The Most Ambitious Deathbattle Ever (Maybe)! Sauron VS The Lich King Analysis | LOTR VS WOW.

  • LET GO, BABY! I am excited. There are a lot of characters that Deathbattle has brought back into the pop culture spotlight or has introduced to people who would have never known about them otherwise. However, never before have they attempted to take on a task as massive as bringing in a character from Lord of the Rings or World of Warcraft. Despite having massive fanbases and telling stories that sprawl over decades, they are not quite as popular in the VS community as you might expect, and for a good reason. These two franchises are absolutely massive, nearly impossible to accurately represent them and their power. Of any character that has ever been in Deathbattle, these two are the ones that need to be done right, simply because of what they stand for.
The respect that I have for Deathbattle for even attempting a massive feat like this has grown a lot and will grow even more if they do it right. However, even then there are a lot of things that need to be addressed and information given. What is the minimum time they must have spent researching? What can does Sauron do? What does the ring do? How high can Sauron scale? How risky is this? Unfortunately I don't know much about the Lich King so I will not talk much about him as I do not want to misrepresent him. So, with that said, lets get into this.

Think they could’ve gone more in depth with the light kings power and what frostmorne(sword) power actually was since it’s a huge counter to most of his opponents and even his complete control of the forsaken

The thing is, some facts from various source materials run along with the same continuity, while others go through separate realities.
Death battle will go with what is considered mainstream, & use facts & information that support that. They don't have to tie in everything. Just what is relevant to the version of the character they're matching up.
The books and the movies might go together, but unless the games are also directly relevant to these also somehow, like an exact mirror of what the movies and books portray, or are directly tied to them be it a sequel, prequel, or something else to add to that universe, then maybe not all information is relevant.
It might be easier to do this then you'd think based on this alone

Tbh Sauron has insane potential as a composite character. Like there’s stuff from BFME, War in the North, the Role Playing Game, the Games Workshop spin-off, Shadow of Mordor + War etc

The problem I that such a attack was purely physical, so of course his spirit survived, the Lich King, yeah, the sword injures the very soul of a person, leaving even scars on the very soul of the people who were then sent to the afterlife, still in pain from the injury the sword caused, also that the Lich King is the only villain to have ever canonically KILLED the heroes, the very same heroes who have not even a patch ago, destroyed a old god, eldritch abominations that have shapped and corrupted the Planet, forming a planet-wide Black Empire, until the Titans came and smashed them down, and these beings are powerful enough to split planets in half, and this is where I need to bring up a second name Illidan Stormrage, the guy who has killed a deity of light and order, a Prime Naaru and is currently 1v1ing Sargeras, the corrupted Titan who shattered planets... the Lich King nearly killed Illidan. And no, Illidan didn't get any power-ups after that, he had already absorbed Gul'dans Skull and become as powerful a Demon Hunter as he could, in fact, he had been killed by those same heroes that the Lich King killed and only recently resurrected. So I think it is gonna be closer then some people think, I think it will come to either Sauron shattering Frostmourne, the source of his power, which required the literal act of god, wielded by a legendary Paladin who wielded a legendary sword to achieve it, so not a easy as you think. Or! The Lich King cuts off the ring from Sauron, destroying his body, leaving him a soul, I can then see Sauron trying to corrupt Lich King, but the Lich King is corrupted by the most powerful of creation magics, domination magic, which stems from a actual god, so I don't see Sauron overpowering that and the Lich King then devouring his soul into Frostmourne, beating him. So a big toss up.
Another thing I heard is that Sauron grows weak in the presence of heroes, not sure how that works, but it also could be a weakness, since the Lich King WAS a hero or the fact that countless souls of heroes reside within Frostmourne that he can call upon at will, so that might be a weakness Sauron has that the Lich King can exploit.
Also, Sauron is never really shown as much of a fighter, only ever fighting as a last resort, sure, he wields his superhuman strength to devastating effect, but against someone who can match the strength we saw in the movie and someone who has more experience in martial combat and is immune to any manipulation he may try, that is also another strength that the Lich King has over Sauron.
