@@PikangsFutaba I'm actually going into the Zero series blind; I'm speaking from the perspective of someone who owns the Mega Man Classic and X Legacy Collections on Switch, but never played most of the games outside of the Classic series. That said, I hope the accessibility options make it easier for me to play through the games, but _without_ barring me from unlocking achievements, like in MMXLC. That made me want to play the games without using the accessibility options, but I'm a scrub and couldn't finish X2 before moving on to games that didn't leave a controller-shaped indent on my wall!
the Zero series was my personal favourite, I even bought two of the UDON Complete Works so I could keep one in the shrink wrap in pristine as the first copy I got was worn from being well-read. These games are superb & I'm so glad people will get to play them, & play them in such as well-executed way. & its only £25?! an absolute steal.
The DS Zero collection was on a handheld, so it's still considered "locked out" for console users' purposes. Not going to say it was a great collection, either (though the games were still solid). So glad to have this Legacy collection now; it's really solid, from playing it so far.
Myself, I have virtually no 2D Mega Man experience whatsoever, aside from the Mega Man 11 demo, but I'm rather interested in this collection. 6 much-praised games that to me as a relative layman look like they hold up a lot better in this day and age than the traditional core series would (for the most part, anyway), and for a pretty modest price tag to boot. I watched a ZX playthrough once on TH-cam, and it really caught my interest, so that's become the main driving force for my interest, although I've been recommended by friends to play these games in chronological order, so I intend to do that.
In my opinion, playing the series in chronological order is incredibly satisfying for various references and structures of the series story, you can very well just play all 11 classic games with no problem and then go to the X series and play up until X5 or X6 (Your choice as there are different views on when the X series really does end for everyone), other side games like the Mega Man World games are good but for a first timer it may be too much, Mega Man & Bass is part of the main games but because of it's difficulty it may not be of your interest. Other things like the Xtreme titles, The Power Battle games and so on are not needed but they are technically part of the story. (Also something people question)
The silver lining in all this is we have the OG, X, Zero and ZX collection. Which means we have legends, battle network and star force to port over. I will probably die from joy if they confirm battle network is coming
Maha Ganeshariff (Thicc Elephant dude) has actually always had that visual glitch; hard to notice on gba, but running a backup of Z1 on an emulator makes it easier to see that weird bit of distortion when that one move forces the screen to shudder. I figure the background art's just a bit too short and exposes the layer behind, since it's not a very tall boss room. Super cool of you to go that deep, though; this was an excellent review in general. Really impressed at how you touched on the overarching feel/tone the games set on top of the gameplay itself, since that continuity and sense of closure always made this series special to me.
It's great that we are getting these various Megaman collections. I only hope that Capcom doesn't stop here and brings us a Legends collection next, followed shortly by a Battle Network collection. I actually never played the Battle Network games myself so having a collection handy would be a perfect excuse to do so.
I LOVE Megaman ZX. The fact that this collection came out 2 days after my birthday makes it feel like a birthday present. Now if only we could get a Battle Network/Starforce collection and a legends collection so I could play all the games I missed.
Really enjoyed your review...I just wanted to add that I was especially impressed by the grainy GBA screen filter. It's by far the best I've ever seen a GBA game look on a modern TV and hope it is used with other GBA ports .
As someone that already played the ZX games and some of the Z. I must say this was a really accurate review. More then ones I found myself thinking "Yep, I had the same thought" like when you talking about the ZL/ZR buttons not being mappable and when talking about the localization. This review filled lots of the doubts I had about the games (I was going to buy it anyway) Definitely the review im going to point out for my friend if the ask.
I love ZX and ZX Advent because of the Kamen Rider approach to newly acquired powers. You change forms to use these powers and can even change between them on the fly without having to go to the menu first.
Zero's STILL my favorite Megaman character and I remember playing Zero 4 first and I cleared it multiple times. It was such a sick game and I'm so happy they remade all of these. Way to go Capcom!!
Guys, if you want BN collection or ZX3, then we GOTTA buy this. We gotta vote with our wallets. Plus, it's pretty damn affordable. 6 great games for $5 each? I'll buy that, easy.
I honestly like zero 1 because despite its big flaws, its a great pick up and play, since it isn't too long and the more confidence you have, the less necessary the grinding is. its even better that Im getting this on switch.
