Wow! You did a great job of informing folks about Bipolar 1 , treatments, & medication. Wish I had your info earlier in life. Thanks for helping others.
Thanks for this video. Just got of Olanzapin and we are trying Risperdal now with my psychiatrist. Hope it works better for me. I was also depressed on Olanzapin. Good video and such a realistic look on the antipsychotics.
I'm not at all dissing your info in fact IM glad you state everything but let me tell you my experience so far on it I distaste the stuff! it made me have major mind fog and my drive for anything and all things is gone. IM having trouble even taking care of my self and I got head aches and hard time focusing on anything. its really frustrating. I used the washroom so much. its always super hard to go #2 now. and have to use #1 all the time now. I am gaining weight and losing weight at the same time for me. gaining fat but losing muscle. I hate going outside and talking on the phone now... I have a hard time talking to people too ever since being on this stuff. maybe some people really need it but its life altering.. that's only a little over a year of taking 3mg of it every day.! long story how they put me on it but I think maybe just because I went through hell and handled it wrong. they put me on this stuff. I even am a bit restless but I am so sleepy and drained all the time. the medicine to counter the restlessness they gave me increased my stroke chances so so SO much. so I refuse that since I got a heart murmur. when I eat I feel like IM chocking a lot of the time. I sometimes have to swallow a certain way to eat a lot of my meals.
Could you talk about what happened on how it lead you to be admitted? My son is newly diagnosed with type 1 too. I do appreciate your courage of telling your story. My son is so quiet until now and it’s been over a year now since his been discharged. Hospitalised for over a month.
Wow...I can totally relate. I was diagnosed with bipolar 1 in 2018 after a serious manic episode. I have been on respirodone for 2 years . I got stable after a year and have been on a job for a year going . I am a high school teacher and everything seems like its going good . I skip my drugs nowadays cos its kinda like drowns me and i am not quite up n about whenever i do . i take 2mg a day at night . Please i dont know if its advisable to just stop cos i feel very norm n integrated back into society even getting a masters degree . Really great just coming across you today . God bless you and keep you strong

hey thanks for your vids man. in first one (6 months on risperidine) you mentioned the episode that landed you in ward was you went cold turkey on zyprexa when drunk so i can totally understand your relapse. is this what you refer to when you said you were imagining the youtube video playing when you were in hospital ?? if so, i would say those hallucinations weren't becuase you needed an antipsychotic, but you needed to taper off the zyprexa more slowly, over 10 weeks or so. would you agree? just trying to clarify. for example was the very first episode you had which was 'natural', (first of 2) as bad? i think it is important to distinguish between natural bipolar episodes, and the ones CAUSED by cold turkey withdrawal of antipsychotics. my son tapered off zyprexa over a month and had many hallucinations, all worse than the original ones causing him to be put on it. so we must tread lightly. any info wold help. also anyone reading that may know answers is greatly appreciated.
I'm on olanzapine and feel like shit. I'll try risperidone. All i get are negative stuff. Anxiety and depression with occasionally mania. I hate this. Had enough
Did you ever go through depressed episodes too or was it mainly just the manic episodes? My sister has had a horrible time with her Bipolar I Disorder. The risperidone has helped with her manic episodes but she is still having the horrible depressive episodes. Was just wondering if you thought the risperidone helped with depression too? If that was an issue for you. Also my sister had a crazy side effect on the risperidone. Her eyes would travel upwards and to the left and get stuck. It really freaked her out. She got up to 8 mg and had to come down to 1.5mg but since she is super depressed they are going to attempt to go back up to 2mg and see if that can bring her mood up enough to combat this depression. Thanks for your video and your input.
Good talker , 2 days without no problem still in system hospital says takes full month to get out of system. Why in hospital they keep you to self evaluate . 👍
Hey Anthony, thank you for making this video. I actually have what you have and taking Risperidone. However, I don't think the dosage is working out for me. I've been experiencing an irritable/burning sensation in my head that won't go away, which is making me live uncomfortably and unmotivated. I was wondering if you had the same problem? Appreciate your response!
Adrian Graham feeling more emotion, I cry a lot, memory has improved, sometimes I laugh at things I find funny but I swear I use to laugh more, no physical symptoms, I’m running 3 miles a day... Originally on risperidone and shortly after the medication left my system I felt terrified of everything for 2 months, even being alive scared me, taking a shower scared me, going to the bathroom scared me, the only time I felt decent was when I was surrounded by people, I felt things I never felt before, emotions I never thought I’d experience because I’ve never had bad experiences from antidepressants or felt suicidal (I wasn’t depressed, just extremely uncomfortable living because of the side effects)... I was only on risperidone for one month at 4mg per day (well supposedly 4mg per day because the injection was 120mg but I don’t understand how they can predict how my body metabolizes 120mg, maybe the medication lasted 3 months because the side effects are going away 3 months later but super slowly, I’ve notice huge improvement in my mood but it scares me that I might feel awful again. I was told by a doctor when I was getting a cat scan that the dose I was given was way too high for my weight and that it might take longer for me to metabolize the medication, I’m 6’4 but I’m skinny, not like some big guy

You can apply for disability benefits if it’s really hard to function at work.

Yes, havent had a manic episode since I started taking it.
