    Was addicted to crack for 7 years and it took about 5 years in and out of recovery before recovery actually stuck. In my experience it has to be one of the most powerfully addictive substances. It doesn't control my life anymore but I still have using dreams about it on occasion .if anyone is struggling with this drug, I would recommend detox, treatment, and support from a 12 step fellowship. Been clean and sober for almost 4 years. Best decision of my life

    I have done cocaine a couple times throughout my life. It Never was addicting, for me at least. I never understood what separated the average recreational drug user from the habitual; until now.
    Class.
    While wealthy people can become addicted to substances like cocaine, I think its more of a mentality and their state-of-mind. E.I. Happy and content with life vs depressed and sad / looking for an escape.
    Crack is cheap, cocaine is not. The connection I'm attempting to make is as follows: People looking for an escape do crack (In the long run, costs less) People content with their life looking to have more fun, do coke (In the short run, cost is low)
    I've been fortunate to be content with my life. Thats why I'm not addicted.

      As a matter of fact, even though drug addiction is a very complex thing, you have a big piece of the puzzle.
      For example, one major thing that differentiates teenagers who uses regularly from those who don't is oftenly related to their surroundings (and of course other things). Let's say a kid with good friends who puffs a joint once in a while in a party in comparison with one who have in his surroundings some older guys wich also uses acid or pcp or whatever. Thing is, the ease of access makes all the difference. And if you're having guys who encourages you to try it. In addition with their needs to belong at this age, then with those 2, you already find yourself with strong deadly factors that could make all the difference in the world. And what you were saying about once in a while getting more fun or wanting to escape reality is also absolutely true. It's all a matter of combined situations. And some have way stronger influences on behaviors; Being 20 years old, in college and wanting to try marijuana out of curiosity, it's not the same as being extremely depressed in a sad situation. Just like you said, their seeking pleasure the other seeking escape. And as sad as it may seem, sometimes drugs are the only lifeline left for the second one.
      Anyhow, good observation and happy that your life is bringing you happiness!😊

    • @Elizabethpepper8
      @Elizabethpepper8 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are one of the same, but different forms. You are incorrect with the cost analysis and reasons of use. Crack costs significantly more than cocaine. People typically use crack due to its potency. Its very intense and short lived Comparing its use is like comparing beer drinkers to liquor.
      Remember... if drugs were addicting everybody who ever used them would be an addict. It has to do with the individual.
      Watch Gabor Mate if you wish to understand.

    • @iwinitall3638
      @iwinitall3638 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't doubt your assessment, however, my personal observation is that contentment with one's life had more to do with who got addicted more often than class. I know of professional people i.e., businessmen, doctors, lawyers, teachers, policemen and men of the cloth who do crack. I know of persons who are considerably less prominent who use cocaine to party i.e., bartenders, waitresses, folks on holiday.
      I know of a restauranteur who smokes crack but does not appear to be addicted but could very be a, high functioning addict.
      It seems like anyone may be an addict- most hide addiction very well. We'd never know unless they were exposed somehow.

    • @Elizabethpepper8
      @Elizabethpepper8 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @iwinitall3638 agreed. I don't understand how people struggle to comprehend this obvious logic when taking extreme cases into consideration. If it was solely about the drug and not the person, then why do so many willingly sacrifice everything for a life of homelessness while others do not. There is evidently much more to it.

    I’ve tried cocaine marijuana ecstasy and psychedelics. They were all funny wastes of time and I enjoyed them for a time.
    Never became addicted as I don’t use any of them regularly and haven’t for years,
    This is a class thing, if you are dirt poor and depressed with life you will become addicted, if you are content and enjoy your status in society drugs are merely entertainment

    Hum....🤔!!?? So, freebase and crack are not the same thing? I understand that the freebasing process is more dangerous because of the flamable and potentially explosive fumes. But, since there a difference between cocaine-cocaine and crack-cocaïne in terms of its effect. What about cack vs freebase? Is there some sort of difference? Thanks in advance.

    • @TheEdgeTreatmentCenter
      @TheEdgeTreatmentCenter  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your question! Freebase and crack are both forms of cocaine, but they differ slightly in how they're made and consumed. Freebase cocaine is typically made using ether, which makes it more dangerous due to the flammable fumes. Crack cocaine, on the other hand, is processed with baking soda, making it easier to produce and smoke. The effects of both are similar, producing a fast, intense high, but crack is often considered more addictive due to its quicker onset.

      It sounds like you've been through some incredibly challenging and confusing situations with your family's substance use. Recognizing that what was happening wasn't okay is a significant step, especially when you grow up thinking such behaviors are normal due to family influences. If you find yourself needing to talk about your experiences, seek support, or simply need a safe space to express your feelings, it's important to reach out to professionals who can provide the right assistance and support. Healing from such experiences is possible, and you don't have to do it alone.

    How long does Crack stay in the human body

    • @TheEdgeTreatmentCenter
      @TheEdgeTreatmentCenter  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Crack cocaine typically stays in the body for a relatively short period. The effects of crack are intense but brief, usually lasting about 5 to 10 minutes. In terms of detectability, crack can be found in urine tests for up to 3 days after use, though this can vary depending on factors such as the frequency of use, metabolism, and overall health of the individual. In hair follicle tests, it can be detected for much longer periods, up to several months after use. Blood and saliva tests generally have a shorter detection window, usually up to 1-2 days.
