As was said on Sports Nation yesterday, “this team will rise and fall as Jake does.” Jake has to improve!! He has many strengths but he has noticeable weakness. I hope he’s humble and hungry and working hard in the off season. He needs to reform his throwing motion and release and decision making. Can’t have some of the turnovers like the pick in the end zone vs Kansas. Huge credit to him for playing injured but his injury had nothing to do with that short throw to the TE. Final ranking should not be higher and likely top 25 ranking isnt going to create the same “disrespect motivation” as last year.
SMU and Indiana should NOT be ranked ahead of them. In my book they should be ranked 11. I will also die on hill when I say that BYU would have beaten ASU on a neutral site (Big 12 championship game) last year.
My greatest concern about BYU's PLAY this season was - at the beginning oof the season, the choice for starting QB was made hours before the 1st game. It was REALLY close. And Jake was doing a really good job and improved. While Gerry Bohannon sat bench. Then, in late October, mistakes were being made and Jake was playing hurt. And Gerry, who was THAT CLOSE to being the starter to begin the year, sat bench. We saw in Jake, after a long rest, come back for the bowl game healthy, with both the good and the bad - and saw Gerry for 2 plays, and saw the God and the bad - and both plays were a 2 QB setup.
I agree it's fun to win in the exciting ways that BYU does sometimes but it would be so nice to have them be a team who you know can make that drive when they need to and handle their business and especially beat the teams they got to beat
I agree. You can add that whether you have all your starters or not you have to prepare every week differently because each team requires different tactics
Please open the checkbook for Caleb and Darius. There are very few humans on this planet with the size and strength of Caleb. Now that he is improving so much he will be worth a big NIL deal.
@@RickMeeves One thing we noticed attending the Alamo Bowl was Sanders ability to stop set his feet after running. That really made him more accurate and such a threat to turn the game around. Luckily he only did that a few times. Jake is unable to do that. It makes his balls hard to catch when he scrambles. That might be why Darius drops some of his passes. Also it was great to see Caleb swat away Colorado players like flies. He was often twice their size. Please please please get Caleb back.
Jake Retzlaff has to be better than year previous. Granted he had more touchdowns than interceptions. I believe that he needs to have a three to one situation. We will see.
@@quantum_beeb Bama? The Bama that lost 4 games? The same bama that failed to score a touchdown against Oklahoma? The same bama that turned the ball over 4 times in the 1st quarter? Yeah, sure dude
BYU will never get national respect. There is a national Bias against the religious affiliation that will always exist. It was evident when they won the national championship and is evident today with the final rankings as well as the ignorance of all good players in the 100 top players list. So, all they can do is have a winning season, play exciting football and find good agents for each player who wants to play in the NFL. Just Like Puka and Taysom, BYU players can be great NFL players fegarless of the bias that exists.
No Jake. I dismiss the narrative that we are under ranked. Our defense is top five but the media is ranking us low because of our offensive inconsistency.
BYU lost some respect because the media saw what I saw. BYU barely squeaked out wins several times. The offense was often anemic and the qb inconsistent.
I was fine with the 13th ranking. I was not fine with being ranked behind SMU.
I wasn't fine with the Y being ranked behind Indiana. That team was a joke.

Can you keep us posted on INL signings Maybe a show on all new players
If BYU wants respect, they need to win. An L to a great ASU team in a close game is excusable, but an L vs Kansas at home is not.
What about Utah ? Kansas state? SMU ? Colorado?

Um, i guess 11‐2 means nothing to you...
Coming in at 13th proves BYU should have been given consideration in the CFP conversation.
ESPN ranked BYU 9th in their first preseason poll.

Yes for Caleb. Meh for Darius. Too many dropped balls. He has so much talent but mentally has to improve. Too many drops!!

BYU should have been ranked 11 at a minimum at the end....
Ain’t no way that team should be ranked higher than bama. And I’m an Ohio state fan.
@quantum_beeb LMAO... Bama? This year? Thanks for the gut laugh....

Not being in the tourney is good for yall. Especially compared to smu getting bodied by penn state. Yall avoided that.
Look what az st did. BYU lost a close away game to them but they’re still better than ASU.
Not so fast my friend.

Oh stop with the whining! We need to win a BIG XII title to earn a seat at the table.

100 percent! Great comment.

You saw how our offense played in the bowl game Jake. How they played all year long.
