The idea of NOT hiding the "break". Opening the idea of broken to something better. Is the term you used for the Chinese/Japanese rapairs to pottery and the like ( not sure of the origin ). Looks exactly right. Don't hide "mistakes". Own them, and show how you learned from them. Love it. It's funny. A wood and faux glass pot actually can inspire. THAT is why this is great work. I agree that it is gorgeous, and had I the tools, I would consider trying something similar inspired by this video, but I happen to love how tree roots look in their natural form as well and have a bunch of them decorating my cabin in the forest, both inside and outside :D All from trees that died on their own, or at least without me playing an active part in their death. Just like how I have a few decorative animal skulls from animals I didn't kill, since I don't kill any living being knowingly. Whoa. This video brings to mind a story I read many years ago about a sculptor (Michelangelo, Rodin?) who could “see” a creation inside a block of stone before he ever even picked up the chisel. How you envisioned the vase emerging from that gnarled root ball is beyond my imagination. The whole process is an exercise in patience, creativity, and personal fortitude. Kudos.
Michelangelo - the sculpture is always in the stone all he did was remove what’s not needed. He also did the back of sculptures that would never be seen by Joe Public.. when asked why …. ‘because he would know ‘ …
It was wonderful to see your technical expertise combined with your artistic vision. I like the fact that the final piece felt so organic and wasn't overpowered by space age materials.
Stunning piece of art. I had no idea something like this was so labor-intensive. I will be much more appreciative of the time and labor artists put into their work from now on.
This is a really lovely thing. I'm a maintenance gardener, i'm chucking away unwanted shrubs like this all the time, big shame. Great to see one made into art
I so appreciate you posting the details of both what did and didn’t work instead of just the successes, makes watching you work both a more in-depth and enjoyable learning experience!
Wow David this is all so impressive!! Your vision in seeing the vase… all the process of creating it.. and the amazing video/documentation of it all ! Well done ❤
The patience you have in creating this beautiful piece. My dad had a lathe and as a child I did not appreciate what he might have been feeling as he worked at it. He’s gone now, abd I think back on things he did that were just him. Woodworking, photography, grilling. He wasn’t just a breadwinner, there were things that filled his soul.
Please show us the final piece in it's final show room or at least in a draped box that only shows the art work w/o machinery as a background. Was your vision for this piece to be a vase, a lamp base or just a sculpture alone? The process was amazing. Thanks for sharing it!

The piece is beautiful and your comments about your "learning curve" were enlightening (and honest). I could not bring myself to stop watching. I hope you are proud of your work. P.S. It was good to learn that you had replacements and advice from the companies from whom you had purchased items.
That was very interesting, it turned out very nice, you must have quite the imagination, because it took me a while to figure out where he was going with it. 😊
Looks like tremendous amount of patience and time put into this piece. Interesting how you "cored" it out, a lot of precision work. I like the wood grains and accents coming thru the glass.
So many times I have seen you create something so stunningly beautiful that the rest of us poor mortals just scoff and say, ‘It can’t be done!’ You then calmly and methodically proceed to do just that. This one however is beyond the pale. The hardships along the way merely provided opportunities to further gild the lily. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us YTers who love to watch your skills grow.
No way to compare my work with this piece of art but I know the feeling when working with this kind of wood with my primitive tools. I never use resins but I rarely know the final result which comes oon the way. So dangerous when working on irregular wood trying to hollow it. (Both for my hands and the wood). Videos of this kind provides inspiration. Thanks
Such a dangerous piece of wood to carve, I am so curious about the 4 different colors of resin in the beginning and the final color. It’s also amazing that you used three different brands of resin in the whole project. I am mesmerized!😮
I could not stop watching! Partly in awe, partly in terror of what came next. Your skill and patience is amazing and the result is a beautiful piece of art that could never be reproduced.

