- Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 review, what an absolute weapon this bike turned out to be its bloody fantastic! This is one of my absolute favourite naked bikes. Its joint first place with the KTM Super Duke 1290, also an amazing bike.

You're not wrong about the engine, best bike engine ever. But Aprilia reliability is good, I've never had an issue with my Tuono

I feel the same about Ducati, but after a year and a half my Aprilia hasn't missed a beat
it is not only a technical thing, but there is no aprilia dealer 200km around me. IF there would be something that just ads up to it.

I test rode this bike today in Miami, Lamb Chop is correct!! I said holy Fuck about 10 times. This bike is tooooo fast, and this is coming from a guy riding a 1290 KTM SuperDuke!!! The motor is brilliant!!!

I watched this video earlier this year, I ended up trading my gsxr thou k7 for a 2016 v4 11 factory, what an absolute beast, the gixer was manic, but boy this tuono is absolutely insane, and I absolutely love it, insanity all while being supremely comfortable, what a bike it is

I would have said Aprilia were far more reliable than KTM, having owned both the V4 1000 and 1290SDR, only one of them have me hassle and it wasn't the Aprilia

Been watching a lot of the videos, but im not qualified to spam to much feed back other than great works and I love the fireblade project and photoshoot. I think your comment about brilliant but reliability on the tuono is and any Aprilia is fare comment. I personally like the RSVR for the grunt and away from the norm and the old millie, but that day will come once i have gotten some 636 experience behind me. Thanks for sharing

Cam chain tensioner failed at 7400miles destroying top end. Cover under warranty though but question whether or not it has done more damage
I got mine and winter happened so only 140 miles so far ,if your down Wiltshire way in spring give me a shout and Ill show you the wiltshire TT ,great review thanks for confirming my absolute love of this bike it the best thing I have ever ridden .

+Lamb Chop Rides cannot wait ,only had it up to 8000 rpm so far so gagging for good weather to see how it goes on the WTT and the West 44 ,my 08 R1 was quick but did not like the rough roads and my 09 tuono handled superb but was slow so fingers crossed I now have the tool for the job :)

good job you been fucking around on the supermoto because if you didn't have the muscle memory to shut the throttle and dab the back brake it would have definite looped out and you would have been straight on your arse in the middle of the road

Knew you would love it! Amazing bike isn't it, makes more sense than a sports bike IMO
I recommend you look into a 2014 or 2015 V4R model. They have the 1000cc motor that is 170hp and almost same torque as the 1100. Same awesome experience just firmer suspension and hard seat. The seat can be swapped out for the one on the 1100 so you can get the same comfort but with the fully vetted motor. And they are very nicely discounted at the moment. Black and white are the colors so that should be appealing as well. The other drawback is they are not as nicely fueled at low revs but it seems the 1100 isn't perfect either oh and the engine modes might be softer at lower rpm but still have the all out race mode.

The only problem with this bike is that you will have a hard time to keep your license 😂
Just open the throttle for like 2 seconds and you're going 120mph if you went like 60mph before 😂

Can somebody that's owned An Aprilia v4 1100 for a while tell me IF it's reliabl3? Is it as unreliable as they say or is that just haters. I don't have an Aprilia dealer within 1200 miles!!! So reliability is a concern.

Picking it up in August (have to get over some speeding tickets that will see my license on hold till August) this year. Should be great.Respect & ride safe.

Mate, if you've got it on R then you're actually in Road/Rain, which is the lowest power mode. T is for Track, which is what you want. Only reason I know is cause I made the same mistake, Aprilia made it a little confusing.
+Tosh Outdoors Aprilia actually made it even more confusing by keeping the same letters and making them stand for different power mappings in the 2016 V4 1100. R is actually now Race and the most powerful.
S - Sport (Full power, most engine braking, laziest throttle response. I call it 'Slab mode') T - Track (Full power, middle engine braking, direct throttle. I call it 'Twisities mode) and R - Race (Full power, least engine braking, most direct throttle response. I call it 'Really aggressive mode') ....and my race ECU ups the anti even more. Shifting S to more like T, T to more like R and R to...hyper sensitivity all while lessening the on/off throttle at low speeds. ...and then comes a Gabro ECU.

Knowing they are different animals, from someone who has ridden the MT09 as well, how does the Tuono compare? I'm currently stuck between picking an 8,000kms 2017 MT09 and a 4,000kms 2012 APE, both priced similarly.

I'm looking at the 2020 rr as there great deals on them just now. I take it the only real difference is the semi active ohlins and paint job on the factory? For the road do u really need the ohlins setup?
They're not unreliable really, the older ones do have a weak stator (like a dozen Japanese bikes that could be named). The 1100 got the new motor refinements and is a big evolution from the older bike.
+Steve C OK good to know Steve, Ive heard of people with issues and mates who say no nothing ever gone wrong. I think its a case of people with issues tend to make more noise then people without, and due to the fact its Italian there is also a stigma of poor reliability..
My 2007.5 Tuono has been the most reliable bike I've ever owned. I've had it on track days, beaten on it chasing superbikes, taken it to the mountains a handful of times... have two RSV4s currently (2013 and 2016), very minor issues but nothing that would put you off.

