I really liked how fable 2 allowed you to build a family and at one point you had to rescue your child from the hobbes, I always wanted to teach my kid how to fight. Like give em a practice sword and as time goes they grow up and start going on quests themselves and you could join them and have a good parent/child adventure where you end up Fighting some bandit king

I feel like everyone hates fable 3 because lionhead did such a good job with fable 1. I personally think fable 3 was an amazing game. The open world aspect they tried to incorporate and the magic bending. Not to mention all the other mechanics they tried to include when going up against so many other AAA games. There is no doubt in my mind fable 4 will be amazing, the teams writers and developers they have working on it will give the franchise some justice.

    • @cendresaphoenix1974

Could also have to do with the fact fable 2 is way better than both games. Sure fable 2 doesn't have that great of a villain like jack however the modification you can apply to your life is just unmatchable especially with the DLC. On the other hand in 1 you are left annoyed if you even just wanted to save your family.

The childhood phase was one of the things Fable 3 was sorely missing. Which is a pity, because there was definitely fun to be had with that. I mean, playing the childhood of a young royal? The opportunity for mischief as well as responsibility! Childhood interactions with Jasper ("Ah, there you are. I could actually use your assistance.") and Walter ("And try to be on time for your sword lessons!"). Interactions with your brother (who probably encourages you to be a good royal, don't get up to mischief ("Our parents are having an important meeting today, so keep your nose clean!")). Meeting Elise/Elliot for the first time ("Oh, hello there. Is one of your parents also here to see their royal majesties?"). The childhood phase would have also been a great time to create more attachment to your brother, making later events more impactful.
I could see a variety of interesting childhood quests. There should be one involving the kitchens, one involving a maid, one involving a guard (possibly in relation to the maid), one from Jasper (this one should probably get you close to the important meeting), some training quest(s) involving Walter, a quest from your brother (possibly involving the library), at least one childhood play quest with Elise/Elliot, and maybe even something akin to that with your brother, too (I really want to seal an overall positive (if sometimes strict) familial bond with your brother).
As this is a Fable game there should obviously be opportunities for both good and evil actions. And I think an optional evil quest from a noble in the gardens would be a nice touch. Perhaps asking you to steal something? Though the noble would probably try to paint it in a positive light.
A quest I would definitely do would be one that takes advantage of your unique status. So~ probably a quest where you have to attempt to be diplomatic. I could definitely see this one going south with the 'evil' options (crunchy chicks?). How you might scandalize the nobles! 🤣
Ah, the missed opportunities! It truly breaks my heart! Not to mention the childhood phase was always one of my favorites. 😞

    @cobaltprime9467 3 ปีที่แล้ว +70

This kinda sounds weird and won’t happen, but I’d build upon the childhood.
I’d like to play as a teenager like you did in the tutorial. You have 3 friends in training at the Guild (or something) that can become your rival, you go on a handful of quests together, and based upon your choices 1 will be your rival. Like you make a bad choice and the other 2 friends die so one hates you. You constantly beat another in combat and they want to prove they can become the greatest fighter in Albion. And the last has a complex where they want to be like their Hero parent or something and feel threatened when you get perfect scores in all tests. An alternative would be tarot cards from Theresa or a Theresa like character that tells us our fortune. We literally select who we see as our rivals. Additionally we can see what kind of Hero we want to be. This could give you boosts to one of the disciplines. And we see where our actions so far will leave the world. We see a cutscene where our previous quests led to changes, and how we interact with our rival and friends. We then change to us as adults on our first solo quest, either as a graduation thing like in F1 or post graduation.
Having a longer time as a child gives us opportunity to learn more about the world. Imagine if when we played as a kid in F1 we saw more heroes, like Briar and Thunder coming back from quests, and actually heard about Jack before he’s revealed. It could have given us more time with Whisper, to build up her character making her closer to us in some capacity. Making the choice to kill her much more climatic.
I get why a lot of people wouldn’t like spending a lot of time on that part, but it could work. I do like the tarot card thing though, it could be used as a means of character creation, skill allocation, and even alignment to some degree.

  • @Verlurion

The Fable universe is already so established that I feel it would be a waste not to make use of it. The Old KIngdom or the era between its collapse and Fable 1 or even the era between Fable 1 and Fable 2 are three periods that have not been explored, have only a little fully fleshed out lore, and are each long enough that an entire series of new games could be placed in there without it needing to have any effects or worry about the repercussions to the already existing games. And if they want to play off already existing lore to tell a story there are already key events during those periods, William Black vs The Court, the Fall of the Old Kingdom, the Founding of the Heroes Guild, the Fall of the Heroes guild etc.
I just hope they dont try and completely reboot and forget everything that has come before, it would be such a waste.

