      This is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker, forever:
      You can hear yourself breathing. It comes hard, and harsh, and it scrapes nerves already raw, but you cannot stop it.
      You can never stop it. You cannot even slow it down. You don't even have lungs anymore.
      Mechanisms hardwired into your chest breathe for you. They will pump oxygen into your bloodstream, forever.
      You remember the dragon that you brought Vader forth from your heart to slay. You remember the cold venom in Vader's blood. You remember the furnace of Vader's fury, and the black hatred of seizing her throat to silence her lying mouth-and there is one blazing moment in which you finally understand that there was no dragon. That there was no Vader. That there was only you. Only Anakin Skywalker.
      That it was all you. Is you. Only you.
      You did it. You killed her.
      You killed her because, finally, when you could have saved her, when you could have gone away with her, when you could have been thinking about her, you were only thinking about yourself... it is in this blazing moment that you finally understand the trap of the dark side, the final cruelty of the Sith-because now your self is all you will ever have.
      And you rage and scream and reach through the Force to crush the shadow who has destroyed you, but you are so far less now than what you were, you are more than half machine, you are like a painter who has gone blind, a composer gone deaf, you can remember where the power was but the power you can touch is only a memory, and so with all your world-destroying fury it is only droids around you that implode, and equipment, and the table on which you were strapped shatters, and in the end, you cannot touch the shadow.
      In the end, you do not even want to. In the end, the shadow is all you have left. Because the shadow understands you, the shadow forgives you, the shadow gathers you unto itself-and within your furnace heart, you burn in your own flame.
      This is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker, forever.
      From the Revenge of the Sith novelization. Quoted on TV Tropes.

    Revenge of the sith is my all time FAV of the Star Wars film history, love this film so much. The cue when the Death Star is shown being constructed and the music comes dark, dramatic and powerful.. gives me goosebumps every time. Darth Vader and the emperor looking out at the construction and the empire theme is heard, brilliant moment. Rise of the empire is my fav track of the ost, I think that scene where it plays was my 2nd fav scene in the film.

    This is without a doubt the best piece of music from star wars.
    Like if you've only seen the first 2 films of the prequel trilogy you can very likely guess what's going on in this scene just by the music.
    We start with the funeral theme from episode one, which tells us there's a funeral and / or death. But who's death? Then we have across the stars which tells us anakin and padme have died. Then the question is, how did they die? Then we get the imperial march. Vader killed them. But anakin is still in there somewhere? No, we get the funeral theme playing w the March. Vader has killed anakin. It's only darkness now

    this track is very reminiscent of how anakin feels when he sees that he risked everything just to try to save padme and her children, but in the end it conveys the feeling of acceptance of the dark side and the glimpse of the birth of the new galactic empire

  • @coruscant100
    @coruscant100 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What I love about this sequence is that there's no dialogue at all because there's no need for it. The scenes and music tell us everything we know. The galaxy has entered a dark age now. The Republic and Jedi Order are gone. The Clone Army has been turned to Stormtroopers and are being phased out by human recruits. Anakin Skywalker is gone and in place is Darth Vader who willingly serves Palpatine since he's all that's left now with Padme gone. All the while Palpatine smiles in triumph as he's managed to achieve all his goals from turning Anakin to the Dark Side to gaining total power over the galaxy. This music simply put tells us, "The Dark Side has won, and the future for the galaxy is bleak."
