7:30 Capcom confirmed that the collection is not done through emulation, but it's an actual port.
Yeah, they actually used the source code of the games, they learned from their previous mistakes with MMLC and MMXLC
I personally don't really think the games were actual ports. I think it's a modied game run on a emulator, since the main menus (for example 8:55) didn't had the same visual interface as the original game (with that Arial font and png picture to resemble a button, which is far different compared to the "Normal Mode" button, which is from the original game). This also could explain why Inti Creates, the original developers of all 6 games had their logos removed at the start of each game and were not involved in the collection as far as I understand.
It's a minor nitpick though. The collection is still a blast to play
@@darrylaz3570 If you look at the files on PC, you can see the game is not emulated. It's a full on port using the source code.
@@darrylaz3570 it is a port from the source code, but I don't think anything is emulated, except maybe the touch screen on the ZX games as they were on ds. I say this because emulation usually produces input lag, and I have yet to produce any major lag and I've tested it extensively.
@@Jonnicom Thank god this game was delayed. Probably they were using emulation again and the heavy input lag came back. I wonder how Megaman X1 would run without emulation.

@@save_zawarudo It seems Microsoft already confirmed Xbox1 games will be compatible with Series X. Whether Sony will do the same with PS5 or not, and whether Capcom will bar their games so they can milk them more...only time will tell.
I never even picked up on the Battle Network, Starforce, Legends, Power Fighters, the cart racer and not even all the gameboy games, only 1-3 would be cool to have a network collection and some sort of Bonus collection

Wow. I was gonna pass on this one till a sale; but the fact they addressed the input latency, include all screen aspect ratio, filters and other features, make me want this. Devs should be rewarded when they do retro compilations right. This needs to be the standard for all compilations across the board.
Am I the only one that finds it insane that there were SIXTEEN mega man games for the GBA. (10 battle networks, 4 zeros, Mega man and bass and mega man battle chip challenge). Man I love the gba.

@@stevesteve0521 Oh yeah Capcom planned to have MegaMan Mania on GBA, a collection of like the first 6 games or so, if it went through then it'd be technically 22 MegaMan games on the console unless they planned include 7 and maybe 8 (Rayman 1 and Pinobee were ported to GBA)

I believe it was going to be the 5 gameboy mega man games on it and there were rumors that they were going to add the mega man xtreme games as bonus although I don’t think that would’ve happened given that I don’t think the gba cart would’ve fit all that.

These don't seem to be simply emulation, but also outright code ports. In terms of the PC version of the collection, all of the music is held externally and can be replaced with renamed ogg or wav files, implying they had the source code for each of the games and then play the music externally. Probably part of why all the cutscene art is filtered too.

Got the game this week, really excited about it! Mega Man Zero was something that pretty much everyone I know grew up with, but I didn't. So I was really looking forward to "catching up" on my childhood, so to speak.
The games are surprisingly short though, which I guess is nice when you have to play through 6 of them at once.
Rank is important, so you might need to run each stage a few times to get those S ranks. The precursor to Inticreates' Gunvolt, where ranking is where the replay factor lies.
As far as I know, the Zero 3 cyber-areas enemy replacement cannot be done in the DS and Legacy Collections because the game needed the connection to Mega Man Battle Network 4 in order to do that.
Never knew that was even a thing. Maybe they can patch that in and enable that toggle if it detects a potential BN collection save data.
you can access that on the main menu before playing zero 3 in the legacy collection, where you can toggle the cyber area on or off.
People, PLEASE buy this collection so we can get ZX3. We've waited a long time and they didn't do us dirty with this. It's a good deal.

I played the Zero games back on emulator back in the day and always said if they released them on PC I’d buy them and kept my word.

Just a quick note; The ZX games, no matter which screen option you use, have improper scaling, which can make the visuals just slightly off-putting to people who care deeply about pixel perfection (such as myself)
The Zero games have this as well when using the fullscreen mode, but thankfully the Type 2 screensize eliviates it.
Its also worth pointing out that the Wii U version is the ONLY version with actual save state functionality, and also the only version that lets you use all four shoulder buttons. (Especially useful for Zero 4's Zero Knuckle toss)
I wonder if the save state thing is because this is a true port and not an emulation. The four shoulder button thing was stated in the video, but wasn't a big focus.

