Metal Gear Solid should get extra credit for being a wholly unique game. It's not a port or lesser remake. If you haven't played it, go do it right now. It's very good
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons are underappreciated games in the Zelda franchise. I'm glad you chose them as the best Gameboy Color games.
I agree entirely with this. Both game are very underrated and deserving of more attention and apreciation. Loved playing Oracle of Seasons as a kid and man it was a blast to play "hated the Subrosia mini game where you had to move on a certain pattern without messing up" but in all it was one of my favorites games to play on the Gameboy Color back then next to Pokèmon and Yugioh.
Even though I absolutely loved Pokemon Silver back in the day, I agree that the Oracle games were just on another level. I still have my Seasons cartridge laying around and although I never actually beat it on the gameboy, I did finally beat it on my 3ds many years later, truly awesome games.
I’m shocked you didn’t include Mario Tennis for the GBC. The game maybe fuelled by nostalgia for me but the fact that you have a solid campaign, tons of mini games to level up your character AND the chance to link it up with your Nintendo 64 so you can play your character with all the stats in 3D makes it a beautiful game. Honestly get it, you won’t be disappointed 🥰
The Nintendo Game Boy color has so many amazing games that unfortunately isn't on the Nintendo Switch online service. Hopefully Nintendo talks with these video game companies to bring more classic games so everyone can try out games that we might have missed out on. Cool video. ^_^
9:05 This game will forever be my arch nemesis. I loved dbz as a kid and the only console I had for a long time was a gameboy color. I get the game and never figured out how to play it properly.
My very first video game of my own, was Wario 3. It came with the GBC. I got the _Oracle of Ages_ later that day (Christmas) along with Spongebob’s _Legend of the Lost Spatula._ Right after that I got _Metal Gear Solid._ Lord knows how many hours I sunk into these game.
I really enjoyed Survival Kids. Saw an article/review on it in a domestic gaming magazine at the time, didn't buy/play until many years later, but I'm a sucker for deserted island/tropical setting games and that one was very nice. The multiple endings is also a nice touch though I wish they had been smarter about how to obtain different endings without annoying the player. Still a great game. Edit: I've seen Don't Starve but have yet to play... I guess I am now.
I was surprised that Perfect Dark wasn’t on the list. Similarly to what Metal Gear accomplished that game should not have been able to run on GBC! But it did. Very solid list 😎💪
When I think of the Gameboy systems… I only think of Pokémon games! Once I started the original Red, Blue, and Yellow… I was hooked forever! I would play these games while I would watch tv. Perfect combination! I love the Let’s Go Pikachu and Evee games that remade the original first three. Makes me feel like an 11 year old again lol
Survival Kids is one of my all time favorite games. The sequel recently got the fan translation. I highly recommend Survival Kids 2. Even better than the original.
BIONIC COMMANDO - Can we please also remember to give some love to the amazing Gameboy version? The GBC Bionic Commando title mentioned in this video is great, but some may not know there was an earlier release on the original GB, and in my opinion it is the very best Bionic Commando title ever released. What it may lack in color it more than makes up for with it's excellent soundtrack, great controls, and quality of life improvements over it's NES predecessor. And by Gameboy standards it's got some really quite good graphics going on!
3:28 Konami neglecting a franchise? Never. I know this series became 'Lost in Blue' but I haven't played any of those titles. I did play Survival Kids back in the day via emulator (I was never able to find it in stores) but recently I bought an original copy complete and can't wait to relive it.
Remember having an original game boy as a kid and also a colour and an advance. I remember playing game boy games after I'd had it for a few years and thinking... Pff this is crap 😂 and I had some classic games zelda, castlevania et al. I definately appreciate game boy more now than I did then. It's amazing to think nintendo just abandoned the game boy brand all together with the introduction of the ds. It was iconic then and still is now
Link’s Awakening DX Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories I am so glad you correctly included Lufia: The Legend Returns 🥲 But these other two games I’ve listed are also two of the absolute top-tier titles that cannot be excluded from a list like this.
My first game i got with it was Shrek Fairytale Freakdown. The only huge problem i had with GB Color was that *without light you cant play cuz no screen light*
Mario tennis needs a spot...Konami game boy collection 1-4 has to have 4 spots...Motocross Maniacs 2 needs a spot. Project S11 could do with a spot. Tetris DX kind of has to have a spot by default...many if these can take legend of the river king or survival kids spot...in fact...there's a lot of games you could swap in. On the absolute down low Monster Rancher Explorer (Solomons Club sequel) gets a spot...but much like project S11 you only know if you know 😉
How do you decide the games? I doubt you've played most of the games on your videos, let alone most of the games on the console you're talking about in that particular video?
Hmm. I wish Bomberman Quest was on this list. I enjoyed that game. I'm surprised Street Fighter Alpha was not on this list either. I absolutely agree that Zelda Oracles is #1. It's not just #1 in GBC. Imho, it's the best Zelda game, ever. And given that I've played all the zelda games up to Wii (so up to Skyward), that's saying something.
@@gumpyflyale2542There are other dual mode carts in this list just like Pokemon TCG that are backwards compatible. Survival Kids, Legend of the River King, R-Type DX, Harvest Moon 2, Pokemon Gold & Silver are all games that you can play on your original monochrome GameBoy. But they might have some content locked away when played in black and white. For example R-Type DX won't let you play the DX-mode, you can only access the separate R-Type titles. This is an eternal debate whether dual carts are GBC titles or not, and I kinda understand the reason for it. But still, I'd say of course they are. Because if Pokemon Crystal is considered a "real GBC game" and Gold & Silver are not... That's just feels a bit silly. If you can't change the color palette in the Game Boy splash screen, that makes it a GBC title in my books, plain and simple.
SMB Deluxe was the best for me. Iirc, it had the Lost Levels secreted away in it. Followed closely by Link's Awakening DX. It had an extra color dungeon.
I'm sorry but Pokémon was the driving factor behind the consoles huge success because they were simply the best games to be released for it. Having anything other than Pokémon at number one makes this list invalid.
“This game was listed 2nd best instead of 1st best out of a library of hundreds, and because that doesn’t match my opinion perfectly, I’m going to pout and throw away the whole list”
The harry potter and the chamber of secret rpg is amazing Amazing music, animation and quality It was the last game boy color game made and my first videogame ever Seriously if you love good pixel art,8 bit music and harry potter lore you should play it
Game Boy facts you might now know: th-cam.com/video/ZBmh-CBlF1U/w-d-xo.html
what's with the music loop being completely cut somewhere in the middle? it's distracting and kind of a hard thing to mess up honestly.
Metal Gear Solid should get extra credit for being a wholly unique game. It's not a port or lesser remake. If you haven't played it, go do it right now. It's very good
I played Red first but Crystal was what really got me to appreciate games as a kid. Still think back to it fondly. Thank you Grandma
thank u SocietyOfDecency's nan

