Love the word "assertive" to describe the swing you are suggesting. Mid-summer I fell into the "lazy" swing habit, and my game fell apart. Was clubbing up and swinging easy, and missing greens. Really appreciate this video, am on the same path! Great encouragement!
Keep up the good work! Onwards and Upwards :) ...Yes clubbing up is poisonous for 8/10 golfers! (IMO)
"Alexa, show me poetry"
Hahahaha ...I've used it twice in different ways :)
Freddie, the video you made with about accelerating earlier in the downswing really helped me control my drives! Imagine that feel combined with sternum set point will work together to create a repeatable draw shape? Thanks for really helpful videos!
@johnj5177 ABSOLUTELY!!! Great combination ...and the sternum helps to place the speed nice and early 👍 They work together beautifully 😍
Mid-capper here, been playing the 90 gram version all season and absolutely love them. I don't like to swing my wedge shafts particularly hard, I just want smooth contact to get my desired yardages. I paired these shafts with forged Edison 2.0 wedge heads and they are a match made in heaven. By the end of the season I was sticking so many greens from a 110 yards and in, definitely playing below my handicap in terms of results. I love the kick point and the feel it generates gives me a a tonne of confidence in my swing tempo. I will never ever go back to steel again. While the shafts are pricey so is everything that's good in golf. However, when my wedge grooves wear out, I will happily re-use this shaft and put a fresh head on it. One reason I'm digging the lighter shaft weight is because it just tells me my brain that I can swing easy and I don't feel the temptation to power a typical heavy steel shaft that's usually around 130 grams. With my 50 degree on a breezy 3/4 swing, I easily get the 110 yards I want from this shaft (and it blends well with my KBS tour 90 iron shafts). I'm sure I could hit my 50* further with this shaft as it feels like it will stay stable, but I would just club down to my set PW outside 110 and do a partial shot. Where these BGT shafts really shine is in feel and tempo for partial wedge swings and chips. They destroy steel wedge shafts in this area, which just feel clunky by comparison. Great review, thanks from Canada!
@jbweezer Awesome!!! And great feedback 👍....Yeah I bet they feel delightful with the Edison heads 😍 those things rock!
They sure do!!!
I got to try this.
Let me know how you go!
Freddy I tried it. I need some work with it. I was a foot back kinda guy. Now I try it your way I did draw it but a little too much. Certainly works for sure! I want to work on how to get more club head speed. I can get it up to 108 max! 1 in 100 swings. Normal speed is average 100 but I feel I am putting in far too much effort. I see you guys hit 280 drives and it looks absolutely effortless. How!!! Do you have a video on this? If so I have to find it. Gonna follow you for this winter and train on your advice on my golf sim. Pick one guy and listen to what you suggest. :).
@@unclejohn37 Try This one :) It links well with the sternum idea...I just didn't have the sternum idea when I did this! th-cam.com/video/tPMgl_p-E0M/w-d-xo.html
Good video, thanks Freddie. I've been re-gripping clubs for years always spiral wrapping. When you spiral wrapped with narrow tape, I noticed there was a tape-width gap as you worked up the shaft. Q1- is this standard practice to have a gap? Q2 - for a double layer of tape would you wrap in the opposite direction? Thanks, John.
Ooh ....with double wraps I do try and avoid the narrow tape ....however, Of I only had narrow tape... I try and get the gap as small as possible on both layers and yes go the opposite 😀 If you have a big gap doing that, there's a chance of flat spots 😮
Amazing to see what £300+ does to your driver. Sadly out of my budget. When for a fitting with Tom Wishon shafts, using it's swing to swing match system. Loved the video, might have to reconsider my options 🤔.
There's a lot of choice out there ay :)
How about BGT Brava v Vanquish v Graphite Design aG33-3, is it true most of this type of shaft are designed to play at 46", if so what would they be like at 44.75" or in that range?
I only have 1 out of 3 of those shafts! :- Not that I've heard directly but that does make sense ...They're designed to bend more to generate more speed and that is increased when played at a longer length Shorten a shaft and it plays stiffer - I'd say neither way is a bad way, depends what a golfer is used to ...I don't go over 45" that often at all but some may need a longer and lighter shaft to get the top speeds up!
Freddie, are you using a X stiff or Stiff flex.
@@steveaustrie8359 Stiff in that video! I have an X in the Brava Tour that I'll be testing soon :)
30 going down smoothly 😄
Smoothly! Keep at it :)
Have this BGT shaft paired with the GT3 and it’s that optimal combination of max distance, very tight dispersion and easy swing tempo.
@ricksc7964 Love That!!!
Brilliant as always
Thank You Indeed :)
I like the forgiveness of the 300 but I prefer less offset like the 200......hmmm
Oooh tough call... have you hit them both?
@@FredzGolf Yes! I like the soft feel of a cavity back and the tthe forgiveness of the 300, but I do NOT like all the offset on the longer irons.
@@hcharton5722 did you see this? th-cam.com/video/1Etj4qsB-4M/w-d-xo.html