In the case of PS4/XB1... Capcom on the other Legacy Collection Achievements: Eh, just include 1 per game and throw in challenges with ranks. Capcom with Zero/ZX Legacy Collection Achievements: WE HAVE TO MAKE THESE MATTER MORE AND HAVE THEM AS DETAILED AS POSSIBLE!! Edit: Turns out the X LCs have more detailed Achievement lists. My bad ^^;
Yeah, they kinda got lazy in this one, X Legacy Collections had some interesting or cool ones (for me one of the interesting ones is Covert Ops in X2 as I normally rush Magna Centipede's stage and trigger the alarms almost all the time, in that challenge the only alarm you can trigger is the one after the 2nd mid-boss that is mandatory anyway, beating Dragoon in X4 with the Ride Armor or fighting Vile 5 times in X8 before you complete the boss rush stage) as well as other annoying ones (like listening to all of Alia's/Axl's transmissions or rescue all reploids in X7).
@@kevinramirez3134 Look, I was just making a funny about how MMLC 1 & 2 were completely barren in terms of online achievements whereas Zero/ZX went apeshit with the detailed ones while not realizing XLC1 & 2 did that first.
Feels like to me they really missed some opportunities. They could have finally fixed the horrible map in ZX, added in the uncensored versions while still being in English, stuff that big fans would have loved to see, and likely never will.
I'm curious if MMZ 1-4 are based off the original GBA releases or the DS collection. The main difference being the DS collection made further changes (beyond just removing the oil blood) and changed words like die, death and kill to the kid friendly, destroy, terminate ect.
But dose it have HD rumble? Sorry I just love HD rumble and I feel it's under used. It's a game changer for me. I look for games that has HD rumble ,(that's implemented well/good) now these days.
Megaman Zero 2 was my personal favorite. I love all the EX Forms and EX skills that you can unlock in that game. Megaman Zero 3 is probably my next favorite of the quadrilogy.
I recommend it. IMO, the Zero series is the peak of Mega Man, I prefer it to both the classic series and X series. They also have a fantastic story, probably the best of the entire franchise.
Can't wait to play it later tonight (on my Ps4), but if I can't today, then tomorrow I can do it on any of the 4 platforms (yeah, I bought it 4 times because I love the game, plus, I can let my bro. who has my Xbox One at the moment play the games as well... That made me want to play the games without using the accessibility options, but I'm a scrub and couldn't finish X2 before moving on to games that didn't leave a controller-shaped indent on my wall!
Regarding the graphics "bug" in the elephant boss fight. I remember that happening in the Zero collection for the DS as well.
I will legitimately cry if we get battle network on switch
Question though, would we get the GBA or DS version of Battle Network 5?
@@DoctorDisasterDracula i really hope the ds version!!!
@CM HW aww BN 4, such a mess of a game!! I would hope for a special version of it but mostly likely never happening XD
@@DoctorDisasterDracula Has to be the DS version imo. It has both in one
the Zero series was my personal favourite, I even bought two of the UDON Complete Works so I could keep one in the shrink wrap in pristine as the first copy I got was worn from being well-read. These games are superb & I'm so glad people will get to play them, & play them in such as well-executed way. & its only £25?! an absolute steal.
That's not entirely true. The zero games already had a collection on the DS
That collection was amazing
The DS Zero collection was on a handheld, so it's still considered "locked out" for console users' purposes. Not going to say it was a great collection, either (though the games were still solid).
So glad to have this Legacy collection now; it's really solid, from playing it so far.
Using Departure to open the video. Predictable yet completely satisfying.
WHET FOR BOOTY!! I forgot about that line lmao
Yeah I'd play these games in chronological order. There's sort of an arc that Zero goes through in the X and Zero games.
"So now that your appetite's whet for booty" Please tell me im not the only one who heard that
Now we need the battle network collection that includes the *Battle Network Gamecube Game*
So my question is, for ZX can you fight the bonus bosses that required Zero 3 or 4 in the gba slot of the ds to access in the collection?
Yes, you can
The silver lining in all this is we have the OG, X, Zero and ZX collection. Which means we have legends, battle network and star force to port over. I will probably die from joy if they confirm battle network is coming
"So now that your appetite has been whet for booty, let's get this show on the road!"
Me: *swiggity swooty*
Now we just need a mega man gb collection and there we go
Mister Fields because Mega Man V
@@MegaNerdX bingo
Oh my god i'm basically forced to by this. This is my childhood right here :')
I didn't even know there were games after MMZ 3, so this is definitely going on my switch.
4:56 I totally forgot about that lmao oh English ZXA VAs bless their hearts
I REALLY hope we get a collection with the Gameboy and Gameboy Color games as well as Mega Man & Bass and The Wily Wars.
The Japanese version option just sold me on the game. Thanks for the very thorough review.
You talk smack about the voiceacting but Pandora makes the game so warm and ASMR-like. Love that.
She sounds like she’s about to fall asleep herself
Yeah. BUT STARFORCE AND BATTLENETWORK COLLECTION WHEN?
