I’m only 15 but songs like these are what keep me listening to music, nowadays most things feel so produced and artificial. I wish I was born to see this stuff live.
One of the few bands whose live performances can literally sound equivalent to the studio version. This particular video above being a prime example. I may even like this live version better than the studio because of Roland's improv. on the guitar during the verses and such. Its also so cool to see how much fun these musicians are truly having during their time performing. They are clearly having a great time performing this. If I was there in the crowd I would be going HAM dancing. Rock on TFF we love you forever.
mrwillywonka It's like they are actually playing with more energy in this performance, as opposed to the studio track. And since they play so tight (and it's mixed pretty well), I prefer this version too. Great stuff.
+mrwillywonka sorry for my english..im brazilian. i prefer this live version , by the way ...im 33, and i was a kid , the first time i heard this song, was this live version... sounds better than studio.. to me this live version in toronto is a official " everybody wants to rule the world" !
It’s an eternal masterpiece! One of the significant soundtracks of the 80,s , no doubt! Still today its lyrics contain words connected with the today’s world political and cultural environment! 🙏❤️
One of my coworkers said Lorde was the person sang Everybody Wants to Rule the World, I showed her this vid, she fell to silence for how much better the original is.
As I was returning home after the birth of my daughter 6 weeks early this song was on the radio. For years it brought a tear to my eyes. I bought the ringtone so I knew when my daughter called me. She now has 4 children of her own. This song means so much to me!
+AceItX too bad most youtube comments are written by wilfully ignorant jackasses that can't take more than 5 minutes to actually research the good music currently being made
Rory O'Brien I'm talking about modern rappers, they suck dick and its all the same things except a couple such a couple such as J-cole. Dr Dre,Eminem,Snoop Dog,IceCube are the classic and modern rappers ruin it
+AceItX There's still plenty of really good modern rappers. if you just go off of the radio or what people post online, you're gonna be disappointed. asap rocky, kendrick lamar, earl sweatshirt, vince staples. the list goes on
Sick performance. Curt really got the crowd going on that one. I especially loved it when he hit the cymbals. A great song by a great band. Wish there was still this quality today.
I missed them and I am glad they are back, and I hope to stay! They may be older, but they still sound great! They were recently @ The Garden on Monday, 6/26/23, but I didn't go since the cheapest ticket was $69.00, and I would be getting home very late! Also, in the 1980's, I passed up another chance to see TFFS @ Forest Hills Stadium, NY, but I either didn't know the cost of it, found out about it too late, or would be afraid going home late! I could've taken a taxi cab home! Well, better luck next time, Mike!
I miss the 80's do much! Although I was born in 85, I still feel that my past life was stuck in the 80's and I'm 29 now! The music these days is way too overrated
Hey sweetie, I'm 61 and I love watching their videos now! It's hard to believe that videos made in the 80's have such high quality! We just only saw what M TV showed us.
That looks like such an awesome crowd. I can't stand going to some shows now a days with everyone trying to film it with their phones, constantly talking over the music, and taking live music for granted.
All hail theee Mighty TEARS FOR FEARS. Roland Orzabal - Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards. Curt Smith - Vocals, Bass guitar. Ian Stanley - Keyboards. Manny Elias - The Drums. Live from Massey Hall, Toronto Canada 1985.
Awesome performance of an awesome song.. It's obvious it's the 80's, but love the fact that although they are big stars they're not dressed in bizarre ways like other 80's acts.
You look at Roland and say .. he is the leader .. Then you look at Curt .. like in this song, and you say .. no no .. the leader is Curt !!! So simply you understand that they are in the Pop history the perfect DUO of everytime !!! What a song what a performance ! They play in the same way this song from the start (noone do this in career) simply beacause this song was perfect at time .. and is perfect now !!! TOP
I remember this song in 10th grade, liked it but couldn’t admit it much because I was a hard rocker. Although this excellent song was in the back of my head. Many years later when I started enjoying all good music, I saw Don Henley perform this live and I realized how good this song is.