For me the thing that make fable sdand out from hundreds of RPG, is the player intersction with the world and NPC, they notice if you are well dressed, they like you, if you're a good man. And the possibilities, like, get your hair and bestd cut, like rocking some tatoos, like buying and owning houses, and also buying everything in the towns and get incoming money, and working to be rich. And also build a family, with wife, dog, and kids, pretty amazing if you ask me.

Concerning Death in the game: I kinda want to see them expand on the original Fable 2 childhood idea. During development of Fable 2, if the main character died, their children would grow up to be the next hero. I love that idea if we could see the world change around us as time passes. But they scrapped that idea because it led to people "harvesting children" for extra lives. Maybe if they had a mix, using resurrection phials and children.

    Things I'd like to see:
    1. A perk tree level system where perks get more expensive the more you buy so you dont get overpowered
    2. Different weapons/builds result in different playstyles (e.g. Stealth, tanking, sniping etc.)
    3. Unarmed build possible
    4. Armour & more weapon variations
    5. Armour, weapon and magic crafting
    6. Basically just steal the nemesis system from shadow of war and use it to make dynamic hero/villain companions and enemies that show up now and again and adapt to counter your playstyle.
    7. Get rid of the loading screens every 5 feet and fill out the world between important locations
    8. Open/adaptive approaches to quests like MGSV
Also I like guns. They were my favourite part of Fable 2, idk

The Fable series always made it feel like your choices have consequences, but it was limited to good or evil, and the impacts didn't feel huge to me. That's why, I think they need to expand much more on the choices your character can make. Part of me wants the ability to make actual dialogue choices (think Fallout NV), though I don't want it to compromise the feel of Fable.

The enemies that actually stood out to me from the first Fable were the Minions. Magically autonomous, hunched-over assemblages of armor used as Old Kingdom attack animals (the red ones literally called War Dogs). That sort of magic is enrapturing. Some things I loved from Fable 2 and 3
-Fable 2's path of the hero progression system
-Fable 3's royal hubworld complete with treasury. Loved having this over a menu!!
-Across Fable 2 and 3 as the fable timeline progressed we got to see that the fanciful / mystical elements of the series became more obscure and hidden. like the world was maturing towards civilization and order and the fantastic creatures that resided in Albion still existed but were relegated to a smaller niche in the environment. Out of this we got to see cults / tombs and social interpretation of the arcane. Brightwood was always one of my favorite places because it was like this pocket on the map where an understanding of the old magics was still present and then by fable 3 it was this abandoned college of esoteric knowledge. Shit even the broken spire was visible from parts of the map. It just lent so much lucidity to everything and brought special moments of nostalgia (in real time) to the player as they discovered relics and artifacts that they had experienced first hand in previous games.
-Fable 3's revolution system was highly underdeveloped and disappointing so I'd be impressed if that was pulled off to great effect.
-Fable 3's intro to the darkling or whatever he was, was terrifying. That whole part of the map was haunting as fuck and almost broke character from Albion (almost).
-Again for effect, I love when stories reference each other. When new bosses reference old. Storytelling like this mimics real life.
Some ideas for a new Fable storyline. Albion experiences some sort of magical cataclysm that adjust the balance between magic and civilization. The learned mages / mystics aid humanity in surviving in a new world filled with ancient creatures reappeared. The industrial centers are hardest hit and basically decimated by the disasters. The hero has to retrace the map for relics of old (from each of the previous bosses / dungeons / creatures ) to piece together some sort of solution or understanding. The player gets to see that all the things they loved are alive and well in the wilds of Albion as they rally the civilized towns of albion to fight against some destructive force / entity.
Idk. Kind of rough but I just want to do some spelunking in Fable 4.

Like, instead of every single experience point adding an 8th or so of a year, they could start that process once you get to a certain point in the story, or after you've reached a level that's strong enough to beat the game but are still leveling up.

