I am super thankful for this video. Had to say it haha . I recently acquired a garage with purchasing a home with my wife and had a great set up to pull this off so just had to show that thankfulness 100% and you definitely rock hard-core for taking the time to go over every step that was needed 🎉
Thanks for this. I was planning to replace the waterpump only. Now I bought replacement for timing belt, tensioner, engine mount, and also Serpentine belt.
Wow, Amazing video bud!...thank you so much, now i can try to do it on my girlfriends car, changed the alternator last year, with the serpent belt....the way you did it with the ziptie is just genius 😀... i had so much treble with it, thank you. keep it up, the quality of your video was amazing, and the way your explaining is great...you defiantly know what your doing, wish there was more mechanics like you around me :P Great video, Thank you so much again!
Excellent ! Author has taken every care to explain the process. Incidentally this is the 1.25 Duratec petrol engine. I shall use this video when I do my belt, tensioner, water pump replacement. 5 star.
Hello, seen, liked, satisfied and subscribed to you. I don't know your name (I would tell you by name as a sign of appreciation) but besides the clear and detailed details of this tutorial you made me remember many years ago with your calm and deep voice of a game Max Payne, which I enjoyed with great pleasure at the time. You have a beautiful style of telling stories and making reading enjoyable. Keep it up strong and keep your fans close to you!
At the 28:48 mark, you make a comment about the crank timing belt gear spinning freely. How is that possible... I'm thinking it needs to be keyed into the crankshaft... if the gear turns, the crank turns and vic versa. Please explain this free spinning design. other than displacement, what is the major differences between the 1.2l and the 1.6l thanks.
Hi, crankshaft itself is lock, but crankshaft gear/pulley spins freely and they dont have any locking on them and once big pulley for auxilery belt in install the crankshaft pulley bolt that secures both pulley together and it “sandwitch” timing belt crankshaft gear and prevents it from spinning freely once engine is started, I hope this gives some idea.
Thank you so much for making and sharing this video! So easy to follow! One thing I wanted to see if you could get your opinion on. I went through this step by step and the engine started right up. After about ten minutes of driving the check engine light came on and stayed on. I'm gonna run a scanner, but i just wondered if there was anything common after a timing belt replacement. Thanks again for such a great video!
Hi, happy to help, well it could be many things starting from one tooth out on timing belt(this is that I had come accros most) then maybe some sensor not plugged it all the way and it could something totally not related to what you did just coincidence that something went out right after you work on it, best thing as you said is to read fault code with scanner, best of luck. Thank you!
Thanks for making a detailed video. There’s an other tool that locks the fly wheel from the starter mount. I think that one will help hold the engine tight in position so you can torque the crank pulley bolt to specs without breaking anything or losing timing. Correct me if I’m wrong
hi wonderful video. i went to a garage that gave me a nine hour estimate to do this. is this correct? seems a bit long....how long did it take you? other video's i saw just have cams locked in place at the pump side with a tool without removing all the cam covers, spark plug etc. did you remove it just to make sure you had top dead center on cylinder 1? with the cam lock tool and the crank bolt install would that be enough? thanks again,
Hi, it takes me longer because of filming videos, but over all you can do that job under 4h, yes all I lock was just camshafts at the top and crankshaft with that bolt, thats all you need to do! 9h is okay if the place where you took it charging £20per hour labour, if they charge over £60 than they just trying they luck to earn easy money!
did you torque the crank bolt after something like 74ft then 90 degree after 2 min another 15 degree? i just use impact gun to tight it up as well.. since the bolt is very loose when coming out.
Great video! I liked and subscribed. I have a question. I have an Mk6 2008 1.4 petrol Fiesta. I heard it has the same engine like this one in the video. Is it true? Is it the same way to remove the timing belt on my mk6 like on this one? Thanks! Looking forward to see more video from you.
HELP! I did my waterpump and everything seemed fine afterwards(except for longer cranks before start) and a few weeks later it just completely quit starting up. I wedged my timing belt with the two top cams so nothing would move. Does the timing effect a no start?(2016 Ford fiesta se hatchback)
@mateuszkolacki1704 I guess I have another big question, Would I be able to zero the timing if I use just the crank lock pin and a cam lock? I have seen somebody else talking about a flywheel lock pin and some other lock pin i think below the starter.
Hi, yes, as water pump is right behind timing belt, it is better to di both in same time, i had in past where customer insisted to do only timing belt and two months later his water pump gave up and he had to pay whole labour again.
@@EverydayValuedMechanic thank you my friend for your reply can you advise me where to buy timing tool? I want to do this job my self i don't find a hood mechanics that do a good job
Hi, not 100% sure, I remember that is was not due by mileage it was somewhere around 53000miles, but I carries out work due to bad water pump, thanks for the comment!
Hi, sorry to hear that, but possibly timing is out, it is their problem and shouldnt charge you for it, or in rare cases something else went wrong and it is coincidence that happened now, if they saying you have to pay extra and you think you shouldnt - take car to another garage for diagnostic and if other garage says that previous mechanic did something wrong, they should cover repair costs and diagnostic cost from other garage, atleast good garage gonna do that!
If your crank timing belt pulley isn’t bad already replace it now because or you will be doing this job again. They come apart , had to do it on 2 of mine already. You will know with a come and go engine raddle. Piss poor design on them pulleys.
I agree, similar to BMW once collapse on my personal car and had to take the cylinder head of to change damaged chain cover, but regarding this car as it not my call I am replacing only what custoner asked me, even if it goes against my suggestions!
Awesome video. Glad I waited a few months before doing it!! All previous videos I seen for this job have been junk. Great helpful video!
Happy to help! Thank you

