If you're just a bit shy of blasting what's left a big ol' loan to dust, taking out a little loan with far lower interest on it (due to the much lower principal) to strike the big loan down before you have to pay another month's interest on it could indeed save a chunk of change. Even more reasonable if your income stream is thicc enough that you sweep the small loan aside with your a small portion of your next payout. I love how the way he makes money in this game is actually the gist of how rich people make money in real life, taking out massive loans to buy assets, this should really be called "life is a perfectly balanced game with no exploits"
Basically. It's simplifying things, but I had a wealthy family member who started a property management company tell me once, "The difference between someone who's rich and someone who's poor is what currency they use. Poor people deal in money, rich people deal in debt." It's often pretty damaging to the economy, but it's true. Unsurprisingly, he's a huge douchebag.

Too bad this video didn't come out back then. You'd just have taken a loan, bought your own truck, garage and so on... And been a millionaire a few weeks later!
Pro tip : If you are driving with a truck and/or trailer that isn't yours, if you damage them, do NOT finish the mission while they're damaged. Go to a garage/truck seller and GET THEM REPAIRED. Your employer will pay for the repair and you will NOT lose money because of damages to the truck/trailer. The only thing you can't repair is the load itself (so try not to crash too hard, especially with fragile things).
"Hey, boss, bad news, I hit four lightposts and a police car. Truck was pretty banged up." "You absolute idiot, I'm taking that out of your pay!" "Let me finish, sir! BUT, I used your company's credit card to pay for all the damages." "Oh ok that's fine then, here's your full pay!" : ^ )
This exploit also works in real life minus the fast travel. In fact, many trucking companies follow this start up model. Cost to operate (truck note, fuel, insurance, etc...) is about $10,000 a month. Any scrub driver is expected to drive about 10,000 miles a month (which is actually an easy month) so cost to operate is about $1 per mile. A decent company driver (someone who only operates the truck and pays no costs associated with owning the truck) makes about $0.50 a mile. So we're at $1.50 for the truck, associated costs, and a driver. Most loads will pay over $2+ per mile. Longer miles r at lower rates and short miles higher. So if u own the truck, pay someone to drive that truck, and charge $2 a mile u will profit $0.50 per mile. Use one truck to buy another... And another... And another... Cost of a brand new truck is $120k-$150k+ depending on options. Used trucks (assuming 500k miles) r in the $70k range. Full disclosure... If one of ur drivers causes a wreck and kills someone u'll lose everything.
NB: no idea if it actually work this way irl. That's why you buy insurance. So one guy wrecking everything (because he uses crack cocaine or something) won't bankrupt you. But of course, you won't accumulate capital as fast. And that just won't do.
@@BicyclesMayUseFullLane The thing is, insurance doesn't save you money. Insurance costs more than it gives back, that's the business model for an insurance company, what it does is make it so you spread out the costs instead of getting a big hit when something happens but the more vehicles you have and accidents becomes part of the operating costs, insurance becomes an unnecessary coat.
@@nehcrum Well, yeah. Skippy crashing their truck and writing off all of the cargo is, almost by definition, catastrophic events, which I doubt anyone but the largest companies could weather. So if it happens early in your company's life, and you have no ways of mitigating it, you can kiss your company goodbye. And of course, when your company is large enough, you can opt to self-insure to reduce cost.
@@nehcrum a vast majority majority of trucking companies in the US have less than 5 trucks. One fatal accident (even if it is not the truckers fault) can very easily bankrupt the company. Sure the company doesn't have to pay for the accident or compensation, but the loss of a truck and the skyrocketed insurance premium will end that company. Even a non-fatal accident with just a loss of cargo can do it. It's super risky
Cost of a truck in Australia is over $350,000 new, and that is for a bog standard one. Then you have to get freight which is sometimes bad to terrible . The company I worked for went bankrupt at least twice in 12 years . Great job though , loved driving long distances.
The biggest problem with being a truck driver is the amount those things cost to maintain, at least for the big ones here in the us even if you're bringing in $10k/month you could be spending half that or more maintaining the truck some months it's less but with how much repairs cost the big repairs bring the average up a lot, at least from my understanding they make good money but have to spend a huge amount on the truck upkeep itself
@@noodlelynoodle. Ever since I found out how the trucking industry works in the USA, I've been baffled... I mean, when you get a desk job as a programmer, do you also have to pay for your desk, chair, computer, A/C, ...? this is the youtuber way, however as a player u should never do that as u will waste alot of the early fun of building up your company. Some tips to follow for maximizing your fun per hour. 1. Make world of trucks account and use that to do only world of trucks missions (requires personal truck). 2. World of truck jobs have a blue timer instead of a normal ingame timer and the saving (synchronizing) saving makes ur vehicle crashes and flips upside down irreversible which enforces another layer of difficulty as there is "no going back" even if u reload. Tow service cancels mission. 3. Take it slow, get max capacity for the first garage and fill it up with drivers/trucks. Keep buying loans, priority is to lvl up drivers as u do jobs urself. 4. Help time pass faster with the legitimate way, which is by having the option to get tired enabled and when u need to sleep , sleep x3 times instead of once (maximum amount before it sais u are not tired anymore). ---It will take u tens of hours before u can have maxed out garage and 4-5 trucks n drivers (and alot of loans), without having to do game breaking "tricks" and will have a bigger appreciation of the game's progression. At this point u will be around 15 level character , which is also another limiting factor for getting the best trucks. This is the true vanilla "hard mode" without the need for mods to change economy.

