky, who is the last of the Monkees, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Ringo, Neil Diamond, a myriad of those people who made our formative years as magical as they are. Even Prince, George Michael and Tom Petty, who died way before they should have. We aren't replacing those people because there just isn't anyone who is equal to them.

I’m heartbroken about the passing of Michael Nesmith. I grew up watching The Monkees when I was 8 years old and I had a crush on all of them, especially Michael lol. That show was so wild and crazy that whenever I watch it now I freak out at how wild and crazy it was lol. Those were some wonderful memories and when someone like this passes away it’s almost like a part of us passes away as well. Enjoy every day as much as possible because life is so precious.

Mike had the same kind of heart issues that Davy had died from I guess ..I bet know Micky must be heart broken and very sad but so are his fans but hes in a much better happier place than here on earth ! I know hes happy and Davy Peter are singing up there with Mike !

It saddens me and my deepest condolences go out to the Nesmith family and Mickey for losing his brother. My parents introduced my brother and I to the monkees.

Been a fan since Monkees were first on when I was young and my older sisters watched them on Saturday evenings.
Then as a teenager, I was one of the few who bought all Nesmith's solo albums. I still listen to his music on cd's.
He was eccentric and very talented.

Mike was the one who encouraged the others to play on records and write songs. Peter was a multi-insteumenfalist and Micky played rhythm guitar in bands. He had to lean the drums, which he did. Davy learned to play guitar and could also play drums and bass occasionally.
Mike's accomplishments outside the Monkees are vast and underrated.
RIP, Mike. You fought the good fight for your fellow Monkees. You were also polite to your fans.
