    Wonderful instruction. The hardest part of getting lessons is finding someone who “really” knows what he or she is talking about and not just trying to fit you into static positions or trying to get you to swing like the tour player of the day, or putting you into positions that aren’t normal for you or screwing up your timing and sequence. It’s the same problem with getting properly fitting, finding someone who is “really” interested in helping you and not just wanting to make a high value sale by up charging for exotic shafts and “puring.” Looking forward to your journey with Goltec and this instructor. Cheers.

      Basically, you got the cream of the crop in instructors. And that's the issue; if you want to sign up for lessons how do you know who's good and who's not?

      @@normankleinberg5525 Exactly, there are so many out there that are crap. I wish I knew how to find a good one and nobody seems to know how to choose one correctly. You can’t go by Golf Digest’s top instructors because that is not good way to choose, unless you don’t mind wasting your money and time. Cheers

    i do kind of a modified stack and tilt. i use a strongish firm grip and on my practice mat at home i have target line marked on it and another line marked about 15 degrees inside that and try to swing back and thru along that line. i keep my feet kinda flat on the ground and swing back and that does turn my shoulders without purposely trying to turn them and i can put a good wack on the ball with a consistent draw pattern and decent distance and it's repeatable for me. i'm 73 yrs old and a 12 hdcp. when i try to get more body into it is when it goes off the tracks. my 7iron is 140 and drive 220+.

    @timothypollock8358 ปีที่แล้ว

    You are full of surprises! I'm glad that this revelation has finally clicked and it's interesting to find out about the wrist mobility issue; beyond what I already knew. I guess that it wasn't coming across very readily but I have been telling you these things for a long time now. I was saying such things as keep the club in front of your turn more, slow down the transfer of weight to your trail heel and the turn of your hips and have the club working up more relative to your turn, keep the clubhead moving wider and higher longer in the early swing, etc., etc..
    Communication is an interesting thing and for one thing, this shows the power of a visual demonstration over meerly a verbal or written one. I could see that this was what was happening but just couldn't come up with verbiage that got the point across.
    In the end, your takeaway was just following your body motion (which is also something that I have said) and there is an instinctual urge to keep those in synch with one another so in your case, fixing the body was the most helpful and changed the path of your clubhead.
    The thing was that no matter how much you changed the clubhead path in the first few feet of the swing, you would then cause it to "catch up" to you old pattern by resuming your extreme body motion very quickly. If everything in the early middle swing had been much more moderate in nature, you might have discovered a workable clubhead path but I think that as we all do, you were seeking power (sometimes to our swing's detriment) and turning (albeit unhelpfully) to achieve that. However, in the golf swing, technique easily trumps physical effort when that technique is too far off the mark.
    In any case, I'm glad that has got you going in the right direction and this series will be interesting to watch and very instructive for a lot of golfers, I'm sure. Cheers.

    • @GolfTestDummy
      @GolfTestDummy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it's pretty eye opening when you can have a pro break down video, put measurements to it, and then help you physically and visually. Words are interpretive, and seeing something is way different than saying it. It's also a COMPLETELY different thing to KNOW what to do, but not be able to do it.

    • @timothypollock8358
      @timothypollock8358 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GolfTestDummy Other interesting observations are 1) that you lead upper arm got off of your chest much more and 2) that you had what I would call a "false hip turn" in the sense that it was too flat for the depth of trail hip move that you were making. The trail hip cannot merely be pushed back, it has to turn in synch with the motion that the whole body is making. If you look at Champ for example, his trail leg straightens and his hip turn is about as big as you can get and still keep your hips on plane, but at the top his trail hip is less deep than yours was and overall there is much more of a balance of tilting (inclined hip turn) AND turning in the hips which keeps the shoulders on plane. Your hip motion was actually flattening your shoulder plane and putting the trail side of your body too far back in your swing to be able to come down on plane. Cheers.

    Robert Johansson (You Tube) speaks of a tilt rather than a turn like you were doing before the lesson. I doesn't seem to matter how you think of it as long as one gets into the best position to deliver the club through the ball. It was amazing to see how tech and data can find out what is really happening not what we think is happening. I can't wait to see what's next.

    I never really hear people say this, but it seems like its about limiting degrees of freedom in movement. So adding in the hips, and twisting the shoulders, too many variables are added. If you keep them straight or turning as one, and using the back leg straightening as a limit for turning, then you've reduced a lot of variables.

    I’ve had three lessons at my GolfTec so far. Looks like we’re both learning a similar swing. I’m starting from much worse position then you are. My golf coach told me I would need about 20 lessons to rebuild my old Nick Faldo swing as he called it. But I’m also learning a ground up swing, he calls it 80 % Legs and 20% arms were before I was the opposite. I says I’ve made it to about 50% and 50% so I made a some progress. Good luck, and very cool.

Also, appears each teacher uses their on philosophy to get you to green zone. I see some are Stack and Tilt, and others are traditional, so that is interesting. I was just looking up Shawn Clement when I stumbled across your channel. This seems completely like the opposite notion with regards to the hips. Wonder how you’re finding the difference between the two. Maybe the answer’s in some of your other videos. Lol. Cameron Champ is a twenty six year old professional athlete and this guy is a middle aged guy with no flexibility. Advising him to reduce his hip turn is dubious advice for his age. Guarantee he will still hit over the top. He needs to look up Brian Sparks Easiest Swing and accept his body type instead of trying to turn back the clock. Midlife golfers aspiring to swing like a pro is a symptom of a midlife crisis. Less analysis and more feeling your own bodies movement patterns will help you more than forcing positions.

      I'm not sure if this is a comment for me or not. It's written as if you're talking to the guys at Golftec, but this isn't their video. I've done many swing reviews over several years now, and I've watched a lot of Brian's videos, may he RIP, along with many other teachers of unconventional methods. But I try to cover a lot of bases and be fair to all of them, including more conventional teachings. To somebody that doesn't know me, I can understand the midlife crisis comment, but then again, it could be worse. I could let my receeding hairline grow back and try to fix it Rogaine, plop my old ass down in a Red Corvette and hit a few bars talking about what I used to be back when. But instead, I'm still trying to improve myself and reach a goal I set long ago, back before it was the latest fad.