Thats what I love about art, just gotta trust the process♡

this randomly popped up on my feed and i had no idea what i was getting into when i clicked.. but WOW! that was so cool hahahha, thanks David! keep spreading your light and gifts my friend ✌💙
Thanks!
Incredible skill with that lathe. Watching that spin was downright scary. What an amazing one of a kind piece of art!
‘because he would know ‘ …
Michelangelo. Please check this with the I PRIGIONI on internet:)
А может он эту вазу и не представлял. Просто делал. Такая получилась. Импровизировал.
It was wonderful to see your technical expertise combined with your artistic vision. I like the fact that the final piece felt so organic and wasn't overpowered by space age materials.
Wow! There is a lot going on with this work of art and beauty. I could just watch it spin and spin. Thank you for your creativity skill.
I could watch this forever, such amazing problem solving and craftsmanship
I admire you not only for your creativity but also for your persistence. Great piece of art wood and resin.
Thank you very much!
Stunning piece of art. I had no idea something like this was so labor-intensive. I will be much more appreciative of the time and labor artists put into their work from now on.
Thanks 🤌👊
Off the charts, Brother. Beast. Beast mode. Epic. Pure Chrystalline, Complete. My sincerest compliments. @@DavidAdamsen
This is a really lovely thing. I'm a maintenance gardener, i'm chucking away unwanted shrubs like this all the time, big shame. Great to see one made into art
Well thank you. Shrubs like this often have a lot of junk stuck in them, so I learned why no one does this.
@DavidAdamsen lol it's true it's a problem I face too actually
If I had not watched this video - I WOULD BE TOTALLY CLUELESS as to how much work and planning and skill was involved with this piece! STUNNING!
I so appreciate you posting the details of both what did and didn’t work instead of just the successes, makes watching you work both a more in-depth and enjoyable learning experience!
The video was amazing. The visual and auditory experience was as creative and interesting as the object you created!!

Wow David this is all so impressive!! Your vision in seeing the vase… all the process of creating it.. and the amazing video/documentation of it all ! Well done ❤
Thanks so much!
He sounds like a wonderful father.
Please show us the final piece in it's final show room or at least in a draped box that only shows the art work w/o machinery as a background. Was your vision for this piece to be a vase, a lamp base or just a sculpture alone? The process was amazing. Thanks for sharing it!
I clicked on this video just meaning to run it ahead to see the end result. Instead, I was so fascinated I watched it all the way through, twice. Beautiful and fascinating.
Exactly! Me too!!
Same here

See, people come together over beauty.
Это реально крутая работа. Я впервые вижу чтоб кто-то делал что-то подобное. Я восхищен вашим мастерством, это потрясающая работа.
Hey I just came across your channel. I live in maine too. This is the first video i ever saw as of now. You do absolutely beautiful work. I went in totally blind. Not reading the description, channel or comments so i wasnt sure wth u were doin at first. Im glad i stuck around lol. Just beautiful. Now I'll go binge!!
Thanks so much!
@@DavidAdamsen you are so welcome. Honestly I'm thinking about getting one of your beautiful creations. 💓
The piece is beautiful and your comments about your "learning curve" were enlightening (and honest). I could not bring myself to stop watching. I hope you are proud of your work. P.S. It was good to learn that you had replacements and advice from the companies from whom you had purchased items.
Thank you very much!
Beautifully crafted exquisite piece
This was utterly captivating and the finished piece is gorgeous!
This is straight to the point
All I can say about this gorgeous piece of art is: stunningly beautiful. Thanks for sharing your talent with us!
This helped me appreciate how much hard work goes into art. No wonder it can be so valuable!
This is a prime example of craftmanship, skill and talent plus extremely creative wood turning I have ever seen. Absolutely BRILLIANT!!!!
Wow, thank you, George!
I really enjoy your poetic manner of speaking. Perhaps you are also an artist given the way you use words?
@@iamV10010 at first I read "pathetic" instead of "poetic", i had to re read that just to make sure I wasn't crazy. Turns out I can't read
Thanks
@@iamV10010 going by their name and the use of “beyond the pale” I suspect they may be Irish. And sure we are all poets dontcha know
Such a dangerous piece of wood to carve, I am so curious about the 4 different colors of resin in the beginning and the final color. It’s also amazing that you used three different brands of resin in the whole project. I am mesmerized!😮
I could not stop watching! Partly in awe, partly in terror of what came next. Your skill and patience is amazing and the result is a beautiful piece of art that could never be reproduced.
Thank Ir
I think it could be reproduced.
I have NEVER seen anything like the finished piece!! What an amazing piece of art! I’m glad I watched the whole video. You are very talented, sir.
Your a master, this is a one of a kind masterpiece, BRAVO.
Thank you!
I love the kintsugi effect joining the split seam of the epoxy resin and the tree bark. The piece was definitely worth saving. Beautiful work.
Thank you!
Honestly the most gut wrenching turn video I've ever seen... I was just hoping the entire time it didn't break. Beautiful job!
I don't know how I found this video but I am thoroughly intrigued. I wanted to fast forward to see the finished product, but I'm so invested in the process ☺️
David , Awesome brother ! I really enjoyed watching you perform this piece to it's elegant beauty. Thanks a lot 👍💯%
Thank you!!
Crazy that you were attempting that by hand but even crazier that you were so successful! Lots of skill!
This absolutely terrifies me watch you spin those types of logs. Amazing work, true inspiration
I was on the edge of my seat for the entire video waiting for disaster. Glad you survived unscathed! What a result-true artistry!
Was gonna watch your video but your ad is trying to take away my favorite gun. No thanks