There's a few things I really want for this reboot and they are:
1): Have an open world with cities that you can travel through without loading screens that take forever,
2): The spells from Fable 1 to return and maybe have a few more added. I don't want spells that can be spammed perpetually or stupid magic gauntlets from Fable 3. I also don't want the combining of 2 different spells to make super powerful ones either. Magic in Fable 3 was beyond OP.
3): A nice range of early medieval to late medieval weaponry, especially firearms like the blunderbuss, arcubus, wheellock and flintlock pistol.
4): A proper final boss and a great final boss fight, something like the two parter fight against the Jack of Blades
5): The Potions of Fable 1, this includes having a max number of Resurrection Vials
6): The range of skills you can learn through books, similar to Fable 2
7): Be able to buy a plot of land and build your house from scratch, build it how you want and decorate it how you want.
8): To have a dog as a companion
9): Have Augments to return because they were pretty cool and very useful

  • @Marsh_125
    @Marsh_125 3 ปีที่แล้ว

There are some key things I’d love to see:
Tone: I’d like to see the game set in a similar time period to Fable 1. I loved the overall Britishness of the original Fable trilogy, especially Fable 1. Who remembers the trader who you buy your sister’s chocolates from? Such a small character but I loved the way he spoke “quickly, give me fwee gold pieces and they are yours!” The bald guy who embarrasses you by making you buy different haircuts and beards, he had a very distinct accent as well. I loved hearing all of these different British accents and the way they were voice-acted. They were all exaggerated versions of real accents which I found really cool. I loved how some areas felt like home, such as Oakvale. It was very nostalgic to return there after it was turned into Wraithmarsh. I want the British humour to stay, but I also want the game to be dark and gritty at times. It needs to strike that balance!
Combat: I’d like to see one-handed weapons that can be used on their own, as well as with shields, heavy two handed weapons, shields, bows and spells. I’d also like to see the combat be improved upon. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it but I think with all the advancements in technology, Playground Games can improve on this a lot. I don’t want to see it get too out of hand though... no guns or crossbows please!
Enemy types: I’d love to see lots of new enemy types, which feel realistic to the world (no robots or anything of the kind), but I also want to see the classics return - bandits, Hobbes, balverines, trolls. I’d like to see different factions maybe, like we do on Skyrim or those types of games.
Weapons: One of the most disappointing things about Fable 3 was the fact that legendary weapons didn’t feel legendary anymore. They just felt and looked like any other weapon and took away from the fantasy side of it. I loved how legendary weapons in Fable 1 & 2 had a history behind them, always a story to tell about them. There needs to be a variety of legendary weapons which aren’t too over-powered, but powerful enough to want to obtain. I want to see these be rewards for doing great things, but I also want ALL of them to be obtainable throughout one single play through. I hated the fact that I couldn’t obtain them all in Fable 3, as you had to trade them... that sucked.
Demon doors and collectibles: I loved searching for silver keys in Fable 1 and I loved the Scottish (or Irish, sorry I can’t remember) gargoyles in Fable 2 and the, the gnomes in Fable 3. They would taunt you and drive you crazy as you tried to hunt them down which I loved. The demon doors MUST stay in the Fable series. They’re one of the first things that come to mind when I think of those franchise and they have so much mystery and history behind them. I’d like to see them take us to bigger locations though, as I thought the scenery of each one was almost wasted as you were always in and out within 30 seconds. I want to see the silver key chests return, but have better rewards in them (for the higher tier ones at least). I hated opening one and just finding a potion, but I’ll let them off for the chests which require less than 20 keys or something.
Locations: I mentioned earlier that Oakvale felt like home. I want them to make a new location but make it FEEL like Oakvale. I want to have my character grow up there and develop lots of relationships with the villagers so that if/when it’s destroyed or something bad happens, we can revisit it later on and find those characters scattered across the land under different circumstances. For example, you might know someone from the town who’s a nice farmer or something, but due to whatever unfortunate event happens, you come across him being a bandit leader in another location as an adult. I don’t want to see any big bustling cities or anything like that, just nice simple villages and small towns. Keep the locations straightforward but I’d love to see it all link in as one big open world.
Music: PLEASE keep the soundtrack similar to the original game. We all love the music and the feeling we got from it!
There’s loads of other stuff I’d like to see but mainly I want it to stick to its roots somewhat. I want to feel the nostalgia when I play the new game, but have lots to experience in addition to it.
I can’t wait for the new fable!

  • @FullRamenAlch3mist

I love the Sword, Magic, and Bow combo but I really like the fast-paced nature of the combat in fable 2 and 3. More so Fable 2 since 3 removed the Assasin's Rush/Time spell. And It just feels so much better with a gun but I like the idea of a bow better.

