Things have progressed into such a machine over in Hollywood that it’s no longer realistic to hope for that to be a norm. I keep hearing these movies are bombing but they keep getting to production. Either the production companies are going to go broke in the future or there is an audience somewhere that is making this all possible (I.e. children maybe? Or some foreign audience such as China?). There used to be some pride behind making something new that can hit the top of the box office for the next few months. I don’t think that exists anymore. Movies are a business more so than they once were. The first question will always be to ask what will give us the highest probability of returning a profit. Nothing more. 7:02 This joke is present on a classic brazilian masterpiece called "O Auto da Compadecida", a comedy movie about brazilian folklore. One of the characters is a smart/cunning little shit and this joke makes its appearance when he is trying to convince a priest to give a formal religious burial for the dead dog of his employee.
I've been watching Joker 2 for an hour now, and I'm starting to think Billy Eichner is never going to make an appearance. Am I just wasting my time? wtf
You need a comma after the word "Hollywood" to make it a little clearer that you're telling Hollywood to try rather than stating that's what they're doing.

I have rarely laughed harder watching your videos and derived so much joy from them it's crazy. I hope the despot will understand. Best wishes from Boston from a fellow Irishman whose ancestors ran away during the famine and made it here. *Bows to the despot*
Honestly, I feel like one of this movie's biggest problems is just how imperfect the first movie was. I know that there's fans of the first, and while the 2019 movie had its pros, I can’t ignore its flaws. As giving Arthur Fleck/Joker a reason to be Joker, is both the movie's strength, but also its weakness. You see, while a majority of Batman/Gotham lore goes into great detail about the pathologies of his rogue’s gallery of villains, explaining what made them resort to their messed-up actions, with Joker's case, what makes him work is that he DOESN'T really have a pathology, let alone is suppose to have one. Sure, he has certain traits such as his obsession with circuses/comedy, his sadistic sense of humor, and his distaste for people not understanding what he's doing (“It’s part of the joke!”). But why Joker is a psychopathic clown is never really explained or really even hinted at, even in The Killing Joke, which Joker (2019) was inspired by, but this was THE WHOLE POINT. He was written as less of a fleshed out character and more of a manifestation of evil itself. A good example of someone like this too, is Judge Holden (Blood Meridian). Someone who's beyond logic or explanation, not a puzzle that can be solved. He just is who he is. Batman literally calls him out for this when he makes his argument about “One Bad Day”. Therefore, adding in so much sympathy to the character, strips from him this disturbing ambiguity, contradicting the entire essence of his character. It doesn’t even help to that the Director stated how he was inspired by a similar movie The King of Comedy. But those who have seen that movie would actually understand the fact that the main character, Rupert isn’t really all that sympathetic. Sure he has a plan and motivation, which may be some can be empathetic about. The dude is narcissistic, disturbed, and kind of psychotic with the way he’s going about what he’s doing. As well as the fact that the people who comes across, call him out for his dishonesty, him claiming to the contrary, which leads for us the audience to wonder whether or not he’s even telling the truth or not. Just like most unreliable narrators. So to see the sequel, try to downplay all this, instead of trying to find a way to work around it to actually make sure that we see that Arthur is 100% in the wrong of his actions, but is already far gone, really feels like the reason the sequel shouldn’t have existed in the first place.
Never forget Robin Williams performed “blame Canada” live on stage at the Oscar’s, and they just barely lost to Phil Collin’s for Tarzan. The South Park movie is a masterpiece and Matt and Trey are geniuses
Also, Warner Bros would rather greenlight another season of Velma than making a new Venture Bros season... I wish I was a WB exec, imagine half assing a job and still be paid and hired to do it again? Bad decisions seem to be WB's secret motto.

It's a crime to have Arkham Asylum gameplay imposed over that movie. To get across Just how big a flop Joker 2 is, it cost 200 million in production and another 100 million in marketing. As of now, it has grossed Just about 200 million, worldwide, making it still 100 million in debt. A film needs to make about 2.5x its budget to be successful and Joker 2 hasn't even made its money back, but Warner Bros' will tell you it's "dominating" the box office 🤣 In reality, the most financially successful film that came out last month was Terrifier 3, a low budget indie film that Hollywood refused to finance and the MPAA refused to rate. Also the first J movie didn't just resonate with men. A lot of people who are alone and struggling with mental health issues related to it.
