- BYU football has experienced significant success in bolstering their roster through strategic utilization of the NCAA Transfer Portal. This approach has yielded several key benefits. Firstly, the portal allows BYU to address immediate needs and fill specific position gaps quickly and efficiently. By identifying and acquiring talented players from other programs, BYU can seamlessly integrate them into their system and enhance their overall depth and competitiveness. Secondly, the transfer portal provides access to experienced players who can make an immediate impact.
These seasoned veterans bring valuable playing experience, leadership qualities, and a proven track record of success to the program. Finally, the transfer portal enables BYU to compete more effectively with other Power 5 programs in recruiting top talent. By leveraging this avenue, BYU can attract high-caliber players who may not have been available through traditional recruiting channels, ultimately elevating the program's overall talent level.
The BYU basketball team has faced challenges following their demoralizing loss to the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The defeat exposed several weaknesses, including inconsistent shooting, defensive lapses, and struggles to rebound effectively. These issues have continued to plague the Cougars, leading to a series of disappointing results.
To get back into the win column after two consecutive losses, BYU basketball needs to rediscover its offensive rhythm. Consistent shooting from beyond the arc, efficient ball movement, and timely offensive rebounds are crucial. On the defensive end, the Cougars must improve their communication and intensity, limiting opponents' scoring opportunities. Additionally, regaining confidence and playing with a sense of urgency will be vital for the team to overcome this current slump.

The thing about the basketball team is interesting. WE forget that it takes time for the team chemistry to actually arrive and stay. The team will be good and ready for the conference tournement. We must have patience and let it all take its course.
I agree patience is required here. However, more so for the coaching staff rather than team chemistry. First year coaching in the big 12 is not an easy process.
Great job on this podcast Jake.....as always, the best info for BYU sports
Caleb Etienne is the most unlikely to stay but the one I want the most to stay.
If Demin can get his shot back BYU wins this game, and a lot more.
When did he have his shot to begin with? Check out his season field goal percentage. Hes never found his shot. He’s not a top 5 pick. I really like Demin but he’s also struggling with the physicality with the Big12
Switching to Mag from Bosk has impacted BYUs rebounding and interior physicality. I thought Bosk paired well with Traore from a size standpoint. I think Mags minutes need to come from elsewhere.
Also not a fan of pulling Catchings for defensive possessions, love his close outs and his length on the perimeter.
With Egor Demin, we need to expect him to get back into his groove. It's time for him to step up and be the guy we were promised.

BYU basketball team start is concerning. Disappointing to everyone.
It's disappointing yes but I also think patience is needed. It's an entirely new coaching staff (with a first time HC) that's trying to install a whole new identity. There were always going to be growing pains this year. BYU will be better next year when they have collective experience under the belt.
There are a lot of new players with different skill sets. Give them some time to get and figure it out. I'm betting while they're struggling now they will get much better by the end of the season.
