I've been trying to find out about the physics of the game. It really helps me to understand why the cueball moves as it does. Very informative. Thank you for all your videos. they have been most helpful

First thank you for the vid. My problem is how to line up the entire cue. Should I line up the cue as a straight shot, then just move the tip an leave the rear in place. Or should I shift the entire cue. I'm sure it's a dumb question.

Best descriptive video I’ve ever seen on understanding Q ball movement. Your use of dynamic diagraming is unique and adds a new dimension on how to control the Q ball with different types of shots.

Have a decal on my cue called the Cue Ball Tracker that shows the 30 and 90 degree lines. Shots using center ball or below usually come off the object ball at 90 degrees but was having issues with shooting above center with the cue ball not going on the 30 degree line all the time. After seeing the cue ball paths at the different speeds you used when going above center on the video, now i get it! Great video!

Your vids are excellent. They help appreciate how to play better on our new pool table. The new table was a pact made with my wife in 1987, when we had to sell our Brunswick pool table, because of moving costs (then over $1200. for moving & reassembly). 2020 finally came for the realization of that pact being kept. Keep up the knowledge base for home players, to continue to improve. Thanks.

Congrats to Lori Acton. Not sure why this video has 5 dislikes so far but I guess there are always going to be negative people.
Brilliant video! One part of this video has already helped me realize a problem I had. It was on follow and hitting the ball harder. I have always done that but never ever was able to hit the rail where I wanted. This physics part of this is counter intuitive but is accurate. This will for sure help my game.
Very much appreciate the work that went into this. I make videos for business clients and I know when making a video like this a lot of time and effort goes into it. Very well done.

Pretty good visual description you might mention energy transfer the reason why a cue ball stays on a tangent line longer is how much energy is transferred from one ball to the other ball you have a full ball hit with no Forward rotation or reverse rotation on the Cue ball hundred percent of the energy is transferred from the Cue ball to the object ball when you start to have a cut angle then percentages of energy is transferred from the Cue ball to the object ball some of the energy is not transferred staying with Cue ball.

    Thanks for another great video.
I'm amazed by how much difference there is between US pool and UK pool/snooker because of the ball size.
With the smaller UK balls you really have to go extreme on the screw or top to get anything like these effects and the same goes for running or check side (outside or inside English,as you'd say).
I guess it's due to the extra weight of the balls giving more grip on the cloth and cushions and greater angular momentum.

This video shows that not only is it important to be able to make the shots, but equally important is the ability to control that cueball after making the shot to position it for the next shot. Anybody who follows the methods in this video and practices them will be a much better pool player in a short period of time. Thank you once again Sharivari! All of your videos are awesome!

    • @Sharivari

I have idea for one of your next videos or maybe a couple of videos. You could play some racks of 8/9 ball (like against the ghost, with ball in hand after break), record them and choose the mistakes (missing the shots, bad position, shot not as you visualised etc.). Then try to recreate shots (but of course correctly ;)), and explain where did you make the mistake and how to eliminate that in the future. What about it? Is it a good idea?
PS. Great video, as always :-)

Awesome video. Your graphics are really great. Especially liked the part where three, ghosted versions of you were shown hitting different force or spin variations on the same cut shot so we can see the results simultaneously.

Thanks Doug. Yes, that's one of the simple things of the video editing proccess, but yet so powerful.

I understand controlling the cue ball after its contact with the object ball. I still need to watch more videos like this to understand it better. What would you suggest the next video for me? Thanks a lot.

Great content Sharivari. Can you please make a video where you talk about Skid/Kick and how different angles are affect by kick after contact. Thanks ☺

Thanks for the video. I always enjoy them. Can you do a video on how to determine where the cue ball will hit the rail after hitting the object ball to get position for the next shot, avoid other balls, breaking out clusters or playing a safety? Thanks again.