Can't wait to see your worst of 2024, Des!
Omfg, I can’t either, I found despot this past summer and have watched his entire back playlist, so great! I have chills for next years Oscar’s as well as Grammy’s (just despots award shows, I haven’t watched the actual ones in over 27 years)
Have a pleasant weekend, wherever in the world you are

This joke is present on a classic brazilian masterpiece called "O Auto da Compadecida", a comedy movie about brazilian folklore.
One of the characters is a smart/cunning little shit and this joke makes its appearance when he is trying to convince a priest to give a formal religious burial for the dead dog of his employee.
Funny, when the Despot told the joke, I got reminded of that very movie. Lol
I've been watching Joker 2 for an hour now, and I'm starting to think Billy Eichner is never going to make an appearance. Am I just wasting my time? wtf
😂😂😂😂
I am a little bit pissed, that this feature is shorter than the actuall movie!😡
It's rare that a movie makes me as angry as this one did, and actively loathe it with all my heart!!! 🤬😤😬
Hollywood try not to destroy good films with shitty sequels
I'm not sure that's warranted. Look at Gladiator 2
@@TheNotoriousMrDee I'm personally not a fan.
@@Aureus_ That was a joke 😆
@@TheNotoriousMrDee My apologies then friend 😭
You need a comma after the word "Hollywood" to make it a little clearer that you're telling Hollywood to try rather than stating that's what they're doing.
"You just hate Joker 2 'cause it's gay." Well, okay, sure, but... Okay, yeah.
Congrats on 100k I never understood why you hadnt blown up long ago. As far as long-form modern media roasting, you're the king.
I have rarely laughed harder watching your videos and derived so much joy from them it's crazy.
I've even stolen some of your go-to's, like the mock misogyny followed by an exaggerated "Am I right boys??". First time I heard that I laughed so hard it hurt and I shamelessly use it in real life.
Thank you from someone who never intends on ever watching this film. You’re doing the lords work.
I didn't even make it through the first one.
You make hands down the best video essays on youtube, IMO. Keep up the good work you Despot.
Joker: Folie a Deux was a middlefinger ̶t̶̶o̶ from the audience.
Never forget Robin Williams performed “blame Canada” live on stage at the Oscar’s, and they just barely lost to Phil Collin’s for Tarzan. The South Park movie is a masterpiece and Matt and Trey are geniuses
You unironically have a far more beautiful singing voice than Joaquin Phoenix, and you weren't even trying.
Putting Lady GG in it was the 1st sign it was going after the audiences... and in a not so good way.
Copyright claiming is just part of WB strategy to recoup investment
When it was revealed that it was going to be a musical……I said FCK!……..then I calmed down and said FCK!!!
Also, Warner Bros would rather greenlight another season of Velma than making a new Venture Bros season... I wish I was a WB exec, imagine half assing a job and still be paid and hired to do it again?
Bad decisions seem to be WB's secret motto.
I'm so glad this thing bombed and even happier I didn't see it.
Joker 2 : "All the cultural impact of a fart in a hurricane." Despot's movie reviews are concise yet brutally correct lol
Rewatching and commenting. Screw demonetization.
Thanks Timmy.
2:36 😂😂😂 I love this addition to the video! Very nicely done my friend!
It's a pity that demonetization happened, because this material would have earned more than 2 Joker :D
Why are you so late with this? And only 1 hour? WTF ami gonna do with that? You cant get me used to 4 hour videos and skimp out on me.
Im not mad, im disappointed. Ill watch out of spite 😂
Love the channel bro
Thanks John!
The despot has blessed my feed once again
Congrats on 100k!
"FUCK YOU!"
- The Despot, probably 😂
Sooo it’s basically just a joker version of Glee
I've seen the original in full, but I'm going to rewatch this one just so your majesty gets paid
Thanks man, I appreciate it.
Hey it's my birthday today. And here's a gift finally!
Happy birthday man!
Thank you for reupload because I wanted to see the review two times.
