Pete Rose is the reason I fell in love with baseball, the REDS and Riverfront Stadium. It was 1973 and I was just 5 years old. The Cardinals had come into town and leading off in the bottom of the 1st, the great Pete Rose hit a home run off P Alan Foster. I sit here cursing this moment and cursing death. As a youngster from northeast Ohio I was first introduced to baseball at the age of ten and the first games I watched were from the 1975 World Series and I asked "Just who is this Pete Rose guy"? I was totally captivated, and he soon became "Mr. Everything" to me. From that day on I wanted to be just like Pete. I took his style with me through Little League and onward as I played baseball through my junior high school years in Hot Stove. Pete Rose was a switch batter I became a switch batter, Pete Rose went first to third on a hit to the outfield, I went first to third the same way. I learned vicariously that you NEVER cheat the game and give it 100% just like he did, and the game will reward you with far more than you ever expect. There are men in the Hall of Fame that cheated baseball in other ways that imo were much worse because they had an edge that others did not have while they competed. Pete was a much better player than his opponents by hard work, talent and dedication. Pete didn’t hurt anyone or affected the game’s outcome because of what he did. Those other players’ actions did affect the outcome of the game. We lost a great baseball player today and baseball lost the chance to do the right thing. I’m sad for both reasons. RIP Pete. Thanks for the memories
RIP Charlie Hustle 🙏
Best player to ever play the game and he’s not in the hall is a shame
It's an absolute disgrace that he's not in the HOF. Betting has everything to do with having a lifetime ban from baseball, but it has ZERO to do with his baseball accomplishments keeping him out of the HOF. As far as I'm concerned, Pete Rose is a Hall of Famer. PERIOD.
I agree. Pete Rose received his lifetime ban for what he did as a manager, not a player. MLB should have banned Rose in the context of being a manager, but his playing career was over by the time he got banned. Pete Rose the baseball player should be inducted.
@@michaeljohnson7945 Exactly!
Pete MLB never forgave you, I forgive you. You were a iconic player. Rest in peace, Charlie Hustle.
What a shame 😢now theyll put him in hof,he shoulve been in it allready .r.i.p. mr charlie hustle.another legend hone but not forgotten.now your with the greatest playing the game up their ,with all the legends
Rest In Peace Mr. Rose. You are truly a Hall of Famer. From a Dodger fan🙏🙏🙏
R.I.P Pete Rose
I named my middle name Rose after Pete..he will forever be remembered
Huh? How did you pick your own middle name?
Can we put him in the HOF now? He played in an era when many millionaires couldn't to bothered to run out a ground ball, but Pete Rose never gave less than everything he had in the moment. He deserves to be given baseball's greatest honor, albeit posthumously.
Major League Baseball has never had any legitimacy since it did what it did to Pete rose. Pete Rose's the guy that made this game what it is. Ohtani
Never seen this man walk on a baseball field he was one of my idols 64 years old and I am a San Francisco Giants fan I could never get enough of watching Charlie Hustle when it came to town⚾️💔😪