When I hear great songs such as this, I now realize that great Rock & Roll Music isn't dead! Accept for groups such as The New Edition & Boys 2 Men, I'm sorry if some of you who are fans of Hip Hopp/Rapp Music, are offended by this, but except for the rhymes, I agree with the late, great Ray Charles & James Brown that that's not music! For example, Rap songs w/ spitting & uses curse words in them!
Awesome performance of one my favorite songs! Their energy is incredible! Their sound is fantastic! Tight group. Extremely strong vocals by Curt! Roland's guitar is perfection. So young and vibrant back then...
Essa foi uma das melhores músicas que marcou época, e certamente ficará na eternidade, olhem como Curt canta com energia, e Roland dança com alegria e desprendimento!
one of the greatest live versions of any song ever !! pure WOW !! the band and the crowd make this a video i watch every week. love this song, easily one of my top 5. 1985 amazing it's 35 years ago. 67 now, i am so blessed my gorgeous wife loves and spoils me more than ever ! Love you sweetheart !! we were just early 30s when this song came out and it brings back so many sweet memories !
They genuinely looked like they were having fun and enjoying themselves performing this song. Loved it. Great song. This live version sounds just as good as the studio version.
what a great band from the eighties....a weird turning point came at the same time this song came out in my life...these guys helped me through it....thanks fellas that was very nice of you
Emirates airlines is really making this song shine again. It's the new music they play for boarding and people love it. Such a positive atmosphere this song creates. Its frikking brilliant.
what a joy to watch this vid, the band looked like they were enjoying it as much as the fans, curt was the star of the show for me, nice to see that so many people have given this video the thumbs up.
I agree. The music on this track is beyond beautiful. The opening music sounds like a beautiful dream and no matter when you hear it, you know if's "everybody wants to rule the world". Their vocals just add to the masterpiece. The horns at .59 just uplift it even more!
Roland and Curt are the best duo I've ever seen. Voices are perfect together!!!
@@pamelapavez2216 ig de la morrita con gustos chidos? jasjja
I agree! Sometimes when Curt sings, even today, he sounds a little bit like George Michaels, when he was younger.
Their voices are very close.
I agree!😀😃😄
@robg5518. I agree! Is it just me, or do they sound like a young George Michaels when he first started out w/ Wham?
Curt is such a cutie, can't get enough of this song. 😍
my first concert date with my girlfriend, now wife of 31yrs, was a Tears for Fears show in 1985 at the Aragon Brawl room in Chicago.
David Anderson That's beautiful
Journey
Aragon ballroom. Sweet been there
Eres afortunado, entonces yo tenía 15 años de edad
Happy times mate, this tune makes me smile so I can only imagine how you and the Mrs feel when you hear it! x
People enjoying the music, dancing and each other without cell phone cameras everywhere!!!!
one of the reason why the 80s was awesome.
I’m only 15 but songs like these are what keep me listening to music, nowadays most things feel so produced and artificial. I wish I was born to see this stuff live.
I'm also 15
Keep listening and exploring 😊. Enjoy 😊.
The sheer joy radiating from Curt's face. He is having a blast. To have a job you like so much is a blessing
The best song EVER. Timeless and iconic!
@valentinamaria3737. Amen to that! You're so right! Go to the head of the Class!

+mrwillywonka You are so right!!! They sound incredible Live, even still today!!! I so regret never seeing them Live!!!! Awesome post!!!!!
jakesimonds@hotmail.com - have seen them live twice in the 2000s - they have been SPECTACULAR ! contemplating a 3rd time ! ! !
+mrwillywonka sorry for my english..im brazilian. i prefer this live version , by the way ...im 33, and i was a kid , the first time i heard this song, was this live version... sounds better than studio.. to me this live version in toronto is a official " everybody wants to rule the world" !
You don't listen to that much live music, do you?
This still sounds magnificent after all these years! Long live TFFS! They are long overdue as Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees.
Lorde butchered this song idk why TFF loves it and would use at their concerts
i love that” yeah yeah yeah….”