So is Type 2 and 3 proper integer scale? It seems like they should be?

This is the optimal Mega Man experience for me. The Zero and ZX games are my favorites of the entire series. Also there's practically no input lag and actual high quality videos which makes it miles better than the X LC.
i like the original soundtrack of the zero games best but the music is so good i don't mind it on the new collection, when it comes to save assist there is one problem with it in the zx advent game, i had save assist on and the checkpoint was right before the boss on the train(buckfire) and i beat it, after the fight i decided to check if i missed anything on the train and i died and thought "no matter i will respawn at the back end of the train and..." and there i was right BEFORE the bossfight, you can use save assist one the zero games but i wouldn't recommend it on the zx games.
Its the same in every game. You just did not save after beating the boss.

If you buy the Zero / ZX Legacy Collection for PC (you can do it on the Switch version too, but it's more difficult), you can swap the soundtrack of the games for the soundtrack of Remasters, and it's great to play and listen to the soundtrack of Remasters and listened to in the music player.
I repeat, this is not a big change and some soundtracks sound better in the Ds version than in the Remaster version, but it is a lot of fun playing with the best soundtrack.
For a small channel, this is a very good review.

Haha, glad you mentioned the bizarre PAL logo changes. I recently discovered were tied to MegaMan's 15th anniversary, as they use the same font as the anniversary logo for Zero 2-4, X7, X8, Command Mission, Battle Chip Challenge, Battle Network 3-5, and Network Transmission - and the PAL version of the DS release STILL HAD those alternate logos.
So, being an Australian, I secured a copy of the US release so the logo disconnect was rectified, which was thankfully fixed in ALL regions for the Zero/ZX legacy collection.*chef's kiss*

Playing the Megaman Zero Collection on DS actually wore out the shoulder buttons (the switches inside, not the external physical buttons) on my original DS, and my 3DS, since they get heavily used for sub weapon and dashing. I don't think the DS line shoulder buttons were built for that kind of stress. I always thought playing on the 2DS would be better since it had beefier shoulder buttons, but I think this is another point in the Legacy Collection's favor, as it's on platforms where you can use whatever controllers you want, which (1) can better stand the mad grips that MMZ calls for, and (2) can be repaired or replaced way easier than a handheld. Replacing the shoulder buttons on my 3DS was not easy.

Apparently not many physical copies of this collection are in circulation. If you got yours physical then hold onto it.
Super Rare. there is only a couple of Sellers out there. and I literally mean a couple. They are exactly 2 selling them for over $100 on Switch and PS4 on Ebay,
And on Amazon, there is no Xbox one version left. Just one PS4 and One Switch and they $129.99. Capcom said they were and EB/Gamestop pre-order only. And would not be releasing in bulks or restocking. Just pre-orders only. So if you don't have the Physical you're shit out of luck. I pre-ordered mine and I'm glad I did.
It's not the case in Japan, so if you really want a physical copy you could always import it! Comes with English on the cart like most games nowadays
I found out there's a Limited Edition of hte legacy collection with a bust of zero, though it doesn't look that great to me so meh.

I do tend to favor physical copies of games because back in the old days, memory sticks or cards/etc for say, PS2 or psp/ps vita was ...inefficient and pricey so to speak.
Now I'm glad I got physical copy of this collection...this is too good to pass up on. I prefer zero series over X series to be quite honest. I'm spoiled by Maverick X Hunter on psp haha. It's a lot easier cuz I can NEVER tell where the start/end of a platform is in X games.....

I'm grateful that zero legacy collection has JP lang VOICE option while you keep eng text ( i think). Who the hell wouldn't want to hear Rie Tanaka's voice as Ciel.