25:37 In fairness, this is pretty much refinancing a loan, which is actually sound financial advice, as long as the total repayment on the new loan (principal + accrued interest over time) is less than on the old loan.
This exploit still works but: You need to tak a ferry - the longest distance/time you can find instead of traveling to garages Traveling from garage to garage doesn't fast forward time now and will also cost you money Taking a ferry will cost you some money but the time will pass and your workes will work and bring you profit - it's still doable but a little harder
You can also just sleep for free repeatedly, owning just a single garage and won't have to travel anywhere at all. Using external contracts which expire in RL time, you can even have the entire garage full of AI drivers
There is another way to generate money out of thin air for free. You can just switch trucks with one of your drivers. Go to your driver manager, select a driver who has longest cargo delivery time and switch your truck with his. Accept the message, that his truck will be delivered in X time (for example 14 hours), the time will pass, other drivers will finish their jobs, and you will have all the revenue from that. Repeat the process as much as you like.
So you're telling me you spent nearly a week time traveling in a game just to create a massive, obnoxiously pink, road - legal flashbang to bully other drivers
--- Well to be fair, some have made the distinction of trucks being the "road-trains" pulling the semi-trailers. Whereas "lorry / cargo-car" is anything that weighs more than 3,5-kilogram-tonnes, unless it's a bus or other special vehicle. ( at least that's how Finns tend to distinct between "rekka / combination-vehicle" and "kuorma-auto ). ---

Sweet
"Hey, boss, bad news, I hit four lightposts and a police car. Truck was pretty banged up."
"You absolute idiot, I'm taking that out of your pay!"
"Let me finish, sir! BUT, I used your company's credit card to pay for all the damages."
"Oh ok that's fine then, here's your full pay!" : ^ )

@@Luftmysza. You dont need time travel, just find a job as truck driver lol. 10k per month is achievable with some experience :D

The biggest problem with being a truck driver is the amount those things cost to maintain, at least for the big ones here in the us even if you're bringing in $10k/month you could be spending half that or more maintaining the truck some months it's less but with how much repairs cost the big repairs bring the average up a lot, at least from my understanding they make good money but have to spend a huge amount on the truck upkeep itself

this is the youtuber way, however as a player u should never do that as u will waste alot of the early fun of building up your company.

Whereas "lorry / cargo-car" is anything that weighs more than 3,5-kilogram-tonnes, unless it's a bus or other special vehicle.
( at least that's how Finns tend to distinct between "rekka / combination-vehicle" and "kuorma-auto ).

