    Elvis was gravely ill here. His health was failing. Retaining water, glaucoma. He NEVER lost his AMAZING voice! Sadly, he died a short time after singing this at only 42yrs old .

      What was Elvis Presley's cause of death?
      Elvis Presley died at 42 years old following years of drug abuse and his cause of death has been widely debated.
      Doctors said he died of a heart attack, likely brought on by his addiction to prescription barbiturates.
      The showstopping entertainer was suffering at the time from liver damage, high blood pressure, an enlarged colon and emphysema.
      Medical examiners found that he had traces of 14 drugs in his system at the time of his death, 10 of which were present in significant quantities.

    • @DanSmith-cb5vj
      @DanSmith-cb5vj ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pork/bacon was a large contributing factor to his death. His body was to the point of not distinguishing how to function under the constant use of drugs and raw bacon consumption added to an impacted bowel. The strain of trying to push all that was constricting his colon and his heart couldn't handle the stress of it all. This is not a comment of joking, it is a serious analogy of a great possibility of what happened. Thank you!

    This was a matter of weeks before he died. So sad. At first I never wanted to watch any of the footage from this concert because you can tell his health was deteriorating. They had him on so many drugs for all these different things. But amazingly, these are some of his greatest singing performances. For example, there is an earlier version maybe from the Hawaii show where he does the religious him how great thou art, one of my favorites. And it's a show of force and he's maybe five years younger or something or four years younger I guess. But the one from this show, again, shortly before he died, is absolutely stupendous and his band and choirs loved him so much. They would go to extraordinary links and he really put their feet to the fire on How Great Thou Art on this one compared to the earlier one. At some point they pull off a 35 second sustain building to the climax. Obviously there's some shared cycled breathing and that kind of thing but they're all in for the last many seconds of it. It's just breathtaking and Elvis sounds so operatic. His voice just kept getting better and better right up until the day he died.

    Just NOBODY ON EARTH was as talented IN THE BARITONE MIDRANGE as Elvis Presley was. He adds SO MUCH CHARACTER AND EMOTION in these octaves, its just impossible to imagine ANYONE sounding like him again. So few artists are baritones, because its nearly impossible to impress and opt for higher notes. Elvis will stay in his unique space until he BREAKS OUT several octaves OUT of his comfort zone WITH EASE. Just fabulous and a ONE-OF-A-KIND storyteller of prose. We'll never see his likes again.

    Know that Elvis had the genetic ailment A-1 antitrypsin causing COPD/emphysema which began yrs. earlier & at some point needed the use of an inhaler to help him breath -- so how the heck he was able to belt out those powerful songs night after night, yr. after yr. is some sort of a miracle. Yes, he absolutely did his own thing when he covered songs of others -- he would never try to imitate, or try to be like or sound like anyone -- he didn't need to -- not w-that voice, that emotion (that most artists are unable to convey) -- he was his own person on stage, all natural, doing his own thing that he did the best, like no one before or since, along w-the most amazing back ups & musicians.

You need to check out the movie King Creole, as it's my favorite Elvis movie and it has my favorite Elvis song in it, Trouble. Not T-R-O-U-B-L-E, as he does that song as well. Just Trouble.

Do yourself a favor and listen to Roy Hamilton's version. That guy can sing! Also listen to his version of You'll never walk alone. Elvis sang the song remarkably similar to Roy's version. To be honest the righteous brothers version was way better than Elvis Presley's version, Bobby Hatfield made such a brilliant job, I love Elvis he was a world beater, the song didn't suite him. At rock and roll he was unbeatable. He wasn't at his best here.

    The one thing Elvis did NOT do was try to recreate someone else's work. He was going to put his own spin on everything he did. If you play back to back versions of a song Elvis covered to the original, you will get a VERY different feeling from Elvis' version and it'll usually sound a little bigger and more full. Vocally, the closest you'll find as far as style would probably be Hurt. Elvis loved Roy Hamilton and kept his version similar to Roy's as far as vocals.