@@Scerttle Lets hope they fix it fairly soon. It'd be a shame to see a Tripple A developer to struggle making gba and ds games work on pc's. i imagine DS games may be a challange but there is just no excuse for the GBA titles
I have them on DS and they look perfect there but if you don't have access or want a bigger screen they are better emulated, I'll go as far as to buy the collection to emulate them with peace of mind. The scaling is awful, look a the life bars.
Hey, you said Legacy version emulates DS version, but in fact, these games aren't emulated but uses source code, hence the in-game modifications like the Save-Assist, kinda dissapointed you didn't even mention the reploid remixes, it was a pre order bonus, but same as MM 11 it will be released later, honestly I was expecting a lag comparison between consoles but it's ok, MM content is always appreciated
As someone who once played a variant of the zero games on an (illegal) emulator (sorry, i had no consoles), and later picked up the zzxlc, the save states are so nice. I prefer to be a bit casual at times, just messing around. So the removal of the severe punishments, especially in stages with the worst bosses (Copy X phase 2 im looking at you) is such a nice addition without taking away from the challenge of individual parts of the game

In z2 when ciel falls down in the main teleporter area the graphical glitch (pixelation) effect is entirely missing for some reason and it makes the scene really weird looking. I also noticed the warning siren when teleporting in 2 and 3 is different and much more ear grating.
I've been thinking about buying this for a while this video really helped me decide t buy this on the Switch! thank you!

@@Hulavuta Tecnically it would be 18 games with the amount of versions of each game, with Battle Network 5 and Star Force 1 being crazy with 3 for each game.
This collection is actually straight ports, and not emulation. The PC community is already taking advantage of this with some great mods. It is worth pointing out however that the PC version varies in performance from PC to PC, regardless of whether you meet the required specs or not. Issues include visual stuttering, framerate issues, crashing when changing screen resolution or playing in fullscreen, and crashing while trying to create a save data on the collection's main title screen.
No common ground has been found between players having issues with crashing while trying to create save data. A theory however that has been circling around is that some processors (including many that should be powerful enough) lack support for an instruction set that the game is calling on to create/load save data, and so the game crashes instead. So far, Capcom has failed to push out a bigfix update making the collection playable to those who have been experiencing these issues.

I so wished the filters were a lot better for the GBA games. The colours were upped for the original GBA's dim screen, and grid scan lines would also be a neat touch
The issue of not being able to map the Switch trigger buttons was also in the X Legacy Collection for the first three games and it really sucked since I prefer to use ZR for dash and L/R for swapping weapons.
Luckily it's not an issue anymore since now you can completely remap the Switch's buttons.
I'm getting the Nintendo switch version since my switch library is pretty limited I got one last year on black Friday when it was cheap.

Split pad pro also has a solid dpad. The 8bitdo controllers are also decent. Or use a Brooke converter and the controller of your choice.

@Black Pilled Son I mean, I want one too, but it doesn't exist. So I use a 3rd party controller because I don't want Nintendo's lack of foresight to keep me from enjoying games that require a good dpad. Ultimately it's the choice of remaining upset for not getting what you want (and something that is indeed reasonable to expect) vs. taking matters into your own hands and having an overall more enjoyable gaming experience.
So the title of the video is about which version of the game you should get and you have only played the switch version and have not played the PS4 or the Xbox One?
If you turn on checkpoint system in the collection and know where to grind in the first game, it's actually becomes pretty easy.
Literally every game with an ability to level up becomes easy if you grind enough...

Good collection, the cheapness inside me kind of wished it was 20 bucks not 30 bucks mostly because I still owe 5 out of the 6 games (Zero 4 is the only one I never played or owned because I never New it existed back then). Oh well looking forward to finally playing zero 4 since I believe zero 3 was the best in the series.
Zero/ZX Collection is top tier quality, anyone, new players wanting to play the Zero/ZX arcs, or veterans that want to replay them should just go for the collection. I'm still pissed because no new games continuing from the loose ends (Legends 3, X9 and specially ZX3) but credit where credit is due.
This collection is absolutely worth it.

I liked that the Zero Collection games had the option to remap the buttons, that’s because I’m used to the ZXA controls and the original GBA configuration felt clunky to me with the Switch ergonomics and button distribution.
From my completely non scientific testing of just playing the games, the input lag of the zero and zx games is almost nil, X8 and X4 have a little bit but pretty good and X1 - X3 have a slightly annoying amount. X5-X7 I have no idea

Zero 4 was the first Megaman game I ever played. Sucked ass at it, but I finally beat it a bit over a year ago now after years of experience. Tried to play the first one but that intro boss gave me hell, even with savestates. Maybe now is the time I give it another shot and see what the other games have to offer.

