I have owned a Kioti DS4110 for about 8 years. Best tractor I have ever owned. I am upgrading to a higher horse power with an enclosed cab. Need the a/c for summers and winter due to my age. I am upgrading the seat to an air ride aftermarket.

I'm a skid steer man myself. But, both are good.
One negative of the skid steer is I can tear up the ground with the tires.
Do you have that trouble with tractor?
PS if you had a grapple, you'd say: "how did I ever make it without one" lol

I've had mine for 9 months. (Kioti CK2610) 55 hours on the meter. I live in the city limits of a big city. People thought I was crazy for buying a tractor. My property is between 1 and 2 acres. I had 3 huge trees fall. With the help of the tractor I cut up all three trees and hauled the pieces to the ditch in front of my house where the city picked it all up. I bought a box blade, a grapple and it came with a bucket. I have used the grapple SO much. It cost $1250 and was worth every penny. It has paid for itself 3-4 fold. If I hadn't bought the tractor when I did, I would have had to pay someone 8-10K for work I've done myself. Would I buy it again ... HELL YES. A few things to do. Check all the bolts when you get it home. Mark every bolt with a silver sharpie to visually check for bolts that loosen. The grease fitting bolts especially. Several of them loosened. I torqued them back down and they haven't loosened up since. I checked the fluids religiously and at the 50 hour service, everything was great. It picks up all the weight it needs to but if you push the limits like me, you need to have an attachment on the back for extra weight or fill the rear tires with a mix of water and methanol. The most weight I have moved with mine is between 1600-1800 pounds. short list of minor problems 1) Bolts loosening .. including the seat back. 2) A stick came up from the bottom and knocked the lower radiator hose off. (Not the tractors fault. 3) Front tire puncture, repaired with plug. (also not the tractor's fault. By the way, the box blade rejuvenated my gravel driveway and also 3 neighbors. They all look like they have had fresh gravel spread. I wish I had bought a tractor 20 years ago. Oh yeah .. the one I have is the 25hp one. You don't have to mess with the DEF and it still has plenty of torque. I keep adding to the post. Get a grapple.

Thank you for your review of your Kioti CK 2610. I got mine in February and have not used it much yet. The property I plan to use it on is all ice right now so I am waiting for a little warm up. Glad you are doing well with your Kioti.

There's plenty you can do with the grapple that you can't do with the forks ..... get the grapple. You will find all kinds of things through experience. There's also things the forks can do that the grapple can't. That's why we own them both.

For the seat issue, wind down/ loosen the front crank or like I did use use a jumper wire to the seat plug so you can start it without having to climb up just to start it. Not a safety issue because it still needs to be in neutral to start.

Wood hounds are wizards at what they do . Wizard the wood hound . Wood hounds are always buzzing thru wood . Buzz the wood hound or buzzy ! You don’t need a third function . Two hose plugged into your rear remotes routed up too loader and along loader arm and four Quick connects . Way cheaper and easier . You do well with the forks but if you ever used a slide on bucking grapple for your forks you will say the same thing as you said about your tractor . How did I ever do with out . Cutting logs off the ground at waist high down too the last 16” piece is the ultimate way too go . Good review on the Tractor . 👍

We own a CK4010SE cab and have both forks and a grapple. Honestly if you would have told me after spending the money on the grapple, that I would use the forks to move logs around as much as I do, I would have called you crazy. Just seems to be on the tractor a lot. One place though that a grapple is far superior is stacking/unstacking log piles. Being able to set them versus rolling them into place makes a big difference. Great video!!!!

  • @davidfox6189

Wolfie the woodhound, and the grapple is the best thing that I ever did on my tractor you won't be disappointed you have so much more control than you do with the forks

    Great Video!!!
When I was researching tractors, I was really interested in the Kubota's, but I couldn't get over the pedal. My JD lawn tractor has two pedals for forward and reverse. The other JD tractor I have used had separate pedals. That was a deciding factor for me to go to the Kioti.
Seat - There is a bypass for that seat. Disconnect the wiring harness and run a jumper wire between the two connections. I have tested it and it works, but I have not implemented it, yet. I'm used to putting on the parking brake and putting it in neutral.
Loader bolts - Manual says every 25 hours to check them for my 3510. I checked at 50 hours and about 50% were loose.
Lights - I am going to move my lights to the fenders and then install some work lights in that location for night work. Tractor supply has some pretty bright LEDS.
I would like to install the 3rd function valve at some point. My intention is keep the tractor a very long time, and who knows what my needs might be in 10 years, but who knows if the parts will be available at that time for the 3rd function valve install.
I certainly would purchase the Kioti again, but I only have 70 hrs at this point.