Thank you for having me mate. I know I don't bring the technical knowhow your viewers deserve but I would say... this shaft gave me so much speed, distance but remained consistent. I couldn't wait to hit it again... Blown away! Thank you!
That's good though eh ...You ask questions I don't think need answering ...It helps the viewer!
I’ve had a few golf lessons from different pros and compared it to GOLFTEC. They all help me tremendously, but have access to golf monitor data at GOLFTEC help me the most. Seeing your path and club face data helped me fix my ball striking.
What about Roll Out????? I literally have a Demo Set sitting by me right now that I'm to hit when I leave work today of the APEX 21 from my APEX 16's & they are offering a discount stating many people can't hit the C 130X due to lack a speed. I don't think I'll have that issue having 320+ yards drives per round & normally a high ball flight. I don't need a 7-5 rolling out like a 1 iron though & pray they have some stopping power. 🙄
Have you hit those shafts before? With a 320 Drive, theres plenty of energy in the shot ...looking at what you're saying, I don't think rollout will be an issue ...I'd be looking at your choice in ball more
@FredzGolf Just getting off work heading out now. I will definitely report back. I play the Chrome x ball
@@UnLikeU I think you'll have no trouble with stop on the greens with that shaft and ball combo :)
@FredzGolf Man "I'm in LOVE..❤️❤️❤️" I'm banging the C Taper 130 X Shafts. Sold!! Thanks for this review for me to even try. The clerk at the Golf Store was persuading me not to buy them. @UnLikeU Niiiiiice ...yeah man gotta hit these things to see for yourself I had a guy that got "fitted" for a driver and they wouldn't even let him try a stiff shaft because of his swing speed ....I dropped one in and he woke up his speed and gained 30 yards 🤣 They lost out haha 😄

Besides the disposable income requirement, what about player ability? Does it suit every handicap or do you recommend it for specific players?
Yet to be fully determined ...I'd say it's a very "easy" shaft to use ...There's a 115g and a 130g ...I'll see if I can rope in a higher handicapper to have a go!
Axiom
Numbers?
I did a comparison against another driver ...The edit is a bit back on my to-do list atm though, will see how my week goes :)
I love my axiom shaft I put in my 2i driving iron. I can hit it anywhere in the face and it has a tight dispersion
Niiiiice ....Mine Too!!
They are the same shaft. This is reverse placebo effect...or....the expensive one is just slightly softer, not for any reason, it suits your tempo better. Another player may prefer the back one. This is the problem. I build clubs as a hobby and I can make 2 identical shafts and they behave exactly as your video shows. The aftermarket may also be spine aligned in a way your tempo prefers ( although the days of spine aligning is fading )
@CaribSurfKing1 I build clubs for a living, I did a test, I showed the results 👌 Ooh ooh I actually do swear by spine aligning, I spine every shaft I build [unless customer doesn't like to see the writing]
Yeah do it😂
In the ol' pipeline :)
Would like to see the difference compared to axiom. Thanks for the video 👍🏽
@josephdavis8672 Nice! A few requests already! I'll have to move it up on my ideas whiteboard haha
good concepts. Thanks Freddie Mercury! ; )
Hahaha ...Thank You!
Axiom video us Boss. Could you talk about if the BGT feels significantly heavier compared to the Axiom? Also if possible give it a whack in a longer iron? Bryson plays wedge flex in all his irons if I'm not mistaken. Would be interesting to see the results!
Hmmmm I didn't know that about his shafts!! Although if he's using "one length", makes sense to have the same shafts through the lot 🤔
This is going to get expensive 😂😂😂😂
Hahahah My Bad :P
Comparison between that and axiom would be interesting
@rogerjackson3406 On it ..might do a bit of a mixture 🙃
I would love to try those shafts. Do a comparison between those two shafts please.
@@jonathanstephens3839 will wprk ot in this week ...Wedge shafts often get neglected!
Oh my , compress the ball but do not hit fat …. I can smash the ball off of a range mat and get very little bother if i catch it fat , in fact it feels nice if i get all the ball on the face , however if i take this to the course , the soft claggy course and get even i little fat im stuffed , i can get great shots out of fairway bunkers or great shots hitting down ( sometimes a bit thin ) but im going forwards more than a clublength … Im working on it but its not easy is it in autumn ..