I love all the games here and have them for DS, I just prefer BN and SF way more
It's great that we are getting these various Megaman collections.
Now we just wait for the Legends Legacy Collection to complete the main Megaman Timeline
Lol with 2 games
@@kai_824 3 games, there's also the Misadventures of Tron Bonne
@@spacethegamer6426 sounds silly because only 3 games and they cancelled legends 3,prefer bn and starforce collection first
If BOOTY memes don't come about after this, I'm rioting.
There were riots...but no BOOTY
6 of my favorite games in the franchise. Highly recommend
Between this and the re-release of DMC3 on the switch it looks as if Capcom is finally putting effort into their ports.
Really enjoyed your review...I just wanted to add that I was especially impressed by the grainy GBA screen filter. It's by far the best I've ever seen a GBA game look on a modern TV and hope it is used with other GBA ports .
And now I wait for Mega Man Battle Network and Star Force Legacy Collection, featuring a New Funky Mode!
As someone that already played the ZX games and some of the Z. I must say this was a really accurate review. More then ones I found myself thinking "Yep, I had the same thought" like when you talking about the ZL/ZR buttons not being mappable and when talking about the localization.
This review filled lots of the doubts I had about the games (I was going to buy it anyway)
Definitely the review im going to point out for my friend if the ask.
I can't wait to pick this up tomorrow. Hoping for a Battle Network Collection someday.
ZXA plot is one of the bests
Said no one.
Ok I can understand the Save Assist in the Zero Series but why use it for ZX?
Mega Man Xtreme 1 & 2 collection would be epic. I played the heck out of these as a kid.
are the HD versions of the ZX and ZXA soundtracks available in gameplay?
Woah the menus in this collection are amazing
I love ZX and ZX Advent because of the Kamen Rider approach to newly acquired powers. You change forms to use these powers and can even change between them on the fly without having to go to the menu first.
I'm so happy that this collection exists, I have never been able to play the Zero series, and I love being able to replay ZX and ZX Advent
What is the tune at the very start of the video? Around the 5 second mark
Zx was my childhood. Getting 5 other games with it is just the cherry on top
ZX Advent is the best one I think, I love that you actually transform into the boss reploids instead of getting a piddly power.
I honestly like zero 1 because despite its big flaws, its a great pick up and play, since it isn't too long and the more confidence you have, the less necessary the grinding is. its even better that Im getting this on switch.
I actually loved the open world of zx and advent. I love both series!
In the case of PS4/XB1...
Capcom on the other Legacy Collection Achievements: Eh, just include 1 per game and throw in challenges with ranks.
Capcom with Zero/ZX Legacy Collection Achievements: WE HAVE TO MAKE THESE MATTER MORE AND HAVE THEM AS DETAILED AS POSSIBLE!!
Edit: Turns out the X LCs have more detailed Achievement lists. My bad ^^;
Who cares about achievements and trophies. Just play the games for what they are. Great games!
@@PikangsFutaba Eh, I'm content with it, tbh. I just can't wait to play this and revisit some of the games that helped mold me as a gamer.
Name of music paying at 0:08?
As someone who has played the Mega Man Zero collection a lot on the DS, I am really happy with this game.
@@JohnDoe-wq5eu I think it's the DS version for better and worse.
I have a question, do we still have the ability to do the Zero boss fights in the Zx game as an alternative to get the Omega biometal ?
Now all I need is a battle network and legends collection pack
But dose it have HD rumble? Sorry I just love HD rumble and I feel it's under used.
It's a game changer for me. I look for games that has HD rumble ,(that's implemented well/good) now these days.
If we buy these games, not only could it convince Capcom to give fans a Battle Network Collection But maybe we can finally get ZX3?
Megaman Zero 2 was my personal favorite. I love all the EX Forms and EX skills that you can unlock in that game. Megaman Zero 3 is probably my next favorite of the quadrilogy.
I need to play more Mega man games.
This may convince me
I'd say this is worth it. Zero 1 and 2, and ZXA are the only games that don't hold up too well. They're good, but not amazing.
I recommend it. IMO, the Zero series is the peak of Mega Man, I prefer it to both the classic series and X series. They also have a fantastic story, probably the best of the entire franchise.
Are you able to change language (voices) on the ZX series?
Can't wait to play it later tonight (on my Ps4), but if I can't today, then tomorrow I can do it on any of the 4 platforms (yeah, I bought it 4 times because I love the game, plus, I can let my bro. who has my Xbox One at the moment play the games as well... Especially Zero 3 to ZX Advent as he only played up to Zero 2).
I love that almost every single mega man game is playable on steam and modern platforms. It’s honestly unreal I never expected this