I didn’t even know these Zelda games existed until I got an analogue pocket recently. I’d agree they are under appreciated. Excited to give them a go.
Props for including _Wario Land 3_ on the list. Amazing game in its own right - and the one "Metroidvania" that I'm most fond of.
I’m shocked you didn’t include Mario Tennis for the GBC. I don't care what anyone says, the mine cart levels in DKC were awesome/fun as hell and David Wise goes hard on that OST for those levels
the legend of Zela oracle of ages/seasons r the most underated games of all time
One of the best RPGs of all time being a golf game on the GameBoy will always make me happy
Lucky I bought ages and seasons all those years ago and still have them.
Wario 3, DKC, Rayman and to some extent Shantae are masterclasses in development. They shouldn’t have been possible on the device… but there they were

no Dragon Quest Monsters? Thats like one of the best GBC titles :D
It’s a gameboy game.
Dragon Quest Monsters Hype!
Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 would be on my list also but kudos for including Dragon Warrior 3
A great video for collector. So much nostalgia.
That Shanae game looks neat! Pretty good for a GBC game.
Awesome lists as always.
Dragon's Lair on GBC was an incredible arcade port! The animation is very lo-res and some scenes are truncated but it's all there.
Great list! Pokémon Pinball and Dragon Warrior Monsters would be up there for me too!
I really enjoyed Survival Kids. I just found your channel 3 days ago! I like it! ☺️🤘 You guys/gals do a great job!
Lufia The Legend Returns had such a bad translation as it turns out but it was my favorite childhood game and altered my brain chemistry permanently
I was surprised that Perfect Dark wasn’t on the list. Similarly to what Metal Gear accomplished that game should not have been able to run on GBC! But it did. Very solid list 😎💪
Agree! That was hands down my favorite. Fantastic multiplayer modes too

I know! probably the best game on it for the first year or so.
Pokémon card trading game and the yugioh card game were dope too.
Siick video boi
OH MY GOD FINALLY! SOMEONE WITH A TRUE TOP LIST!
I still have the one I got for my daughter back in the day I also have the old black and white ones
Excellent list. And the 3DS eshop joke made me laugh and cry. Now when are we getting “The Oracle Collection” for Switch?

