I'm going to have to go with Age of Calamity. Not only because it just induces tears when you hear it in the game, but its context and history make it more impactful. It also doesn't hurt that it was an actual lullaby for Zelda.
Somewhere around the time of A Link Between Worlds, this song began feeling very tragic. It has taken on a wistful, almost melancholy nature. How many times will Link and Zelda come face to face, without recognizing each other, to save the world? Will they or their ancestors/reincarnations ever have peace?
It's that cycle of reincarnation, where the one with the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero come together to repel the hate of the demon. It is because of this that Hyrule is allowed to continue to exist. Even after Hyrule is drowned beneath the ocean, the same forces will continue to resurface until time itself crumbles to dust, in the constant struggle of the light versus the darkness. It is only fitting that the song that is derived from the song that awakens the powers of the goddess should be a somber melody, as it represents this ceaseless cycle that ensures a brighter tomorrow for the rest of Hyrule.
the breath of the wild version is so heart-wrenching. on one hand, they're finally okay, ganon is gone and there is no more threat of total destruction as of now for hyrule. but on the other, zelda has to finally face a new hyrule which she doesn't even know, one of ruin and dystopia. but it isn't the typical post-apocalyptic world, it ended gradually, slowly, and with deterioration, and then w see the champions and her father looking out as they leave the world in full. idk bro it just wrecks me emotionally
I wouldn't say new hyrule is a dystopia. It's more post-apocalyptic. But it's fragmented society is very pastoral and actually kinda peaceful. She might actually take to loving it.
I agree because at the start it’s more sad because of her state but then it starts picking up and becoming more cheerful to shows how’s she’s determined to help link and get her body back. At least imo XD
@@melonlord4606 I feel like they wont remake spirit track for the same reason the wont make a new F-Zero. The system doesnt have something to offer that would make it worth doing. It's because it is programmed to a painful degree to serve one purpose; cheer Zelda up. Every single thing that it did in Age of Calamity from changing the course of history to playing Zelda's Lullaby whenever it saw her cry... it did it all for her and it asks for nothing in return but her smile. It's such a simple goal, yet becomes so heartrending at major points in the story
My absolute favorite version of Zelda's Lullaby is the one in Skyward Sword. Sadly, the motion controls didn't like me, and so my friend played through most of it for me so I could see the story. However, I did beat the Skyloft Silent Realm for myself, and it only took two tries ^^ I almost did it in one, I had all of the tears but accidentally ran into a Guardian
Those of you who liked the skyward sword version, I agree the woodwind absolutely killed it. The oboe is the one playing the main melody! A very beautiful instrument.
Skyward sword will have the best version on almost any song. Ss has an orchestra and some well worked trough songs with the correct instruments that just touch the emotional spot perfectly
Fun fact about the minish cap one. The song playing is actually the staff roll / finale of infinity from ocarina of time, which incorporates almost all the songs from ocarina of time in it!
The song that makes me cry almost every time I hear it. I love it so much and the fact that it sounds just as beautiful reversed is amazing. Koji Kondo is an absolute legend.
@@ZelinkGamer_ Oh hello lol. For some reason TH-cam doesn’t send me notifications when my comments have 3/4 or more likes so that’s why I’m responding so late.
I honestly think spirit tracks was the most unique and has the most interesting changes to the chords that are perfect for the scene. Besides that I'd have to go with skyward sword.
Zelda's lullaby in age of calamity needs some context. So before you say it's bad hear me out ^^ It's played by a little guardian named Terrako! It's very closed to zelda and so it plays her lullaby to cheer her up or to show her it'll be okay. There's another version where terrako is destroyed and the melody is completely broken and off tune and that one just breaks my heart. (You can also hear zelda's lullaby in "with power awakened" "the king and the princess" themes in aoc and in the memory "despair" in botw")
I think Wind Waker's rendition impacted me the most as a kid. Fresh off of Ocarina of Time, hearing that familiar tune right after learning about what happened to the legendary kingdom I loved from the previous game hit me in the gut. Especially with the mosaics of the six Sages lining the chamber. All of those fond memories came washing back and it was like saying goodbye to all of them.
Wow, you can really tell that Skyward Sword was the first game to get an actual orchestra to play the music, going through this video it sounds almost holy when SS pops up! My favourite is probably Ocarina of Time though. It was far from my first Zelda game but it's just so iconic and makes me tear up.
I love that the ones that succeeded Ocarina of Time (Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks) all used woodwind instruments that sound similar to the ocarina
I’m a bit biased because Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game, but I absolutely love its rendition of Zelda’s lullaby when you first meet her. All of the unique chords you can hear are so pretty. Very close second would be Skyward Sword. It fits Zelda so well and I love hearing her sing too. 💙
I played the Ocarina of Time version for Piano Recital just a few days ago. It felt so good, being able to play something I loved so much in front of other people. For that reason, the Ocarina of Time version will always hold a special place in my heart, especially since Ocarina of Time was the game that really made me love the series with a passion. Though I think the time that Zelda's Lullaby hit me the hardest was when I heard it woven into the Hyrule Castle theme in Breath of the Wild. Though I think Twilight Princess was beautifully powerful.