+Lamb Chop Rides Aprilia is probably the most reliable of the Italian bikes; at least in Italy many riders have that belief, but unfortunately it is not a cool brand like Ducati or BMW.

How is the wind on that bike? I'm torn between a GSX-1000F or a tuono 1100. I love the comfort and wind protection of the gsx but damn that tuono engine though!
Its pretty good Devin under a ton, not as good as the F GSXs though of course but my its way more fun!!

the one thing I dont like with tuono v4 is that it feels heavy when going slow, not a good townsbike :P It feels to much of a superbike and not a naked bike like mt09, 1290superduke and those naked that are designed from the start to be proper roadbikes. an yeah i love the rsv4 :P

I'm laying here on the couch after a man test driving a big truck pulledvout of the truck dealer and never stopped at the stop sign .. shattered wrist and shattered knee plus tore my ACL so I'm out for 7-9 months of recovery but the surgeon said I will never be the same !!! well this is the bike I'm probably going to buy but probably the factory version the only thing holding me back is the reliability of Aprilla plus I live in a America and the closest dealer is 3 hrs away ... but I only hear great things about touno ,I've always has superbikes so I'm used to having all the pressure on my wrists and since I have titanium plate with 16 screws and mesh in there now I think I need a sit up bike ,so how was the seating position and was there pressure on your wrist?
Jesus dude sorry to hear about the smash sounds horrific! Good luck on the mend up sure you will be backup and riding soon. I think the Factory Tuono is my favorite naked bike the standard one I rode in this video was incredible, I want to test the Factory this year at some point too.
The reliability is now pretty good, Ive not heard many people moaning about. Its not like it used to be for sure! Wrist pressure its pretty good very high bars, the only thing which let it down was high pegs but again not too bad and easily fixed with some rearsets if needed. Go get one :-)

From what I've heard the factory with all the extra suspension and electronics makes it worth buying over stock
Hi Matthew, sorry to hear about the accident. I bought the RR and love it, the only difference is the Sachs suspension vs Ohlins on the Factory, all electronics are identical. The Sachs is the best suspension I've ever ridden on.

I am 35 and looking to get my first motorcycle. I would also say that I'm a bigger guy. I will be traveling a lot on the highway and looking for a bike that I can have for many years. I was looking at Aprilia Tuono Factory , Triumph Speed R, Monster 821. I'm not going to be crazy on any of these bike just want to have a reliable machine. So would the Aprilia tuono factory be a good begineer bike
Hi Richard, I don't think the Tuono is your best bet.. It's very aggressive hard core bike and not the most comfy due to the high pegs. I've not tried monster but speed triple is a great bike. I've reviewed it also if you check my other vids

I think probably the Superduke, followed very closely by the Aprilia. Don't like the s1000r very much .

NOT EVEN LYING.. :D shouty mans voice has now gone... but yeh to be fair i would wait and try the mt-10.. that thing is definatly worth having a bash on.. have on go on the z1000.. thats got awesome amounts of usable power! :D

Really wanted a 1100 Tuono Factory but have heard they are really quite unreliable , and extremely expensive to maintain and service,...(I'm in the US) do you (or anyone else reading this ) know it that true ? I went MT10 becaue of that but LOvE the tuono factory . Looking at either another MT10 or SUperduke 1290r 1.0 , wouldn't mind a tuono RR to save $$$ but really worry about the reliability. Had my '17 fz10(MT10) 2 years and not one issue , Yamaha reliability . Really can't decide! Wish the RR had the Factory tail , LOVE the RSV tail on the tuono, really hate the tail /seat on the RR. Ugh.
The Aprilia unreliable thing just isn't the case anymore. 10 years ago there were some electrical issues but they were fixed long ago. Yes not many dealers is a problem and services I don't think are that much more expensive. Not compared to Ducati for example. I would not let reliability put me off buying one they are very good now 👍

Yes very fast! Almost as fast as a 1000cc sportsbike but so much torque makes up for the slight lack in outright power.

+Jim V I haven't seen much info about the 2017 S1000r, but it depends on what you want from a bike. The Tuono is brutal, huge amounts of torque and super quick steering. This years BMW still fast but much more manageable but a little sterile in comparison. I would recommend test riding both, but also try the Speed Triple and KTM Superduke 👍

At 6'2 I don't really struggle on anything I've tried.. Pegs are a little high for long legs on the Tuono and S1000r. For that reason speed triple or Gsxs would be the place I would start if I was you :)

Yeah Dan's up "I think" for me trying his 350 so perhaps we need to setup another green lane trip? When I see him will ask, get Spicy along too on the DRZ so Dan wont be alone on his 690 hehe. Dont think Womble will be up for it though.. Girl :) Yeah we need to organise something for the spring and you can try the blade also, thats if you can bring yourself to ride a Honda hehe