The best part about "best gbc games" videos is everything before the top 5. You also need to try out fantranslated games
Lugia best legendary indeed. Thanks you.
Great GBC ranking.
Harry Potter 1 and 2 are two of the best games of the library of the GBC, and also in the HP franchise
Raymans mr. Dark looks a lot like Darkwing Duck 😮

great video, but you forgot Star Ocean : Blue Sphere :)
Lufia really needs a new game, if for no reason other than to finish the series and explain who exactly Arek is.

My favorite was Mario tennis. Which I think was the best game it offered.
Ohh survival kids was so awesome a 9/10 game
I currently own 3 GBC games, which are all on your list, R-Type DX, Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages.
Link’s Awakening DX
Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories
I am so glad you correctly included Lufia: The Legend Returns 🥲 But these other two games I’ve listed are also two of the absolute top-tier titles that cannot be excluded from a list like this.

My friend bought a GBC for his nephew recently. He was so bummed when it arrived and he found out it wasn't backlit 😬
The MegamanX remakes are pretty decent and impressive too.
Can't wait to try these put when my Retroid Pocket 4 Pro comes!!!!!!!
4 hours continues 💀
donkey kong country first mine cart level is tough as nails bro 😅
you gonna do the switch?
We may do if people are interested! There's just so many Switch lists coming out every day, as well as for stuff like Xbox One, PS4, etc

What is the game at 0:52 with the grapple? It looks awesome I want to play it
Bionic Commando.
Fun Fact: Ages and Seasons were actually outsourced to Capcom from Nintendo. Capcom made those games 😎
Missing: Pokemon TCG, Pokemon Puzzle League
The DKC minecart difficulty is way overblown imo, it’s nothing like the Battletoads speeder level. Or Stuntman
Donkey Kong Country's minecarts got nothing on Battletoads turbo tunnel speeders
THE BEST HANDHELDS OF ALL TIME: th-cam.com/video/foBQqlWhVPk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lqSvJOIRgGLsEbfz
DKC isn't very good on GBC. The DKL games were designed around the screen crunch, but cramming the SNES game on that screen didn't work.
*it's a very expensive game now*
No tetris??
You forgot Grand Theft Auto and Earthworm Jim.
Stranded Kids sounds like Lost in Blue
*Get a Game Boy GB color you can see the screen in the dark & Zelda DX is the best!*
JRPG Harry Potter games is awesome! Idea alone to make HP JRPG is worth trying them out!
Earth worm Jim game was fun
wario land 2 is a better game than most of this list, wario land 3 included. it's immaculate.
i recommend Mario Tennis to everyone
Patience Shore
Gbc games should only be considered games that were not backwards compatible
I mean if I can play survival kids on my original 1989 GB is it really a GBC game?
@@gumpyflyale2542who cares as ling as it came out in 1998 of later
I never liked how zoomed in you are in super mario bros deluxe..
*jes they should have stuck to the full screen one*
That made me laugh 😅 the Pokémon one. And all the stores Nintendo closed. Get the Powkiddy v90 all Gameboy in one place in gba sp form
Wario land on gbc was reeaaalu fun to play back in the days. O still play this game to this day on emulator.
Viva pokemon oro, plata y crystal amigos
Kinda upset Power Quest wasnt here....
Where is Perfect Dark?
How do you decide the games? I doubt you've played most of the games on your videos, let alone most of the games on the console you're talking about in that particular video?
Random question and I’m a little drunk can the Gameboy pocket play Pokemon Color games?
*jes and Super Game Boy*
I would of put Mario Tennis in the list over Donkey Kong Country, that game is a hot mess compared to other games in the GBC library
no metroid?
GBC didn’t have a dedicated Metroid game. Metroid 2 was a GB game in ‘91 and the next handheld entry was Fusion in 2002 for the GBA.
@@Incense3 fair enough
Shantae should be higher!

One of the best.
