    Glover was literally apologizing for punching him as he was punching him. That moment was worse than the teeth falling out for me. The fact that it was so bad that Glover felt the need to say sorry while the fight was still going… I get that there weren’t a ton of obvious places to stop the fight, but it should never have gone that far.

    • @MrDioXIII
      @MrDioXIII 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@sgtking666 He used to, but age seems to have made him incredibly hesitant. With Mazzagatti or Yamasaki you knew they were going to let it go on too late. With Herb, he's all over the place. Sometimes too slow, sometimes too early, other times he should call it but doesn't so he just calls it later when he shouldn't. Some times he's not involved at all with fouls/cheating, other times too involved.
      Worst part about him is his complete refusal to admit that he fucked up. Herzog apologised and admitted fault for the Glover-Smith fight. Not once has Herb Dean ever said that the calls he made are wrong. That is the most dangerous part to me, it's the sign of someone who is unwilling to learn from their mistakes, which might explain why they keep happening now.

    • @RC_Rooster
      @RC_Rooster 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MrDioXIII tbh man i used to think it was just herb being past his prime so to speak, but now I kinda think that herb is just an outdated ref. He doesn't fit in with the way fights are expected to be stopped nowadays with the way fighter safety is now taken more seriously. He hesitates for sure thats that's fact. But I think it's cuz he's not good at stopping it unless the guy is literally out out and getting pounded on, which back in his heyday was just expected before a ref would stop it. I think the sport passed herb, and it's time for him to step down.
      Definitely seems like he's got some nervous energy anytime he's thinking about stopping it, it used to just look natural for him.

    I kind of understand why they did not stop it.. Weidman was undefeated. He stopped Silva's 16 fight win streak. He beat Machida, Belfort, Demian Maia. With wins over legends, they probably thought Weidman would recover from Rockhold's attacks. No such luck.

    Honestly that Bisping call was pretty good. That knee was no doubt brutal n it was a crazy knockdown but you can clearly see him attempt to defend himself from the ground and again look toward the ref like "wtf Is this" so it wasn't like he was knocked out cold. Plus he came back n absolutely dominated round 5, I got no problem with that no-stoppage honestly and most that I've seen say the same except for silva fans tbh.

    Just re-watched the Silva-Bisping knockdown. Mike had his left hand up to defend himself before his right hand hit the canvas, Silva didn't follow up, and as soon as the round ended half a second later, Mike resumed his conversation with Herb about his mouthpiece, so it was reasonable for Herb to think he was still with it IMO.

    Surprised Tony vs Gaethje wasn’t on here. I know they called it eventually but Tony was running around like an injured dog in there

    Bisping VS Silva a detail which wasn't mentioned but should be a added was that the bell rang for the round to be over shortly after the knee so that's also why Anderson was celebrating and Bisping also missed out on getting a cut man to help him since all the craziness with Silva was going on

    the way that Glover would repeatedly crack him, seemingly needing only a few follow up shots to force the finish, and then shoot for a double just looked cruel to me. I'm sure he was following his gameplan but goddamn man, put him out of his misery already

    Particular mentions to Carwin v Lesnar, Bisping v Anderson etc. you can't say they should have been stopped when the 'victims' went on to win. If anything, they were great displays of reffing.

      @trevorrovert3103 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nah, that’s stupid. If a fighter gets knocked out or gnp without intelligently defending themselves, the fights stops. The ref can’t get praise because they made a bad call that turned out to help the person who should’ve lost. If anything, Carwin and Silva were screwed out of wins because of sloppy reffing, and I’m a big Lesnar fan.

    I know it’s been on a ton of other top 10 lists but Cheick Kongo vs Pat Berry should’ve been stopped. One of the wildest finishes

    It's kinda weird that Shevchenko vs Cachoeira isn't on this list. I get that it has been on other lists (but so has several other entries) and is well known but still, almost 10 minutes of unanswered strikes from one of the GOATs of the sport.

    If this video doesn’t have Luke Rockhold adding Weidman’s facial tissue and brain pulp to the canvas logos like some maddened painter and decorator pummelling an apprentice to death during an alcohol-induced paranoiac break from reality (while the completely bewildered Herb ‘if he Deans, he Deans’ looks on apprehensively like a frightened homeowner too afraid to intervene in a deeply personal and unrestrained moment of divine, unwarranted violence between coworkers)... Then this list is gonna be like TRT without the Vitor.