2: max time-> max fireball/lightning-> max time-> max Raise Dead. rinse and repeat....
      3: gun-> gun-> gun-> melee-> melee-> melee. or... vortex/(X)-> gun-> gun-> gun-> gun.
i know there are a fair few out there who would call this cheap/the easy way, but you have to admit it is the most effective.

I think all these things are an absolute necessity to the point of being obvious.
I think you should make another list with more ambitious desires.
Fire example I want the game to be a reboot starting with the william black story. And for them to make a complete prequel trilogy and for them to take advantage of the opportunity and pick and choose the best parts of the Lore.
Demon doors, goblin statues, dog companion, more diverse spells, deep character customization, maybe delivere on the RTS mechanics many of us wanted in fable 3s king sections

  • @ZedTripler

I had an idea for the queen and knight of blades story wise, it's probably bad but I'd thought I'd share it anyway. The idea is that the playable hero is the reincarnation (or something along those lines) of the Knight. The queen (who also came back somehow) is trying to influence them to become the way they once were. The hero can either choose to side with the queen and become the Knight of Blades again or side with the morally good team and become a paladin of light or something like that. I imagine while playing the main story you'd play through flashbacks of the terrible actions the knight once did and later in the story you'd have to decide if you're going to repeat them or not.
Not sure if this is a good idea or not, or if it'd work for a fable game but I thought it sounded neat.
Let me know what you think!

    My message to Devs,
Please, take all the time you need finishing this game, don't give in to strict deadlines. But it's important to note because of recent events, a game spent years on isn't automatically good, 10 years worth of development means nothing if you didn't use the time wisely. Focus on the core, make sure it's stable and great, and then branch out with all the bells and whistles.

Do quest naked, barehanded, melee only, furthest chicken kicking contest, how fast can u shoot down a target, beat fight club without damage, etc.... Make it really challenging. Before watching this vid imma just say the 1 thing I need to see to return to this series that helped shape my formative years, is a return to the classic fable game, I’m not saying do the EXACT same thing, but take the elements of it that made it so iconic and beloved and transition them into a more modern version, because say what you will about the series as a whole, even though the second and third game had a lot of criticism, the original will always stand out as one of the best games of all time imo
Edit: after watching this I agree with everything said to the letter, only addendum I’d say is take most inspiration from the original fable, and a little less so from the later 2 games.

I absolutely adore it and I would love to see such menu in the new Fable too, but if it's not there - I'm completely fine with that.
Also, I would like to say that I want Playground Games to set the new Fable in the Old Kingdom. It's been such a mystery throughout the whole trilogy, we barely know anything about it. I want them to let us live in the times when the Old Kingdom was living out its last decades.

      I didn't hate it.
For me, it represented everything that was wrong with Lionhead's approach to Fable; the Fable 2 inventory system was a mess. No argument. They needed to fix it. Also no argument.
Their response, rather than building on what works, changing what doesn't, making the game better than it was by innovating with a direction in mind, it just seemed like their approach was "OK, nobody liked the menus. Fine. *MENUS ARE CANCELLED* happy now?! There's *no* menus for anyone!"
It just felt a bit like when you asked your mother for something different for dinner that night, then she screamed at you, threw things around, binned food and kicked you out of the house for the night.
OK, that didn't happen to anyone else, did it? Nevermind. You understand my point, I hope?

More heroes would be nice. As much as I love Fable, and I still play Lost Chapters to this day, I created a dnd-esk system using the dnd 3.5 rules and groundwork to play Fable with some friends as a table top game.
A quest I developed was that their guildmate who graduated with them turned evil and was trying to enter the Void in which Jack of Blades was from. The evil hero was turning people into demon doors, trying to get a portal to the Void.
Now I’m not saying I’d like to see that specifc quest idea in game. But a side quest where you have to confront your old guildmate and friend where you decide if you want to spare his life or kill him, that would be interesting.

1-The thing that should be said about demon doors is that they should offer a riddle for the player to solve... that's how we loved them in Fable The Lost Chapter... In order to open the door, you should actually use your brain and vast imagination to solve the riddle... In Fable III they completely eliminated that experience which made me so worried about the way they want demon doors to be, in the last game they made these incredible demon doors just give you a quest to do they even explain it in so much detail that it just lost that magic it has. Riddles !!! Riddles are the best thing in Fable.
2- We really need the old skill tree system back where you buy new skills with earned XP and where you can upgrade them and upgrade your character.
3- We need the simplest thing back which is the inventory system whether it's a stand-alone menu or integrated with the pause menu, it's just the only way it can work not the nonsense sanctuary that they made in the last Fable... we need the inventory menu back.