Just a tad worried about the 2-piece construction. I remember some of my fitter friends had clients who snapped the previous Green version.

Yep and Takomo could give you all them same chouses as Mizuno.. Then the Price would be the same it's called common sense.. The point being .. You get a great club at a great price to hit it in the water and wood.. then paying high price and still hit it in the water and the woods..

You're most welcome! ...and Thank You for commenting ..comments help the channel a lot :)
have you seen how far a half swing can go?
Everyone's feel for a half swing will differ, I like to have a limiter [like feet together] and still commit to the shot
@@FredzGolf yea, what feels like a half swing to me is really a 3/4 swing in reality but still goes pretty far with more accuracy as well.
@ryze9153 Nice ..I have 3 swings that I routinely practice, measure and rewrite ...they give me 3 numbers ..4 swings If I put the time in (this all started with full swing only and write down an average) And then soon, I will have 4 wedges 😜 12-16 yardages, rehearsed and written down Buy that's taken 2 years to perfect 🤣
@@FredzGolf 3/4 swing is the way to go unless it's the driver. Feels good. Good luck to you as well.
I try something similar to this, and my face stays consistently open. When I try and swing “hard” I just spin out of it and the path goes outside to in. My normal path is about 3-4 degrees inside, and my club face tends to be about 3-5 degrees open at the same time. I currently cannot hit a real draw with driver (a ball that starts right of the target line and comes right to left across the line), but can with EVERY other club. The best I can do with Driver is 1-3 degrees inside club path with < 1 degree of open face, but they usually start a couple yards left. I can hit my 3+ Callaway Paradym 275-310, and before I broke my driver swing I was hitting 305-340. Now my very best ball with driver will hit 320, but 5/10 will be off the hole. I suspect that when my irons got better this year, that my swing changed, and it somehow boiled over to my driver swing and broke it. I’m wondering if the shaft I have is no longer right for the swing or something. Should I just trash my driver and hit 3 wood? I’m going to try this, but do you have any other suggestions?
Interesting you can draw every club apart from the driver, I see this all the time ...largely comes from that extra bit of exertion throwing the sternum in to varying places swing to swing [from my own findings as a coach - this is different for each golfer but the fundamental awareness and control of the sternum is where I build speed from] Lots going on in the info there but I do like to solve puzzles - Yes if your irons have improved and you maintain the same swing with a Driver, often only 2/3 areas of the bag will work at any given time I have a Wedge swing, Iron swing and a Driver swing - They all have the same movements but from a different sternum placement - I'll do a video on this blend as a lot of people will benefit
@@FredzGolf The day after I watched this, I took my 5 iron out of the bag, and put my 3 Wood back in. I shot 75, without using driver, and with a double that had nothing to do with clubs, and everything to do with course condition (muddy, sloshy fairway). I even had a 3W-5W combo Eagle 🦅. If I could hit 50% fairways with Driver I could be pretty good. Another trippy thing is that the 3W is like 10-15 yards shy of driver, and doesn’t go as high as Driver, even though my driver loft is at an 8 degree and the 3W is at 12.5. I don’t know what to make of that. I should also mention that I use JumboMax size Large grips on all clubs. I know this has an auto-blocking tendency, and I’m wondering if my shaft-swing change combo just can’t get the head around with 112+ club speed.