Even though I have it for both PC and Switch. I think the switch version is better IMO. Mostly cause of the small screen while in handheld mode with the smoothing filter helps a lot.

I wish more collections would include CRT filters for handheld games. I don't use filters like that because it's "authentic," I just think it looks better. If I didn't like the way it looked on console games, I wouldn't use it no matter how "authentic" it is, and hand held games benefit for the same reasons that old console games do. Of course the quality of individual filters will vary but I'd like the option to use a good one on any pixelly game.
I'm annoyed that the new Castlevania Advance Collection only lets me use the CRT filter on Dracula X when the previous Anniversary Collection let me use it on both of the original Game Boy games. It's in sort of a halfway Super Game Boy mode, but it's not like I couldn't have played the GBA entries on a CRT via the Game Boy Player on Game Cube so I don't see how that's any different. It's still a great collection overall, that's just a slight annoyance for me.

Boy Howdy do you have a choice to make. So turns out the game on pc is appearently the same as the x collections. only playable if powerd by a nuclear plant if you know what i'm saying. turns out they habe the same problem so they lag a lot

What would you recommend for someone who already has the Zero Collection on DS and the original cartridge for ZX Advent? Better to get ZX in its original form or get the Legacy Collection?
I just went ahead and got the Legacy Collection, even if I was in the same situation you were in. It’s only 30 bucks so you get ZX for I think actually cheaper than it’s listed for + more
A very good in-depth look, I must say. But I already own both ZX games and the Zero Collection (all three completed), so I'm going to skip the Legacy Collection.
Is there going to be a direct translation for the Japanese like previous collections? So we can have a full uncensored megaman zero?
Too bad the Legacy Collection doesn't allow the touchscreen to be put on a second monitor.
That said the DS music explains why it sounds so much better than the GBA versions.
As a collector, I think I'll go head and get this collection, simply because I'm never going to buy a DS. Also, I still have SEVERAL Mega Man: Battle Network games to find on the GBA, so my handheld will still get some Mega Man representation.
So between the JP version and the US version of the Zero & ZX Collection there is no remarkable difference? Because the Rockman X Anniversary Collection had the original intros, while the American version didn't.
WiiU has button remapping? That fantastic! I wish every game allow that. I usually skip every other Nintendo console, so I never own a WiiU.

The only thing I could have hoped for with the Legacy Collection would have been if they had made the MMZ3 and MMZ4 minigames available from the menu from the start. It's always been my personal opinion that the requirements to unlock them were *entirely* unreasonable for the original MMZ3. Beating the game multiple times at S-rank, get outta here with that...

I had Zero 2 for the GBA. Gave it to my friend after I got the Zero Collection. I also own ZX. I picked up the Legacy Collection for my Switch this month. I'd say the DS games are the best of the bunch, however the Legacy Collection is still great.

I personally found the save points helpful in zero 1 and so far a requirement in zero 2 and 3, the zx games were bad with there backwards saves so prolly a good thing to use there too, don't remember zero 4 all that much other then it was really easy to play compaired to the prior 3 titles and didn't they state that the games themselves were used using the original source codes so unlike the past collections its not just emulations but true ports?
I want to ask a question on my computer the Mega Man Zero & ZX Games runs on slow fps And not only me, some of my friends have the same problem , the Mega Man Zero & ZX Games on ps4 and nintendo switch I have no problem with it

@5:30 oof. I just realized that if we get a MMBN Legacy Collection, it’ll be severely nerfed. One of my favorite things about 5DS was the Boktai slot-2 link. I know SolCross is a very minor thing, but I’d be sad to see it go. :/
Maybe they do the same as ZX with Zero 3 and 4 or the E-Reader Cards, who knows. Same with Starforce. We don’t even know they’ll use the DS version of BN5 for a possible Battle Network Legacy Collection.

You can't buy this game in stores and only 2 sellers online, If you have a Physical consider yourself lucky cause they are no more being made. This was a one off for Collectors. Capcom is not restocking them. They were never in stock. Only Gamestop and Eb games pre-orders. Also on 2 sellers on amazon both want $129.99 for either the PS4 version or the Switch version. and only one of each available. Ditto on Ebay. Glad I pre-ordered and got the physical.