I have a 100 HP John Deere 4230 two-wheel drive tractor with a 265 level-action loader. I finally added a grapple fork to the loader bucket and teeth to the bucket. That was like adding a thumb to your hand. You would be _amazed_ at what you can do from the tractor seat with it. The log loads are far more secure and you can bunch up slash wood piles with zero effort. I would highly recommend having grapple forks. For your mascot, how about "Chip", like a chip of wood from an axe. 🤠👍

I have a NX5510 Kioti that I do the same wood work with as you. As others have stated, the 3rd function and grapple are worthy upgrades. Moving logs with forks is doable, but clearing and stacking brush with them SUX. The grapple does a much better job, in a fraction of the time. No worries about being in the center of the log and it flipping off the forks either. Just grab it wherever is handy, clamp on it, and away you go! I can say the only time my forks are on now, is if I'm moving totes or pallets around.

We are in the process of potentially buying a 2610. I have 8 acres of wooded land, a pole barn and I need the ability to move downed logs, grade the driveway, move dirt, and dig post holes. We are looking to move into the barn after we finish it, sell our house, and then build a new house further back on the property. Zero percent financing right now. Looking at one Thursday.

Forks vs grapple, the eternal debate (or struggle).
I did haul 16' logs for years with forks and I did ok with it. Last year, I installed a third function valve on my loader and bought the lightest grapple I could find (Land Pride).
Man! It's a game changer. You are at least twice mor efficient with the grapple.
Picking the logs is far easier. Hauling it too. It doesn't slide or bounce like the forks. You can drop the load much more precisely.
I suppose it's safer too. It would be harder to have the load coming back at the operator than with the forks.
I only see advantages for that kind of work. And, of course, I still use the forks frequently to move things around (pallets, IBC totes, etc.).
The right tool for the right job, I guess.

Hey Dan (Shifty) a no brainer here , the name must be "Timber Wolf" because of the wood use and a bigger than a kioti's name sake. Looked fer a 25-26 tractor as such as the kioti 2610. Have a 21 21hp M-F, a 36hp M-F 1736, a 54hp TLB MX5200 kubogy, but not a comparable ( like your rig) in sight. If the 2610 had turning brakes & a rocker pedal ( in the hydro) l might be persuaded. The 3510se gear drive is my real choice, want the back how Atachment but don't like the kioti underbelly drag on the ground system. Your rig is a Great choice for your application. I am just leaning to the Massey-Ferguson 1825e with a back-hoe ( just 4000$ more) than all others. Just have to compromise on the "handy-dandy" fender mounted loader valve. Thanks for the great vidio & insight. Happy safe tractoring "Shifty".

Hey Dan! Good honest review! Tractors are just like cars and trucks. what feels right to one person feels totally wrong to the next. I'll never forget the time I rented a BMW x5 SUV for a trip. Worst vehicle ever drove in my life! Uncomfortable and totally not intuitive when it came to controls. Yet there are people who will only ever drive a BMW!

Is there a fix for the bolt issue? Seems like it would be a pain to be checking and tightening all the time

The tractor is a compact not a sub compact. HP does in it self determine if it's sub compact or compact tractor

The the third function is better than your thinking. You have the tractor. It’s definitely worth it since you spent the money to begin with. The grapple is ridiculously convenient compared to whatever your thinking about necessity.

Strongly disagree about the grapple and forks argument , the grapple will hands down speed things up to a level you would imagine , I had the same thoughts as I used my forks to move wood while my grapple was in order , when I finally got my grapple I had no regrets on my purchase, it almost never comes off my tractor , like the tractor it to has been a game changer !!

Just gain some more weight and the safety seat will always work. Winter weight works for me!

My John Deere I can start without sitting in the seat. That is very strange, unless the pto is engaged.

Whats the capacity of the rear lift. I use rear forks to move my IBC totes around but my old 8n cant lift a full tote.
Do you think the kioti would lift a full tote as it sat on your rear platform.
    Thanks, great review

    • @Back40Firewood
      @Back40Firewood  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah depending on if stacked in the tote or loose it would lift it. If stacked in then might not lift it high enough to get in truck bed but close.

If you could do it all over again would you have still went with the hydro or would you have went with the manual? I have the 2610 hydro but often wish I would have went with the manual or shuttle shift. Just curious to your thoughts on this question as I feel like I would have more pulling power had I just went with the other transmission options as the hydro seems to consume to much of the HP plus the noise decibels would be much less and not require hear protection.

I think I'd still go with the hydro over the manual. Since I do a lot of moving around the woodyard that aren't very far distances I find the switching pedals is much easier. My dad has a manual tractor and unless you're doing field work it can be a pain to always be shifting gears. For what I use it for, like I said around the woodyard I'm happy with the hydro. 👍😀🍻