@@PaveMentman I'm Estonian coincidentally so I used to call everything a truck, but in the UK they call those articulated lorries or 'artics' in colloquial speech. Basically all the trucks in euro truck sim are artics.
He makes quite a few mistakes. Things like Brits saying "Gee", which we don't at all.
@@adammclaughlin845 I....I do
To be fair the game is called euro "truck" simulator
7:18 Wales isn't the worst part of the UK for motorways. In Northern Ireland we also have only 1 motorway but you aren't even allowed on it at all until 1 year after you pass your test (including not allowed while learning with an instructor). You also flip the L plate around to show an R plate (Restricted - which is legally required for a year) and you can only drive 45mph maximum for 1 year after you pass your test. Everyone violently overtakes R plated cars even if we're in a 40mph speed zone. If you ever leave the UK and drive over the border to Ireland nobody knows what goes on there and it's a free for all (they don't even use mph or miles, it's in kilometres so nobody cares).
Other parts of the UK do these hilarious P plates which aren't even required and don't limit you or mean anything at all except tell the world you recently passed.
That's sucks.
Meanwhile in France : *highways are at 130 km/h*
@@clementpruvost8670 That baffles you? You've never been to Germany have you?
@@SteenG3yL i have, but it's has been years.
why not just ignore the rules and speed? no one is going to know!
That’s a weird rule, since frankly, motorways are easier to drive than city streets.
Did anyone else notice that Spiff had more hours of Euro Truck Simulator 2 in the last 2 weeks than ever?
Yeah how does that happen
He's just so addicted it breaks Steam
These are just rookie numbers
the hours at the top are across all games in the last two weeks.
_EURO_ truck simulator?
Wait a minute Spiff... That's illegal xD
*"We've been tricked, we've been backstabbed and we've been quite possibly **_Bamboozled"_*

No! We've been Bamstabbedbackboozledsmackledorfed
We've been discombobulated.
i like angelo's smile, its like he knows what is really going on
"we have garages from Aberdeen to Istanbul all over the continent."- longbottom, probably
Spiff: Uploads a new video
Me: *Intense clicking sounds*
Same
A tempting offer methinks....... ^.^
26:56 "and of course we're gonna pick up more IVECO trucks because they're cheap and Chips and then what we do is throw them into Turkey. Lovely stuff". All of it made me hungry. Need some tea now too
lol
I wasn't sure about subscribing at first, but I took the plunge and did it and you know what? There was a garage slot ready and waiting for me and as soon as I entered who was there waiting for me, but the Glorious Spiff himself and he handed me the keys to a brand new Iveco truck!
That rhymes at the end
As I was watching this I had closed captioning on. When spiff said "everyone needs a mega horn", the closed captioning said "everyone needs a beggar horde" and I spit my tea all over my desk
Man. I just became a PC gamer and started playing this game. This video is fantastic and it's helping me expand. Thanks for the video. I had fun watching and laughing 🤣
"This is how trucks show dominance!"
😂
Euro truck veterans like me jiggle when you said "this is just majestic" on the mercedez because that's how scs called the brand before they had licenses for the trucks
No friends, no life, not even playing the game, just watching someone playing... sums it up 🤣🤣🤣
From what I can tell you cant do this anymore. Fast travelling costs money and doesn't forward time so it actually loses you money now. Unless there's a setting the or dlc changes fast travelling. But the ferry crossing method will still net you a lot of funds.
Ive just tried it and yes it doesn't work. 😭
You can do this with the ports
@@theageofdragons5007 you can switch trucks as well. That definitely works.
That doesn't work using ports and going back and forth litterally does
@@theageofdragons5007 switching trucks does if you have drivers on long distance and your bills are covered. Got me out of a pickle a few times.
M4ng0: spiff come on we need to go to the shops.
Spiff: not now my dear I’m busy teleporting to Istanbul and back
Nigel's driver: oh boy i can't wait to drive all the different trucks!!!
Nigel: here take this cheap ahh iveco
Gosh! I, actually got a call from a man who named himself as "Sir Longbottom" and been told that I would not be able to get my truck, because Russia is not present in ETS 2 yet, so he can't get to my location!! What a sad day! But I'll leave like anyway 😥
You can go to a bit of Russia in the game. you just have to get the Beyond the Baltic Sea DLC. You can also install mods to add more of Russia.
@@liammacdonald1515 wouldn't that make it russian truck simulator?? Ain't the whole point you drive around Europe? Lol
@@jaysherriff3086 no, it adds Kaliningrad and a bit that connects Finland with Lithuania. The "European" part of Russia