6:55 thank you Despot for saying the joke knowing full well 95% of your audience will never see Honker 2 🙏🏼
Always a banger from you dawg
Currently watching 80s/90s movies/shows 👍👍😎. I am fine if Hollywood goes away for 20 years (especially Lucasfilm) 🙏🙏
I did a 6 hour review on this movie. It still doesn't make sense after watching the movie 4 times.
I checked out your channel. I like your room set up, I'm gonna give your Velma review listen later today.
@DespotofAntrim just keep in mind, the video is a sarcastic joke. But thanks! Love your channel and opinions.
While Madame Webb, Borderlands, and The Crow are not good movies in their own right, I don't think they have the active contempt for their audience the way Joker 2 does. Argylle, I felt I was sold a false bill of goods, would not recommend.
The crow was carrying contempt for the audience from what I seen.
I watched your original video several times and I will rewatch this one several times as well. I never thought I would enjoy The Despot yelling F you at me so much, but here we are!
I LOVE your rants! More than 3 of your videos are on heavy rotation, saved my Dirty Pleasures Playlist.
However, I care so little about the Joker sequel that I could even finish this one.
I'm leaving a comment just to bolster engagement as I let this video play at 0.25 speed. TH-cam's demonetization nonsense needs to be pushed back wherever possible.
Second upload, but FANTASTIC video ♥♥♥
Thanks Despot. Nice to see this one back. I might have gone to see Joker 2, if Arthur had told the guards that they only thought they were great because they had BOATS !
The Despot has returned.
👏🏻...👏🏻...👏🏻...👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It's a crime to have Arkham Asylum gameplay imposed over that movie. Arkham Joker is one of the best written villains in any piece of entertainment (at least for the first 2 games) and penned by the DC comics writer who created Harley Quinn, modern Holywood doesn't hold a candle to the talent of old comics book writers.
Arise, arise, subscribers of The Despot!
Feel deeds awake, fire and laughter!
Teeth shall be shaken, gut shall be busted!
A video day, a red day, here the video rises!
Play now, play now, play Joker 2 is overrated!
Far More thought went into this review than the movie. ❤
Oh no, how terrible, i have an excuse to watch this fantastic video again.
When I first heard about what they were doing with the sequel I knew this movie was going to suck. I can only watch a sickly skinny joker not knowing what he should do. Random dancing and a super odd relationship with Harley Q. Ugggggggg😫😫😫
My tinfoil hat about this movie is that it was made to be as awful as possible just to make Warner Bros lose tons of money on it because they wouldn't stop begging for a sequel to be made
❤the thumbnail, and your introduction. I might borrow the DVD 📀 from the library, just to see how bad this is, and so the studio makes as little money as possible
Wow Despot, just another unnecessary sequel.
Calling Todd Phillips a sellout is pretty rich now.
I'm sure I commented this on the orginal video but I'll re-comment it for anyone interested..
To get across Just how big a flop Joker 2 is, it cost 200 million in production and another 100 million in marketing. As of now, it has grossed Just about 200 million, worldwide, making it still 100 million in debt.
A film needs to make about 2.5x its budget to be successful and Joker 2 hasn't even made its money back, but Warner Bros' will tell you it's "dominating" the box office 🤣
In reality, the most financially successful film that came out last month was Terrifier 3, a low budget indie film that Hollywood refused to finance and the MPAA refused to rate.
Terrifier 3 cost 2 million in production and half a million in marketing. As of now, it has grossed over 80 million, worldwide. That's well over 30x its budget.
If you re-upload i am gonna watch it the third time!
I'm so looking forward to this year's Worst of Woke Awards 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I’ll never be watching this one . I don’t want to ruin the excellence of Joker.
That intro was pure comedy gold.
Who asks 😐 for this sequel 😳 🤔 and who is it for 😅😊
Joker: nasty ah poo
Joker 2? Never heard of it, it doesn't exist
Love the introduction! Perfect summary 😻
Musical could work in a distorted reality way where Joker does bad thing with Lady Gaga while dancing. Kinda like imaginary girl in first movie.
I may be a complete loser but at least i didnt have any involvement in joker 2 phew 😌
Started watching the South Park movie because you made me want to lol. I shit you not, I had the same realization about the name of the movie. I'm 34 and have seen the movie at least 20 times, never realized the joke behind it until last night.
You deserve more than 100k subs fella