Thanks for the sub, heh never heard compliment like this, i like it and I also used to play those games 🙈 thank you!
This video was put together very well. I’m saving this for the repair!
Great videos by the way the trick using zip tie to put back the alternator belt is amazing. i gonna use it without a doubt!!!
This video has been completely invaluable, very detailed and well explained. Excellent!
Great to hear!, thank you
This kind of video is worth subscribing to the creator!
Thank, much appreciated.
Very good video and great job. Thank you.
This was a great video very clear instructions thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Got this job coming up, thanks for the informative video
Hi great video thanks, how different is this process for a 2013 wet timing belt change? Thanks
Hi, I would not take this video as reference on wet timing belts, best of luck on your repairs and thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for posting, excellent.
Happy to help!
Excellent work great information and we'll explained. 100% clearest video ever!
Much appreciated, happy to help.

great trick with the cable tie to refit the belt
Yeah, when I saw it first time, right then i knew this my new metod now 🙈

Possibly, this tool i have been using for years and it worked well so far, if i come across another tool, maybe will make another video
Great way to get it on 👏🏿👏🏿
Great video!!
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
bro, this was an amazing video. keep up the great work. How many hours would you say this took you?
With filming takes longer, but average you can do this under 4h
This is a great video for this job. Is the process the exact same for a 2014 fiesta? Thanks
Hi, if engine is same than yes process gonna be same, maybe some extra sensors or wiring but main thing gonna be same!
Thank you very much for wonderful information. I have done few of them but I'm still nervous because if you make mistake, it's very costly.
Bom vídeo, foste um máximo. Há que dar valor a pessoas como tu
Thank you!
very good!!!! bravo!!!
Excellent, Thanks!

What's that pulley puller you used?
Hi, universal pulley puller, they go for around £25 on Ebay and Amazon
did you torque the crank bolt after something like 74ft then 90 degree after 2 min another 15 degree? i just use impact gun to tight it up as well.. since the bolt is very loose when coming out.
On this just impact gun
Thanks, I am just using impact gun as well
Would recomend to use after breaker bar or bigger ratcher to confirm that the bolt is tight enough!
Yes...I did but it won't move anymore and I just reuse the bolt since the local dealers need to take a week for delivering.
Very good video. Thank you
Glad you liked it, thank you
Hey mate just wondering what tool kit you got and how much it was and where you got it from, there’s so many ones I’m unsure. Thanks
Hi, this garage where im working, they have self made locking tool 🙈 its been working so far, but on amazon you can get them for £35
Thanks for that mate, also what are dimensions of the flat bar to slot in to stop it from turning over?
Great video! I liked and subscribed. I have a question. I have an Mk6 2008 1.4 petrol Fiesta. I heard it has the same engine like this one in the video. Is it true? Is it the same way to remove the timing belt on my mk6 like on this one? Thanks!

Hi and thank you, yes they all are pretty much same you may find some extra wire or bracket here and there, but the timing belt area gonna be same.
HELP! I did my waterpump and everything seemed fine afterwards(except for longer cranks before start) and a few weeks later it just completely quit starting up. I wedged my timing belt with the two top cams so nothing would move.
Does the timing effect a no start?(2016 Ford fiesta se hatchback)
Also, the alternator there acts as a belt tensioner. Loosen it first leaving the 3rd bolt on bottom slightly loose and easily take belt off and on.
❤
Check the timing on it, it might have skipped a tooth or so. If timing is off you'll get issue with starting. Do you have check engine light on?
@@Duxieking69 had one before I did the waterpump job. 😂
Thx for confirming. I had assumed as well it may have jumped timing. But wasn't sure that was a thing
@mateuszkolacki1704 I guess I have another big question, Would I be able to zero the timing if I use just the crank lock pin and a cam lock? I have seen somebody else talking about a flywheel lock pin and some other lock pin i think below the starter.

From amazon should be okay
How many miles did the car have when you changed all this? Thanks in advance.
Hi, not 100% sure, I remember that is was not due by mileage it was somewhere around 53000miles, but I carries out work due to bad water pump, thanks for the comment!
Don't you need to use flywheel lock tool as well? You put it where the starter motor is.
where can i buy that exact puller you are using bud
On ebay
SATRA Universal Puller Ribbed Drive Pulley Cranckshaft Auxiliary Remover Tool
Great video
Only one thing try to get slack on the tensioner side not other :) apart that all fine
As bottom puleey spins freely i think it doesnt make much difference, but on most other cars definetly slack has to be on tensioner side! Thanks
❤
That aux belt is doneeee
Agree, i informed customer, in reply i got he will do that next time!
They change My water pump and it loss power

That`s not a 1.6 engine.
Yes, my bad its 1.2 😅 thanks!
