Congrats BYU and McKay! Nice to hear a young person not ashamed of his faith and its part in his life.

Madsen is a fantastic pickup for BYU. Hope he plays RB. Can’t wait to see him in the field. But first things first - a mission for the Lord.

So glad to get this young man to BYU. Enjoyed the interview. McKay, if you read this- enjoy your mission! It will be the best, but probably the hardest two years of your life- but it will make you a better person if you commit 100% to it; which from your interview, I have little doubt that you will. Then Cougar Nation will look forward to seeing you on the gridiron in BYU Blue!
As a side note- one of my roommates at BYU back in 1991-1992 played starting defensive tackle for the Cougars, (RIP Bud Orr), but the one thing he told me is that he wanted to serve a mission, but instead he became a father to a beautiful baby girl, and that was his greatest accomplishment and legacy. May God bless you with peace & safety.

It's not the hardest 2 years🥸The hardest thing is being turned away when you want to serve...I was honorably released from serving because at the time the church had raised the restrictions to the point where anyone that took medications was given a release🤓 I heard that the church has made the restrictions less strict now but it was such a painful thing and it is something that you NEVER recover from

McKay's Dad played Free Safety for Stanford in the mid-90s, kind of surprised Stanford wasn't a player for him. Glad he committed to BYU.

Nice to hear him give credit to God for coming to his sense of certainty.

Putting God first and letting the spirit guide, what better culture would you want for your kids to join and develop in? It’s young men like this that make me a proud BYU fan. Praise be to God and our savior Jesus Christ, in whom I’m forever grateful.

I forgot to mention, he's also proud to serve the Lord, SELFLESSLY serving a Church mission!!! How outstanding is that?!?!? For those unfamiliar with the process, young men and women can choose to serve a Church mission on their OWN DIME, UNPAID anywhere in the world Heavenly Father deems right for them. This says almost everything you need to know about McKay's character. So proud of this kid!!!

I would hope McKay includes some sprints (100/200yd/m) with the throws in track. My little brother was good in football AND baseball but gave up his baseball in the spring to run track. His speed picked up amazingly and it really made him the star he was in both high school and college. Maybe he can sprint house to house while tracting on his mission! ;)

Who was the guy from Utah State that played RB/LB two-way and basically beat the Y single-handed? About ten years ago. Total stud. It’d be interesting to see if McKay can do it too! So glad to have him!!

@@samuelrussell5760 Agreed. Hunter had half their receiving yards and a touchdown, and was as solid as anyone on Colorado's defense. (Which isn't a high bar.)

So speaking of Stanford,is he related at all to Mark Madsen who played basketball there? I was just wondering out of curiosity. I would assume that he will play running back, did I read into that right? College football needs more young men like this who give credit to God first and prioritize the things that are important. He will learn a lot in 2 years and come back a changed person,I know that I did,and I am also no longer as shy as I used to be. I am willing to admit that BYU might be one of maybe 4 or 5 teams in 2025 that could compete for a conference title but we will see.

In this world of "me FIRST", entitled, diva-like star athletes and their SELFISHNESS, it's not only refreshing, but astounding and gratifying to actually hear a kid unashamedly profess his faith and state that he's following the Holy Ghost after PRAYER to Heavenly Father!!!
This one got me choked up. I commend McKay and his parents for raising a Christ-like, humble Child of God!!! Our world would be so much better if half the kids had McKay's humility. Awesome gain, Cougs!!!

@marksuwanneeronniefelt1230 and why is that they should have been in college football playoffs look what Arizona St did and BYU should have beat bad no call by refs. And going to be even better next year also basketball oh boy top 5 team easily we got 2 of the top 5 and number 1 AJ on our team I smell championship in both