Curt is a doll!!😊
As I was returning home after the birth of my daughter 6 weeks early this song was on the radio. For years it brought a tear to my eyes. I bought the ringtone so I knew when my daughter called me. She now has 4 children of her own. This song means so much to me!
Wonderful! It warmed my heart to read this.
Back in the days when artists didn't need auto-tune or any of that crap we use today. All they needed was amazing instruments and their voices. :-)
Luckily most good artists today still dont use electronics
+Branded Lamb Too bad most of the songs are by retarded rappers who rap about the same thing:Pussy,Money, drugs

Don't forget they might be giants Death leopard and bonjovi
Same girl same. I love lots of 80's bands and im only 23.
I was born in 84. Still listen to music like this. Mid 30s now, still hope to one day attend a tears for fears concert
Hey sweetie, I'm 61 and I love watching their videos now! It's hard to believe that videos made in the 80's have such high quality! We just only saw what M TV showed us.
@4:48 it's like a Time Machine getting to go back to the wonderful 80s and see the band coming off stage just being themselves
What a masterpiece! I listen to this song everday in 1985, just couln't stop playing it, time and time again..... Now it's still amazingly fresh!
Best live version I've seen.
It is played very good (and recorded very good as well) Sounds like the Studio Version. Good musicians. I love it too.
I agree
It does, they even added a few instrumentals there which is good...
That looks like such an awesome crowd. I can't stand going to some shows now a days with everyone trying to film it with their phones, constantly talking over the music, and taking live music for granted.
Wait til you go to a movie in a theater again. If ever?
I see a group of musicians enjoying themselves. In my opinion this concert couldn’t have been any better.
All hail theee Mighty TEARS FOR FEARS. Roland Orzabal - Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards. Curt Smith - Vocals, Bass guitar. Ian Stanley - Keyboards. Manny Elias - The Drums. Live from Massey Hall, Toronto Canada 1985.
Best song from the 80s. Still great today. Kurt and Roland are so talented.
One of the most beautifully crafted songs made, It's up there.
Awesome performance of an awesome song.. It's obvious it's the 80's, but love the fact that although they are big stars they're not dressed in bizarre ways like other 80's acts.
Anybody who was 20 when they attended this concert is now 50... Time has passed fast.
Nice to see the heartfelt smiles-the drugs and creeps had not gotten there yet. best song ever.
My favourite song from the 80’s.
This song will last forever ❤
When he sings "help me to decide" it's so hard and Curt just nails it head on!!!
Wasn't born till 88. Missed this awesome era of music. Where's a time machine!
curt looked so happy!! aw!!
He really shared his exact emotion at the time when he was singing. That was awesome. Curt is an awesome singer 🤩
No band can perform like tears for fears there music is just incredible there both amazing.
You look at Roland and say .. he is the leader .. Then you look at Curt .. like in this song, and you say .. no no .. the leader is Curt !!! So simply you understand that they are in the Pop history the perfect DUO of everytime !!! What a song what a performance ! Guys, To be honest this is much more better than that of Lorde's version.
Dude totally
Amen! :-)
I didn't even know Lorde did a cover and I did like her track "Royals" too !
Yuvraj Birdi some people think that’s the original and that’s total crap and I can’t believe it lordes version is crap

Hard to argue this.
Best song at my wedding on June 6th 1986, great band, keep it going guys.
I remember this song in 10th grade, liked it but couldn’t admit it much because I was a hard rocker. Although this excellent song was in the back of my head. Many years later when I started enjoying all good music, I saw Don Henley perform this live and I realized how good this song is.
I love the moment when you can see the 80's teen's.... SO 80'$
@ 1:38
I agree!
Seriously, it looked like an intro to a John Hughes movie.
When I hear great songs such as this, I now realize that great Rock & Roll Music isn't dead! Real instruments. Excellent vocals. Talent!

I miss the 80's so badly. Those were the days when music was so real and incredible.
1983 = normal song
2023 = speakerman theme
70´s, 80´s..such a great time for music, so many classics that resonate strong to this very day..
