What happens with a heavier or lighter golf shaft?
Isolating the single components is a good way to really test what the difference is
High launch and low spin
Low launch and high spin
I've always gone for lighter shafts to increase spin but it's not always the case... Literally every aspect of this build is the same apart from the shaft and the data is a reflection of how this works for me.
Everyone is different so always go and get fitted and see for yourself how shafts work with your individual swing.

Mizuno's fitting tool put me in the S300 120gram shaft with a Mizuno -1 flatter lie. My 6-iron carry is 187 for a 28-degree head. For my last iron, a 24-degree 5-iron (4-iron blade loft), I made the decision to switch to a SteelFiber i110gram shaft - it helps me on every launch variable and it hits my 200-yard carry - it's a somewhat crazy feel transition between clubs, but I've gotten used to it and it works.
Aha nice find! Great shafts and could be because they aren't on the Mizuno shaft offering from memory that they didnt pick up as an option (I've not fitted using the DNA for a few years 🤓😇)

I'm really interested in this subject from a personal point.
I am trying draw parallels with my own dilemna. You're video is about the S300 versions of the R300 versions I've been trying to figure out.
I don't have access to a DG R300 trial cart shaft, (one with an interchangeable fitting).
The DG 105 R300, (which is actually a VSS Pro OEM version of the 105), is interchangeable and the head I'm using is a Taylormade P770 7 iron.
The only access to a DG R300 I have is the one fitted in my own 7 iron which is a Titleist AP2 712.
So you can see straightaway I have a couple of variables in there that prevent me from making an accurate assessment/comparison of the two shafts.
I've lost a bit of distance over the last few years, (around 10 yards or so), which reflects through the set, (3-PW). I don't want a new set of irons, the AP2s are in mint condition and I love them, so I was looking toward a lighter shaft with a view to regaining some of my lost length.
I'm in my mid-60s now and have played as low as 3. I've broken par at several courses in my time so I've reached a decent standard where I am hoping a little tweaking might help. I've obviously slowed down a bit, but I still have a good swing though not as powerful as it was.
What do you think.
Having compared the stiffer versions of the same shafts, what would your conclusions be?

@@FredzGolf You just need to dial down on the audio music, get it to -10 db in your audio editing software. Never raise your original vocal in the edit! It will break the volume!
@Ivan Wong yeah, I've stopped using music altogether now 🙈 ...had first test of the DJI Mic today but not used it on any released vids just yet

I've done a few reshafts on the AP2 irons to good effect ....recently the Steelfibre i95
I have found that the lofts of the AP2 hold them back in comparison to modern lofted alternatives for that final added punch
One thing I would say in regards to strategy at that standard of golf... the dispersion is more important than the yardage

Between the modus 105 and DG 105 which did you prefer? Any differences ? Thanks!
Tough one as I havn't had them toe to toe at the same time... Instinct if I was ordering a set and only had that choice, I'd say Modus 105 but I have used them more as they are a stock option in the Srixon. I have a demo set of ZX5 irons with the Modus 105 and tend to use the 3/4 iron in them if i'm borrowing my own demo clubs to play :)
@@FredzGolf fair to say the modus 105 sriff is stiffer than the dg 105 sriff? I hit both the other day and the 105 sriff felt harsher to me. DG had more of a kick. Modus 105 sriff felt more like an x stiff to me. Thoughts ?
@@BuffaloBarber24 Yes you're completely right in my opinion... Modus 3 much harder than the equivalent Dynamic Gold shaft. Modus designed for a more aggressive load, probably why the 105 worked well for me when I prefer the 120 in a dynamic gold generally speaking

Yeah I've stopped using music for a while now, caused a lot of issues lol
So basically, instead of watching all these guys hit balls in a bunch of these shaft test videos for 30 minutes, you could say that lighter weight steel shafts will twist from torque more at impact, just like cheaper graphite shafts do. And the gain in head speed from the lighter shaft, for most iron shots is insignificant?
I had more ball speed from the heavier shaft which is something that happens for me, different launch angles, different spin rates and different carry ....by and large the shaft will do what the individuals swing puts to it ....If someone is looking at a fitting and one is faster, one is better spin relative to their tendencies and all the data feeds towards ideal data then one is a better choice than the other
If you already have a set of shafts and aren't looking at new clubs then there's not much point in changing the shafts at a massive cost if the data points aren't massively different
More just getting the best option for the golfer in the purchasing phase even to eek every 1% gain they can