Spoiler for botw - - In one of the last memories as Zelda and Link are running through the forest, for a slight moment just before Zelda falls behind, you hear the music playing and quickly getting louder and overwhelming.
I say Age of Calamity for me. It just hits different then the other ones. It makes you wanna ball up and cry. It is so tragic to hear especially when you hear its backstory
just a decade ago almost no one remembered that the song originated on the snes. It was one of my biggest pet peeves. Even my Twin had forgotten at one point. It was always my favorite version of the song.
Skyward sword is easily my favorite out of them all! Even though i may have not played the game just yet and only finished BOTW, I feel some nostalgia towards it... I love it so much.
I like ALTTP version because of the celtic waltz and chippy of the original version and my second favourite is the Twilight Princess version with the choir. It feels like she's a matured, fitting theme as a princess of the kingdom. Most variations of the Zelda Lullaby is the Spirit Track version. Hyrule Warriors seems like it's her wedding.
Tbh botw and age of calamity tear at my heart the most because of how sad everything is with context. Zelda now had to rule Hyrule without her father, or most of the champions. Only Link and Impa are still alive(as well as Robbie and the other girl I forget her name), and Impa won't be for long. And Terrako just... Terrako. If you've played the entire game you understand.
its not in this video, but the version that plays in tears of the kingdom... Not to spoil anything but after the events of that game it hits hard. I cried after finishing it.
To me, it's difficult to choose a favorite version, All of them sound so good, but my favorite version of the character is the one from Spirit Tracks, that Zelda was probably the best companion of Link (Besides Midna), she was charismatic, funny, not annoying and overall a great character.

Ocarina of time forever holds a special place in my heart. Not only my first Zelda game, but my first video game in general. Love everything about the game especially the ZeLink moments
You know, as rude as Zelda is sometimes, in both her pirate form (Tetra) and normal form (Princess Zelda), she genuinely cares about Link, and is typically nice to him, even helping him along the way. Link and Zelda just get frustrated sometimes, which is totally natural!
Musically speaking Age of calamity is not the best, It's sad just because the context, but the best in the musical sense is between Minish cap and Skyward sword.
I really hope zelda's lullaby is recurrent in botw 2, after all, she is back to see how everything is gone except for link, zelda's lullaby is... Well, a lullaby! Zelda feeling sad wouldn't be strange, a lullaby would fix it lol
That interaction between Link and Zelda in Skyward Sword is so cute, and the way Link looks at Zelda
Of course that's not the scene but yeah

You know, as rude as Zelda is sometimes, in both her pirate form (Tetra) and normal form (Princess Zelda), she genuinely cares about Link, and is typically nice to him, even helping him along the way. Link and Zelda just get frustrated sometimes, which is totally natural!
Fun Fact, in Skyward Sword, Ballad of the Goddess, is Zelda's Lullaby, BACKWARDS!!
The skyward sword and the age of calamity version always makes me cry. These versions are really sad😢😭😭😢
This as a leitmotif is genius
Honestly playing Age of calamity makes zeldas lullaby from terrako much better.
Zelda from 2006 look cool af in the thumbnail
Botws is fucking soul crushing.
Musically speaking Age of calamity is not the best, It's sad just because the context, but the best in the musical sense is between Minish cap and Skyward sword.
Bro, any of this songs is the best, its all about opinions, you like those 2 but other could like other ones, all dependends in what you like
@@playeronair870 Emm nope.
@@purran86 well, looks like Someone is too Young to understand some things, It happens to ALL of us
@@playeronair870 Uhhh.... Still nope.
@@purran86 music is not objective lol you don't really get to say what the best music is
MAKE THE BREATH OF THE WILD ONE DOWNLOADABLE OR I WILL EAT YOUR COOKIES. I AM TRYING TO FIND IT EVERYWHERE, BUT ONLY HERE I CAN HEAR IT
This concludes us that TP Zelda is so badass that she's holding a sword in the thumbnail
I really hope zelda's lullaby is recurrent in botw 2, after all, she is back to see how everything is gone except for link, zelda's lullaby is... Well, a lullaby!
Zelda feeling sad wouldn't be strange, a lullaby would fix it lol
Tan similares y tan diferentes a la vez, cada una me trasmite. Un sentimiento de nostalgia diferente.
I’ve never played the game so I have no attachment, but the last one makes my ears ring and not in an ironic good way.
I love ALTTP it is the perfect story of heroism. Makes sense that it introduced a lot of great themes to the Zelda Universe.
Amazing work man❤
