    Great lesson! Shows in fine detail all the important variations and subtle nuances that make this song so good. Also, I really appreciate the way you've used your black shirt, blending in with a black background, visually presenting just the guitar and your hands - no other unnecessary distractions, so clean, clear and simple - it works so well! Thank you!

    At age 15 in 1990, being a lifelong Beatles fan, I picked up a copy of Hot Rocks 1964-1971 out of curiosity as to who this band was that seemingly in competition with the Beatles. Two tracks jumped out of me: Honky Tonk Women and Brown Sugar. Those were the songs that made me say "I gotta get a guitar." I've always thought Brown Sugar was one of the most fun songs I know of to play. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to see them live before this gem was cut from the set list. You did a fabulous job here, as always! All the best!

  • @2008alde

    This is why most cover bands never get these songs to sound right because they were either unaware of Kieth's alternate tuning or they guitarist was not about to retune the guitar in the middle of a set or bring a second guitar tuned for what may have been just one song .. The Stones can do this like many other professional artists. My three favorite guitar heroes that used alot of alternate tuning are Keith, Mick Ralphs ( Mott and Bad Company ) and of course George Harrison, to name but a few. Peter Frampton tells an interesting story about the time he was summoned to Harrison's home as Peter was going to be one of many musicians that would eventually play on All Things Must Pass. Whole waiting on George in his guitar room, Peter strummed some of the guitars when he came upon one that had open tuning and was instantly influenced. Great vid!!

I've had a copy of Let It Bleed in my truck CD player for some time now, it's all I've listened to. Occurred to me that as much as I enjoy listening to the virtuoso players, you don't need to play at any higher level than what the Stones achieved. It's brilliant...

    You nailed it when you said " then just do what you want " I have been trying to get this song just right for years, no chance of doing that I at last realised, once you have the basic thing right, just do what you want no one will notice, the bit where it goes into the chorus I have been doing different I think yours is the better thanks for that and your vid, the hardest part for me leaning this song was were the up strokes are I think that is the key.

    As I'm only just starting out on my journey into guitars, this was way ahead of me, but none the less a fantastic watch. The way it was broken down from the tuning of the guitar the breakdown of chords and slowing things down to emphasise the structure of the song. All in all a great lesson, one I'll be coming back to when the time is right. Thank you for the inspiration please keep up your great work, it is by far the best YT tutorial I've stumbled across. Thanks again 👍👍

    • @billwebber5208
      @billwebber5208 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No it's not!.
      He makes the same chord shapes several times. Just take your time, don't over do it but practise as much as you can. Your fingers will get stronger each day. Notice this the next day after rest, yesterdays work is now easier.
      Muscles in your fingers will gather their own memory leaving you to concentrate more on other things.
      Keep practising and going over the video. It might take you longer but you will get there and sooner than you think.
      Sometimes it's nice to have a difficult challenge . It means that you can go over small parts bit by bit until it comes together. This guy is an excellent teacher and player, your in the right place.
      Learn some other staff as well. When you get fed up with going over the same bit's then switch to something else and come back to this and learn another small part. Each time it will get easier and your learning will get faster, you muscle memory will form and you will become a rock star.
      When this happens you contact me now so I can be your manager. Good luck have fun dude.

    Meticulous and informative as always Andy. Yes one can play it how they like..and the riffs in any particular order but as you say it's the overall feel that gives the song its uniqueness. I'll be donating again soon. Keep on rockin'.
