For some reason, my dad (who hardly plays video games and doesn’t really like them) loved this game. Mainly because he likes snipers (not just the rifles but the actual military assignment) watching him play was a test in patience and seeing basic game design.
Good times tho.
Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 is a whole lot better than this one. The stealth mechanics are a lot more polished and realistic, you only have a silenced sniper rifle and silenced pistol, and the graphics are noticeably better. Also, the story is slightly more layered and personal, and the actual sniping mechanics are more fun to experience.

The "ghost x makarov" segment was too higher for infinity ward writers ability to be an actual story in their game
I remember my father bought it back in the day and beat it in one day. He said : "It's not Call of Duty, but still decent".
Since the stealth mechanics were really bad, playing this game was basically Call Of Duty, but with sniper rifles.

Sniper: Ghost Warriors sold so much beacuse was something that everyone wanted: even if it's a mediocre game, it's fun, and it's what (at least me) wanted, in a period where the sniper games were to arcade.
The second one it's not a great game, like the first one, but the third is very good (underrated for me) and Contracts 1 & 2 are two hidden gems.

Contracts was unironically pretty good, the sequel was even better. Low key excited to play whatever they put out next once I read the reviews
@@dirpyturtle69 I think it's because CI games finally learnt to stop trying to make cheap copies of bigger shooters or discount Far Cry and learnt to play into their skills. But Sniper Ghost Warrior was their first low budget game that wasn't a huge piece of shit but pretty fun for a game that was literally "all ghillied up" but for a while game. At least less painful than the second

Being a child, back in the days, I was in love with this game. Believe me or not, but having no choice but to play games my dad brought (which happened quite rarely) taught me how to be grateful for what I have.
That water effect is so weird it reflects the gun when you look at it even when you aren’t in the water
I think that's what the Chrome Engine does with its water simulation. It also did the same thing on Call Of Juarez Bound In Blood.

I played this game when I was young and I absolutely loved it and I still do.
I actually really REALLY wanted this game at the time and the sequel. I just loving playing as snipers so since it was a full game playing as a sniper I was like DUH?! Though I was playing a ton of other games.
Try Ghost Warrior 2... It's not as good as Sniper Elite series but it's very fun

It was made by City Interactive they were infamous of their shovelware shit in the mid 2000s. They released so many shitty games with the same game engine and gameplay, almost all of them were WWII FPS games and they were literally the same game just the missions were different. Only their recent 2 games feel like like they put some real effort into them.

This game was alot of fun when it originally launched. There was no other game like it that offered a pure sniper experience and the tech was impressive for its time. I played this a bunch on a PC that could barely run it. Good times.

This series has its ups and downs. Ghost Warrior 1 and 2 are okay at best. GW3 was garbage as it tried to be an open world game when the devs clearly didn't have the skill or budget to do so.
Contracts 1 and 2 are the high point of the series with the devs scaling back from 3 to within their capabilities, genuinely recommend them.
Sniper Art of Victory is the first game in the series and one of the worst games ever made.

This game was developed by studio called City Interactive, a companny that was releasing crappy games on polish market in like 2000-2009, for example the infamous Team 6 games, but as for a low budget game it was kinda fun to me, yeah, it isn't a great game, but it's not as bad as it may seem

Fun fact: This game actually isn't the first of the Sniper franchise, they made another one two years before it called "Sniper: Art of Victory" that was a World War 2 game. It was also horrible if you were wondering.
Bonus Fun Fact: You think this game selling over 1 million copies is crazy? What'll really bake your noodle is that they've made 4 sequels so far with the last one coming out in 2021. Each one has sold at least a million copies across all systems. I can almost guarantee another one will come out in 2023. So yes Oboe, you need to play through all of them for our entertainment.

You should try the Sniper Elite series (2 - 3 - 4 - 5) & especially the Zombie Army games (Zombie Army Trilogy & Zomie Army 4).
They are made by the same Developer (Rebellion Studios) who is a veteran studio that doesn't get enough recognition. The Sniper Elite series is more about stealth set during WWII. The Zombie Army games are all about action using the same engine as the Sniper Elite games and is set in an alternate WWII where there are zombies and is much darker & spookier. Great games, imho.
The Studio started the Sniper Elite series many years ago. After they made SE V2 (#2) they made "Nyahtzi Zombie Army" expansion for PC. Think of it as Undead Nightmare for RDR. It did well so they made a sequel. When they made the third expansion they released it as a bundle, hence the "Trilogy" (ZAT). ZAT basically uses the maps of #2 and gives it a more horror vibe. It also did well enough to make a full sequel (Zombie Army 4) which basically uses the maps of Sniper Elite 4. I'm guessing Zombie Army 5 will come out next year or the year after (2023 or 2024).
Both the Sniper Elite series (2 through 5) & the Zombie Army games use am X-ray kill cam which occasionally slows down time to give you an X-ray view at your bullets bursting organs & breaking bones. You can even do testicle shots (not kidding). They only occur while using the sniper rifle and you can adjust the frequency to occur less or more often. Really great games, imho that don't get enough love. Again, the Sniper Elite series is more 3rd person stealth but the Zombie Army games are just pure action (no stealth). I highly recommend checking them out to see if they are something you might like.
The MW2 Romcom segment was probably one of the greatest things you've ever done.
While this game is horrible, It did gave me some pleasant flashbacks and nostalgia for some arcade sniper gun games that I used to play on some shopping malls.

Whatever you say , this game was hit and a classic among lots of gamers. City interactive had some great shooter games..code of honor series was great. Sas game was great too. Terrorist takedown series.

Watching this is like an out of body experience. I vividly recall whole missions from CI Budget Titles like Code of Honor 3 and SAS Secure Tomorrow despite not having touched them in 10-15 years but this whole game was a blur after the first mission. Weird how CI's first attempt to go full AAA ended up being their most forgettable title.
I don't think it is forgettable since it sold well and allowed CI games to create a franchise.