I really like the dramatic way that it is filmed. Keeps your interest and shows all the different ways and angles that you do. Very gorgeous piece of artwork. You are definitely a fine artist.
I really appreciate that, Leah!
@@DavidAdamsen did you get my other messages about someone wanting me to reply to a telegram link? Said it was you and that you had a prize for me. I knew it was a scam, but I wanted to let you know.

Это шедевр. Какой мастер! Какое произведение!
Интересно, по чём продаёт.
Now this is a piece of art worth admiring.
Just discovered this channel...shared your video with 3 people. So remarkable ❤💜🧡
Wow, thank you!
I can't even begin to comprehend how that magnificent piece was first envisioned and then actually created. The number of steps to the final masterpiece is simply unreal. I do not know how it would even be possible to affix a fair price for something of that unique level of skill and creativity. Whatever is decided, it is worth even more.
Considering he's got 29M views on his video, even at a low $5 ad revenue per thousand views. He's earned between $150k-$200k for this video. 👏🏼 👏🏼

😲That's beautiful, David! Lots of work, but well worth it. Very nicely done!

A genius at Work, just mind Boggling the thought process , the effort, the creativity, patience , perfection to detail, just cannot keep adding adjectives. hats off, lot to learn from others, this is one such masterpiece.

Beautiful piece of art from a beautiful being who follows his mind and heart's vision with such inspiration, technicity, patience, and tenacity for an inedit creation. The video in itself is a gift. Thank you!
Wow! I've never seen anything like it, the detail & craftsmanship is amazing! & very beautiful.
What a great gift to have & thankyou for sharing how it's achieved. I will have much more of an appreciation for how much time goes into creating things of beauty & how that's reflected in the cost.
That was one of the most unique & unusual things l've seen in a long time, but it's lovely to see hand crafted things. I'm not a fan of modern things for your home & appreciate second hand & unusual things. I hope the people receive it with love & enjoy! it, as it's definitely a lifetime piece. Marvellous! 🥰
Thank you Alison!
One of my ambitions in life is to own one of your pieces. This is beautiful!
We don’t usually watch this kind of thing. But my 11-yr old daughter and I were amazed watching a shrub root turn into this astounding work of art!
Guess what she's going to want for Christmas!
Tell your daughter the truth! The shrub got killed for the sake of stupid art. Tell her the truth of global warming, pollution, climate change. How affects the animals and us people as well. How ignorant people like the man in the video are responsible for Earth's doom!
Had a sense of feeling that this would be turned into a vase. Time+patience+skill+dedication= beauty of art 🎨
Just saw your channel today, & this vase is Stunning! Thank you for sharing your amazing work! 🤩😍♥️
Thanks so much!
This became a art piece for sure. Thank you also for explaining the mistakes.
This vessel is gorgeous! I am so glad you persevered through all of the challenges and completed it.
I just through watching this and by the end my mouth was on the floor. I just came across your channel the other day. You are a wonderful artist. And it's amazing how you could see the beauty that really ugly root system was hiding. Thank you for sharing.