While I personally am more a fan of high fantasy than I am of a steampunk theme, I actually don't think the advances in 2 and 3 were as bad as people make it out to be. Rather than the studio going in a bad new direction, I like to think of it as the natural course of a world. It sorta leans into the thought of whether the fantastical could be real. Albion was once a lush land full of magic, but as humans spread and technology advanced, the world was turned into a resource for the machines rather than a place of mystery and wonder. With their habitats being destroyed, the magical creatures would have been pushed aside or killed to make way for the future, and seeing that slow change between the 3 games really made the world feel so much more real and alive for me.

I'd also like to be able to enjoy the game-world without any companions following me everywhere, telling me what I need to do and where I need to go, telling me to "hurry up". I want to enjoy the game world at my pace.
It would be really nice to have some form of character creator and customization options. Maybe even all the way down to picking a first or last name or both. Nicknames are fine, especially in the Fable tradition, but I like to play as "myself" in role-playing games if the option is there to name your character.
I'd love it if jobs were more elaborate to do, as well as more lucrative but got easier to do the more skilled you get. Timing things should be more difficult if you are a "novice" at a job and get easier with gains in experience and skill. No increasing skll by opening chests. Increase skill by doing the jobs.
To give examples of more elaborate work: A chef could read a book to learn a recipe, then mix ingredients together to "build" a dish. Then cook it, bring it out, and present/serve it. Don't just slap a piece of raw dough on top of a bowl, chuck it in the oven and tell me that I "made" a pie. Bards can learn songs (from sheet music) and play more complicated ones more easily (and for more gold) with skill and experience.
A blacksmith could make different parts of weapons and armor and put them together. A tailor could gather plant fibers to make cloth to fashion clothes that improve in quality and have more elaborate detail. A carpenter could make furniture and tools, even building and decorating our own homes would be nice.
One idea and hope I have , even if it's a pipe dream, is inspired by the series "The Guild". Instead of buying and owning "everything", it would be nice if we could build and run our own business, choosing the type of business and the kinds of goods we want to sell. Then expand our business by having a public house (tavern) or one of our stores in each village or major city or town.

I just hope we *eventually* get a full blown story... maybe like a prequel. Like,if you've read the lore, you have to wonder why they havent capitalized on a game about the Old Kingdom. Specifically about Scythe/William Black and how it all started with the Queen, Knight, and Jack of Blades coming from the void and into Albion. That would be so easy to write since the source material is already there. And please dont ever take away the Assassin's rush/Time spell thing where you instantly appear behind enemies

One of the biggest misses for me was in Fable 2 where the hardest boss was the spire shard, there was no emotional connection to the human bosses death, whether you killed him or not he died. I hope they have a satisfying ending that really relieves us of our reasons for wanting the antagonists death. I agreed with most all of what you said. Thank you for sharing your opinion.

Worldbuilding, lore, exploration, choices & consequences. These are the things I want the most. Combat doesn't have to be complex, just challenging.

They should have references to British culture too, LOTR references for example.

*Choice and Consequence* needs to be a core focus (aside from humor) since that was the main selling point of the first game. Something similar to Dragon Age, a lot of what Bioware does has this.

Gotta agree heavily on fable 3's annoying pause like why not just let us travel back to the Guild again or teleport there normally like fable 1 did and also what would have been cool in fable 3 is if you did gain allies have them come to the Guild? Even have special quests and what not if such an idea goes to the new one to rebuild the Guild by gaining allies who will be known later as heros would be freaking awesome

I hope they dont invent new monsters, not because new monsters wouldnt be interesting, but because we have already seen this fail miserably in Fable Legends. A bunch of people who didnt knew anything about the francise and couldnt care less invented a bunch of crapy monsters, based on their stupid ideas, nobody cared for, and absolutely nobody in the fanbase wanted to be implemented, while pushing almost all of the classic ones to the side. One of the new monsters was a blue giant who literally attacked the player with fart attacks. Humor is a big part of Fable, but if you reduce something so complex to one single aspect of it you will not copy the old formula, nor create something new, you will only disapoint the people who actually cared about it.
