April 14th 1941, 82 years old and has forgotten more about baseball than these kids now will ever know. My first encounter with Pete was when I was 9 yrs old in 1960 and he played for the Geneva Reds. He has been my favorite ever since.
The legality/illegality of his gambling didn't factor into it. ALL major sports prohibit betting on your own sport. He was free to bet the ponies or whatever his addiction wanted. Banned for life AND death, and he's a POS who deserves it.

PETE ROSE IN THE BEST LIGHT.... Fantastic interview..! #letterman #baseball #peterose Pete tries to clear up some misconceptions about him. (From "Late Night," air date: 10/11/91)

I live in Cincinnati from 1975-85 when Pete played on the Big Red Machine team. He was liked by all the fans and never refused to sign an autograph. I have several that he signed for me. Pete was in a federal prison in Marion, IL close to where I grew up. A lot of prisoners from Alcatraz were sent to Marion when it closed. Pete should be in HOF.
Twins beat the Braves 4-3 in the World Series. Definitely October 1991. Pete is arrogant, funny, and should be in the HOF. His offenses were minor compared to what has happened since then with the MLB.
Pete played the game with heart! Exceeded his natural ability through hard work and dedication. He never bet against himself or cheated a game. He did his time. Put him in the hall! Ty Cobb did horrible things and he's in there.

With MLB partnering with Draft Kings and other organized gambling sites, it's time to reinstate Pete! He's Cooperstown material 100%

If he wouldn't have lied, I believe he would've been reinstated and in the Hall.
Just put Pete Rose in. Baseball needs any attention it can get at this point.

You can gamble, players, managers and coaches can't. It's not that difficult to understand
Pete Rose is in MY HALL OF FAME!!!! Great Video Great History! TY!
I'm pretty sure that doesn't make up his problem with Cooperstown.
He goes in when he dies…
one of the greatest players ever and thats a fact whether the league acknowledges that or not
Yeah, for God's sake, Pete's a CHOIR BOY. 😊
I acknowledge that fact
I don’t care about the betting. As a baseball player, he was the best among the best.
As disgraces to the sport go, yeah, he was technically good despite being a degenerate creep.
Pete is the man! Agreed. Let 'Im in!
And a crook
He bet on his own team to win
What's the problem?
He KNEW what he was doing was wrong and still did it......

He broke the rules, he KNEW the risks
I'll bet Dave was excited to have Pete on the show. Any takers?
What makes you say that? LOL 😮
Dave keeping Rose longer and bumping Red Hot Chili Peppers was the right move. Pete was hilarious. Those two together, great rapport!
R.I.P. Pete.
1:07-1:10 is SUCH a OHIO answer 😆 🤣 😂 😹 💯💯💯
Here's hoping you do a John Witherspoon montage. I know he was one of Dave's friends. I re-visited him in "Soul Plane" and couldn't stop laughing.
